BaoziInn - Romilly Street
Baozilnn -人民公社, meaning “people’s canteen” has been brought to you by Barshu group, which, twelve years ago, caused a sensation on the London restaurant scene by opening Barshu Restaurant.
Poor service and we waited long for the food
Service was really slow. Had to wait 25mins for a pre booked table. Food was really bad. Half of it was inedible. Avoid.
Delicious as always!
The food all arrived at the same time despite our instructions and none of it was particularly hot. There was no attention to our needs during the meal and we had to repeatedly ask for simple things like a glass for the water ordered. The quality of the dishes was average.
Great tasting food and good service. However, main portion size was very small.
Our group of 6 really enjoyed our meal. It was authentic and the food was fresh and piping hot. Especially appreciated the courteous and friendly service.
It was a special occasion and I pre booked a table. As we came through the door, we were told they dont accept walk ins... welcome impression was cold, unfriendly and uninviting. We proceeded to the back of the restaurant and was placed in a room with no windows, although there were tables available in the front. The waitress agreed to move us after a bit of discussion. Food wise, the flavours were bland. Not worth the visit at all. Items from the menu was not available, which added to the disappointment. Avoid.
Went for dinner on a monday night and had an awesome time. The food was super tasty and our table was in a cozy corner by the window. The young waiter (with the glasses) was amazing! and took the time to explain, in a very calm manner, the differences between the different Wonton and Jiaozi available. His calmness was contagious and after a day of work it made the meal that much more enjoyable. Would go back for the food and for the service!
Exceptional dim sum - go at the weekend for the best dumplings
Poor value / quality mains
Service attentive but not the quickest
Delicious Dim Sum! Really some of the best in London! Great service as well.
Really liked BaoziInn - food was ready very quickly and a large choice to make. Traditional pork dumplings were our favourite but plenty of other options.
We booked to eat at Baozilnn based on the many postitive reviews by other customers. Unfortunately it didn't quite meet our expectations. The food was good but not great. The tables are tiny so be sure you are very comfortable sitting very close to whoever you are dining with. Otherwise general ambience is nice and calming.
Convenient. Not quiet.
Fab food and wonderful service. Can choose one or two plates to start and then add to it with no long waits
The worst service! Would not come back.
It’s took 30 mins for the waitress to bring us drinks, despite been stood in the room. Eventually we had to get it our self’s. They messed up our order and all our food was cold. Ruined our evening
Good choice of freshly cooked food. Tried several dishes, all very good . service was good and waiter was very helpful.Would definitely go again.
Excellent food. Keep it up
Although the food was tasty, service was very slow and the food was relatively pricey
Fantastic service. High quality food.
What a great find, food was fantastic, service was great, loved the whole experience and will most certainly be visiting it again for the great food and just to hear Joe’s laugh lol
Food was excellent as always! Some of the best dim sum in London. Good service too
Our own lovely cubby hole table for 7. Good service, great value, good fun!
Really overpriced for not very nice food, will not be returning unfortunately.
The food was average, good to look at but bland in flavour
Loved it! Love the food and the friendly service.
The food was ok but extremely overpriced.
And there was no desert menu!
Sadly i will not return there again.
The food was colourful and well presented but the taste left us unimpressed
On booking I was not informed that the table was time limited. I was not informed when I arrived at the table. Only on clearing the main course plated were we informed that we had to leave as they needed the table back. No coffee or desserts possible. The waiter had limited communication skills and didn’t make any apology, just shrugged. I was left feeling “we’ve had your money, now get lost!” This restaurant doesn’t deserve to succeed with that sort of customer service. The food was fine and up and until being thrown out I would have considered it a perfectly acceptable evening. However ultimately the night was spoilt and I would never go back or recommend it - you are not valued as a customer at all.
Great authentic food, different menu to most Chinese restaurants.
The only flaw was that there seems to be no more leave teas accompanying the delicious and very authentic food.
I can very much recommend the experience!
We love dim sum and came to BaoziInn in Romilly Street with high hopes. The service was lovely, the food was fine but perhaps we didn't pick the best things on the menu - the dim sum was nice but we've had better at more traditional places. Our Dan Dan noodles were really overpowering verging on unpleasant. The bill was not expensive but again nowhere as reasonable as other traditional Chinese dim sum restaurants / eateries. I would be willing to give it another go but not rushing back.
Service was ok, we asked for water, my glass was barely half full. We asked to change tables as the room we were in was very small & had no natural light, we were told this wasn’t possible even though the ground floor seemed sparsely populated. The rice came about 5 mins before the dim sum - We waited. “Oh the dim sum takes longer to cook than the rice” said our waitress - so why not hold off on the rice or at least explain that to us up front & give us the option? The rice was delicious as was the colourful dim sum but there were some nodules of fat in the pork. The mixed platter of skewers was all meat, some of it fatty & chewy and there was no prawn as stated on the menu. Sadly the experience did not meet our expectations.
Baozi Inn used to have a gorgeous Hunanese based dumpling menu. They recently changed their menu and now it’s just a little bit...basic.
Dumplings are the star here! Excellent. The skewers are great, the seasoning isn't the best. Will definitely be going back!
Amazing and tasty food. Service was patient and helpful to explain and recommend menu. 100% recommend!
Food was good, although spicy, but it was so noisy we left before finishing our meal, and did not consider desert.
This was our second visit in only 2 weeks, on our first visit we gatecrashed a friends date night and joined them for dinner, it was soo good that when we were arrange dinner with other friends of ours BoaziInn was top of the list. So many excellent dishes here, Dan Dan Noodles are my husbands favourite, as is the Aubergine in Fish-fragrant Sauce (doesn't actually have fish sauce in it and is vegan friendly), my favourites are the Classic Xiao Long Bao with Minced Pork (best soup dumplings I have ever had) and Chengdu Jiaozi (pork filled dumplings).
Delicious food, not a lot of variety of fillings for the dumplings but delicious nevertheless. Lovely cute place with a good vibe! Would definitely go back again.
Food was good, but the incorrectly provided one of our dishes. Then forgot to provide one of the dishes we actually ordered, but we realised later that they still charged us for it.
Fab food and service and cannot wait to return! This was my second visit, the service was attentive and not overbearing and if you are not familiar with the menu, the staff make some great recommendations. Perfect for a pre-theatre meal 😀
