Paid 12 quid for an underwhelming fried rice dish, portion was tiny and had only 2 bits of broccoli. All the meals we had were disappointing. Service was mediocre, not friendly, but not exactly rude. You had to press a button to get attention and had to order by writing your choice on a paper menu.. felt like ordering a school canteen rather than a nice restaurant experience. The music was late 1990s boy/girl band music (all saints, boyzone etc), hardly the ambience I was expecting. The food portions were pretty small and the meals generally underwhelming, which would be fine if it was cheap - but was definitely overpriced for what you get. You would get better food from a food stall at an outdoor market. I honestly wouldn't go back, but having read so many good reviews of this place I'm surprised it was rated so highly. Haven't tried the other locations so i can't compare, but I won't bother given our meal at Soho venue.
Really delicious fresh food, and attentive service - really wonderful meal, highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nice food, we got sat in a little room off the main restaurant which was not as good atmosphere as the main restaurant and the service was a little slow, you have to use this button to call them to take to order and it seemed to take a while. Very good food though.
Food was average.
Restaurant very busy and after 1.30h we were asked to leave the table as there was another booking.
Service not very good.
The food was quite nice but felt rushed by the wait staff to order so the experience of being there was not pleasant. Good if you want a quick meal but not the best if you want a slower pace.
Food was okay, but ambience was not as cosy as I thought.
We had pre-booked this restaurant and were seated in a back room on our own - felt like a prison - however, soon a table in the window became available. Ordering was complicated - seem to be over complicating a very simple procedure. We came because the dim sum was highly rated - however, our steamed dumplings were a bit stodgy - EVERYTHING else was superb, apart from the wine which was shockingly bad. The flavours of the dim sum were amazing, the skewers were delicate, the crispy beef was the best we've ever had, the cucumber was enchanting,
Amazing jiaozi, especially the prawn ones. The wantons in soup were delicious as were the skewers. Food very nice. Green tea in a mug with a tea bag was a bit naff abs we had a dirty glass which was concerning from a hygiene perspective. However everything else was fine.
An absolute treat - post-theatre dim sum... Really nice staff, and the most delicious dumplings and noodles. I'm sure everything on the menu would be delicious, but I have to recommend the steamed prawn won ton, the pork jiaozi and the vegetarian dan dan noodles. Obviously, they don't do all the dim sum in the evening, but there's a good selection. Lovely, and we'll be going back.
Amazing service, delicious food, pretty good value for money!
They had amazing food. Great experience. Highly recommended!!
Disappointing service and food. Would not recommend to anyone
Amazing food, amazing service. Make sure to try the salt and pepper squid!
Outstanding food but hideously expensive
Absolutely delicious authentic dim-sum platters, spicy aromatic szechuan dishes and soups, the Ma Po Tofu or Aubergine Sweet and Sour are must trys for veggie friends! - perfect for a you +3 wine and dine after work or a date night! 100% coming back!
Had crispy shredded chicken and a dim sum platter which was very nice. Having read previous reviews on this Restuarant I would only say it was standard and personally I wouldn’t rush back.
The food was great - the Dan Dan noodles and the dumplings are a must-have. Service was not bad, although the waiters were sometimes a bit abrupt. Food is priced decently for central London. Overall would definitely recommend it!
Great service and food. Lacking in atmosphere / music / ambience / etc
Quite expensive if you take teenagers!!
Great service, fab food! Perfect for a family gathering!
Visited the Soho branch - Overpriced and poor value for money. Dark & dull decor with peeled off wallpaper or wall plaster. Pictures and reviews on the internet is misleading. If you are vegetarian/vegan please avoid going here as the restaurant uses Fish sauce in their food. There was no flexibility to meet the customer demand. Overall, a complete disappointment.
I booked a table but was disappointed to be seated in the basement. Having good ventilation is important because of Covid, so I didn't feel safe seating downstairs. The dandan noodles and jiaozi were excellent, but I found the mapo tofu mediocre.
he staff was very rude, didn't explain the dishes and then messed up on informing what is chicken/veg or pork.
We didn't knew the portion size , so order few extra dishes later, but then the staff said no more orders after this as we are busy. We looked around, whole of basement was empty, not sure what they wanted from us.
We had booked the table in advance, so were not expecting such service.
From food perspective, except for bao, everything we ordered was amazing, shame the staff let us down.
Poor service. Despite having a reservation, walk in’s were seated before us and then the waitress/host forgot we were upstairs despite using the bell to call for service for ages. Food served hastily and without much care. Really disappointing as could not be more different from their smaller place on Newport Court.
Food was lovely. It was just a shame we weren't allowed to order more dishes after our first order.
Food was excellent
Service was quick however bit rude we felt as the conversation was very abrupt.
Don't appreciate being spoken to rudely if we were just trying to be helpful and pay upstairs as we noticed they asked others previously to come upstair to pay as the signal was poor downstairs. Otherwise would definitely visit again. The service doesn't make me want to pay their discretionary service charge but we did.
Our table was ready when we arrived for dinner. Service was too quick and too efficient and felt a bit rushed. However, the food was delicious and overall a great restaurant. Would definitely go back again and again and again!
We had an absolute feast of delicious food, great service too. The dishes are perhaps a bit more attuned to the British palate than 'true' Chinese, but very good all the same.
Really accommodating service and delicious food, we had a wonderful evening here!
Dumplings were great but pork was dry and tough. Not much atmosphere.
Delicious dim sum dinner, well organised restaurant, especially with the menu and call button which makes its way in London.
Delicious food, excellent service and cozy atmosphere
Delicious Chinese food! One of the best in Soho, highly recommend.
Seated downstairs slightly cramped . Efficient service but probably could give more advice on choice for the inexperienced of us. Food was good
No one at entrance and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated even though we had booked and turned up on time. Service could best described as brusque and unfriendly. Food arrived haphazardly and our order was in complete. Food was bland and quiet basic. We we asked for missing items we we informed that the waitress had not passed the full order to the kitchen even though it was a ticked list ordering system. We were offered no apologies and decided it wasn’t worth waiting longer for what was likely to be more below par food. The restaurant also very cold and so the food went cold quickly. Surprising all the reviews online rate this restaurant very positively. We won’t be going back any time soon
hostess was rude and the food was not good. the victoria branch is better
We arrived on time and were shown to the table relatively quickly.
There was no guidance on how the ordering system worked and nobody appeared at the table to explain.
Eventually we got our order in and the drinks soon turned up. Then we waited for the food. And waited. And waited.
After 50 mins of waiting - Nobody from the staff had appeared to explain what was happening - we had to get the attention of one of the staff to enquire where the food was.
After a couple of minutes they appeared back and threw a couple of dishes onto the table, one of which (some noodles) were stone cold. It was obvious that it had been sitting somewhere for a while and forgotten about until we asked.
We called over a member of staff to say that the noodles were cold and they basically said "If you want it recooked you're going to wait a long time". It had been around an hour since we ordered at this point so we decided to eat the cold noodles.
When we were eating the manager appeared and asked what the problem was. We told him and then he said that "They were busy and had cooked for over 400 people that day". To be honest this is a pathetic excuse - It's all well and good you've done that but if you can't manage the food coming out for the people actually in your restaurant then you're doing something wrong.
The rest of the food turned up after we had finished the noodles and there was no complaint with that.
The manager did remove the service charge at the end of the meal which is just as well as I wouldn't have paid it.
I would have loved to recommend this place to other people but I can't and I won't be returning.
The service is bad, takes a very long time to get your food with 40 mins in between dishes. We had to balance our table with our feet and elbows so nothing fell off. Waitress didn’t try very hard to fix it or move us.
Went for lunch and were seated on ground floor which didn’t appear to be that busy. However, service was terrible. Waiter took ages to take order. We had dumplings which were all very nice. But ordered more food and ended up cancelling it as it took so long. Good food, shame about the service. Certainly won’t be rushing back,
Delicious dim sum. Nice atmosphere. Decided to also order some skewers after finishing the dim sum and had to wait a while and they arrived cold but we had a theatre to get to so didn’t ask them to be reheated. Would stick to the dim sum which was delicious which is what we went for.
