An awkward entrance, uncomfortably overcrowded as we waited for our table to be readied, did not prevent us from enjoying a truly splendid meal.

Though Bar Boulud may be a bit pricey, the food, service, and atmosphere are all very good. Not too noisy--even on Saturday evening--though the place was full. We had an excellent dinner.

We had a reservation yet were not seated for 20-30 minutes after the time that was confirmed. The hostess was rude and said everyone had to wait. The entire staff did not seem equipped to navigate the crowd. The noise level was ridiculous and it took way too long to have our wine served. We ordered the wine pairings yet the food for each course came without wine....we had to keep asking. Not a pleasant way to spend Valentine’s. Service outright sucked. Never wish to go back. It’s hard to believe this is owned by Daniel Boulud. Will never return.

They were busy because it was Valentine’s Day- menu was limited for that reason due to prefix which was expected. The service was top notch they have a lot of people on the floor making sure your glass is never empty from water or wine and you are not waiting ever to make a request for something. I had to make a change to the reservation and I casually mentioned that besides valentines it was our anniversary I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it I just was explaining why I wanted to make sure we got a table. I was pleasantly surprised when they brought a little extra dessert on a plate that said happy anniversary. It’s the little things that make people remember a place. That, and it didn’t hurt that the Fois gras and Duck were absolutely fantastic as was the macaroon with raspberry sorbet dessert! Thank you Bar Boulud!

We arrived 10 minutes early and the hostess couldn’t find us a place to wait. She refused to ask other guests at the bar to move closer that we (2 people) would not have to stay on a side way. Then, our seating was delayed. The wait stuff did not care a bit to interrupt us any time he appeared at the table. Our dining took about 2 hours, at that time the place was pretty empty, the waiter just gave us our check. Based on that experience, the service itself takes a priority over the customers.

tentive staff and great food. I love their restaurant week menu. So many tasty options! My boyfriend liked his truffled pork even though he couldn't taste the truffle. He loved the mashed potatoes that came with the dish. My salmon had nice crispy skin and was quite fresh. Our soup (french onion and Parisian mushroom soup) was tasty. The mushroom soup was quite filling and delicious. For dessert I had chocolate mousse which was made with dark chocolate. Quite smooth and airy. The mouse was topped with whipped cream. My boyfriend had the citrus tart which had great flavor but I thought it was a little too sweet. I recommend this restaurant.

Delightful dining experience. The steak was perfectly done--crisp on the outside, but tender and juicy on the inside. And even the mushroom soup was impressive--very flavorful and airy.

Food at Bar Boulud is incredibly good, reason why I visit this restaurant about once a month. This Saturday brunch was highlighted by the great service provided by Dusan; one to five, I give him a big 6. Thank you Dusan for making my brunch special.
My experience could had been unforgettable if the hostess would had use the empty back area more wisely, spreading people across instead of sitting us next to each other (making it imposible to talk to my date)...seriously, everything empty and she decides to sit people right next to one. I guess common sense is not that common.

Everything was excellent, except for the escargots. It tasted quite bland, as if it was poured out of a can. I would not have expected that at a Boulud restaurant. It was definitely not on par with the rest of our orders which, in contrast, were excellent. I regret that I did not ask for a replacement.

I adore Bar Boulud but have two suggestions:

1) change the menu once in a while. Cassoulet a great addition.

2) serve non- alcoholic wines. You have non-a beer but no wine. It's coming in fast.

I have wanted to go to Bar Boulud with my husband for awhile. We chose tonight and Restaurant Week but I am not sure the restaurant was properly prepared for Restaurant Week. We had a table by the front that we had to squeeze into to be seated and it took 15 minutes to for our order to be taken. I understand that it was busy but it felt like they shoved extra tables in and it was quite uncomfortable. The food was excellent but just wasn't a fan of the seating (the chairs were really uncomfortable) or the service.

I ACCIDENTALLY made my reservation for the wrong day, the host was more then accommodating and found us table. My mother uses a walker and we were easily able to navigate our way to the table towards the back of the dinning room. The host effortlessly stored her walker and upon our departure it magically reappeared. I could not have been happier with my food. We dine here only during restaurant week and I can honestly say this was quality food very well prepared. I have recommend it to my friends and colleagues as the best restaurant week menu available in NYC.

A lovely lunch in a relatively quiet spot, which I had requested, and for which I was grateful. My lunch companion and I ate from the Restaurant Week menu. We had salad and and pate. Both were delcious, the salad fresh and crisp and tasty, the pate just an excellent one. We both had salmon, which was cooked beautifully and flaked to a touch of the fork in a very satisfactory fashion. Altogether at very satisfactory experience.

Met friends for dinner after many movie. Thought Monday would be quieter since most of Lincoln center is dark but it filled up pretty quickly. We all had the restaurant week menu and it was delicious. Onion soup a bit salty but the duck, coq au vin and salads nicoise were all excellent as were the lemon tart and chocolate mouse. I am not usually fond of restaurant week meals but these were terrific.

We dined here for a pre-opera dinner and had a great time. Everyone was attentive and friendly. We dined, accidentally, during restaurant week and did not feel limited by the restaurant week menu. It was a great value. We enjoyed the escargot and Parisian mushroom soup, which they kindly split between the two of us without us asking- see, attentive! We also enjoyed the cassoulet which was rich warm and comforting as well as the moules marinières which were sweet and soft. I can see the cost outweighing the value of the food outside of restaurant week at Bar Boulud since this is chef Bouluds more casual concept.
