Banyan On The Thames
Our stunning riverside location along with the choices of a varied menu of selected Euro-Indo- South East Asian flavours bring Banyan to the forefront. From the English charm of the Banyan Fish and Chips, other delights are the exceptional 200 gm English Steak, Mongolian Lamb or Honey Glazed Sea Bream.
In the summer months enjoying your meal al fresco adds another gentle element of gracefulness to your day. It is a romantic setting, as well as a great family place where children can watch helicopter landings as they eat from their own tastefully developed children’s menu.
Banyan on the Thames specializes in international cuisine and views of the famous river Thames. The restaurant is situated within Award winning Rafayel on the Left Bank, around 10 minutes’ walk from Clapham Junction station.View Private Dining Details

The staff were not very friendly, the service was poor and we were rushed out as they were setting up for a party that evening.
Had the most expensive steak dish with a side mixed vegetable dish. Very nicely cooked and well presented.
It was a lovely experience just sitting outside by the Thames having afternoon tea.
Lovely hotel .afternoon bit poor few dried sandwiches scones and little cakes.never recieved pot of tea at start had to ask twice for it.
Was disappointed especially when it was a 50th birthday present.
Good value. View of the thanes. Excellent food
Not bad . .. Welcoming Host but the Waiter was frosty .. Very Good location.. Seats not so comfortable.. Shisha has been discontinued and that wasn't noticeable when i was reviewing it.. However i would visit again during the day but only 3 stars just i have been to places far better and they only had 4
Just average. Nothing special. Nice views on the Thames
The service and staff were nice but the food was not the best. The chicken was quite dry and portions were quite small. When we arrived the floor was very dirty and there was a dirty knife just laying on the floor
We enjoyed our dinner and the food and service were lovely. However, there was a very loud party going on and it seemed to ruin the romantic atmosphere. The staff did all they could make up for it, so maybe next time will be better still.
Wouldn’t recommend, food was terrible, tasted like a microwave curry, all staff were very dismissive, everything was overpriced, portions were tiny, massively disappointed
Food was lovely ! Service excellent. Hotel room was lovely, great view, nice and clean, comfy bed. Only downside was the room was a bit cold
I was very disappointed and humiliated at my experience at Banyan on the Thames. I've been many times before and enjoyed my time but unfortunately the service was poor. I booked my table via open table with a 50% off dinner menu for a group of work colleagues, I also received a confirmation email from open table the day before with the 50% off clearly stated. When it came to payment for the meals it was as if I had made the whole thing up. Apparently there was no 50% off, that promotion expired a long time ago and I had no proof that the promotion existed. To cut a long story short I had to argue my point after 30 minutes and finally receive the offer I had booked. Not a good experience especially in front of my work colleagues and I won't be visiting here again in a hurry.
Food was lovely, but sadly our waiter didn’t speak much English which caused several misunderstandings. Weirdly, he also insisted on taking our pudding order at same time as starters and mains! My partner ordered a Jack Daniels and coke but when I came it clearly was not JD (my partner drinks it everyday so knows it very well) so he sent it back, the barman was very aggressive telling the waiter to take the bottle to the table to prove it was! Had the food not been good I would have walked out, they obviously have a decent chef.
really poor service there was no body at the host station, told by a bar tender to just find a table left waiting for a while overall not happy
Food was brilliant however service to take our order was slow to begin with but once taken the food and service was excellent.
The experience indeed very disappointing. It was a birthday dinner and a special occasion for my girlfriend . The evening was spoilt by the staff removing all the tables around us and making it into a dance floor when we had not even completed our dinner. When we asked what was happening - the interaction with the staff was poor, they just told us they were expecting a wedding party to start, had I known this I would not have booked in the first place - the food was average but hardly a inspiring fusion food as stated on the menu. Disappointed night and need to now make it up to my girlfriend
The food was very tasty and well cooked. Everything we had was good. The service was first class and the staff made a real effort and were very friendly. There is a nice bar and the place overlooks the Thames but there were not a lot of patrons which was fine for us but can sometimes be a negative.
Had an excellent midweek night at the Banyon, food was delicious and the service was excellent.I will definitely be back there again, ideal for a special occasion too!
Amazing place good food right next to the Thames with great scenery good service value for money I would definitely recommend it really had a good night
Great good well worth the visit and staff are friendly
Lovely riverside dining with a vast food menu option. The bartender does not start until 3pm on Saturday, so if you have a cocktail person, I suggest you book after 3pm.
I have been here a few times and it does not disappoint.
Fantastic as always! Really good Indian food and so reasonable also
Very bad food. Tasted awful. Comer crab had sharp bits in it. Mango pieces were black at one end. Tasteless crab and the same time an awful taste that you can’t get rid for hours. Chicken curry was pot of cream. Cod had no taste but the sauce was nice. Place mats on the table was a joke. Staff has no blood on their faces and no enthusiasm. Felt sorry for my 16year old who paid for my mother’s day dinner.
We went there for a birthday celebration and we had amazing time! Food was incredible, service was great and ambience was excellent! We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there... Outstanding experience:)!
Very average food and hugely overpriced - even with a discount!
I'm hoping that this happened to be a bad day for the restaurant however upon my arrival there were no staff to greet me and rather than being shown to my table a staff member pointed to a table I had booked for lunch for 10 people to celebrate my birthday. As my guests started to arrive one person went to the toilet only to find out that they weren't working... in fact none of the toilets in the hotel or restaurant worked due to no running water. At no point did anyone attempt to contact me prior to my arrival to tell me this was the case and it wasn't mentioned on my arrival either. We ordered food and as it started to arrive the fish from the 3 portions of fish and chips ordered were all overcooked. My daughters meal had been forgotten and the waiter had to come out to confirm what she had ordered. All in all I was very disappointed and as a group we all decided not to order dessert as we had no faith it would meet expectations. The location however was beautiful with a great view of the river and heliport.
Food was really nice but the place really lacked atmosphere... the staff didnt seem bother at all (when we left the barman was on his phone and didnt even say goodbye). Also we thought we booked a good deal through opentable (50% off) but found out that their menu is always discounted (prices are advertised inclusive of the 50% offer even if not booked through open table). The quality of the food is what saved the evening.
New Year’s Eve was a shambles. Waited for ever for food. Very cheaply decorated. Food was ok. Service was slow but this was down to there not being enough staff on duty. The staff that were there were running around trying to do the work of 10 others. Left without seeing in the new year or eatin dessert. Extremely disappointed.
Not a great experience here at all. We’d just got married (which they ignored!) and it was NYE, so had a lot to celebrate. We were rushed in and served starter and main within about 20 mins! Then had to wait 1 hour and 45 mins until dessert. Food was really average too and we’ll over priced. We then had to try and rush to see fireworks but the lift was broken so had to walk 11 flights of stairs. After that we went to the bar for a rum and coke, which were both totally flat. The barman argues with us and shook the bottle many times to show there were still bubbles!!! So so rude. Will never be going back and I really recommend everyone else to avoid too!
Food and cocktails where very good but all was let down by poor and inattentive service.
Wonderful food & atmosphere as always
We waited almost 1 hour 45 minutes for our food (it was my friends birthday). Service was appalling as the lady could not understand a word we were saying and she was very RUDE. Refused us a cup of tea because the kitchen had closed but it was the reasturants fault we waited SO Long for our food. I would never go back again as I have had better service, food and views at other reasturants.
Love coming here for a catch up with friends. 50% off is really good. Menus look a bit worn and could do with updating and staff a little miserable which isn't usual.
Delicious Indian and Thai food in an amazing river front setting. Superb service by the delightful and very helpful Fiqerete. Fantastic local luxury find for us and wonderful all year round due to its location in a 5 star hotel on the river, the views are amazing. Looking forward to visiting in the summer, great bar too!
4th time in going to restaurant , lovely food and ambience as per usual even the owner came to our table to personally check on how we was doing , it was the icing on the cake and look forward to coming back soon
This restaurant is very enjoyable. A good varied menu. Nothing that I would not recommend. This was my 3rd visit and each time has been equally enjoyable.
Good food, great service and excellent wines and cocktails and a wonderful view overlooking the Thames.
I enjoyed the restaurant so much that I booked it again for my husband's 60th birthday party. We all had a great time with excellent service. I'm actually considering it for my son's wedding reception in December.
This was the strangest restaurant experience ever; talk abot bizarre. At the time , they had a 'sale' on their food so all was 50% off??! It was really odd. Good selection of food, which was good quality - but the place is more suited to nightlife than day time eating! And we were the only ones in there too!
