Bar Douro London Bridge
Unfortunately I was expecting tables but we got seats at the bar. That said, my friend and I were able to see the cooks preparing the food, one of them was amazingly friendly and she would give us some bites of sauces to try!
We had the pataniscas de bacalhau, bacalhau a brás and batatas a murro. I've been to Portugal lots of times and I wanted to show some of their food to my French friend, and all I can say is that yes, it's as good as the food I've eaten in Portugal. The bacalhau (codfish) was so good-looking it made a person beside us lose control and keep looking at our food.
The wine unfortunately was *very* expensive, so I ordered a beer instead. They serve Portuguese beers there and I'd recommend a Super Bock, I'm not a big fan of Sagres.
I'd definitely come back there lots of times!
The food is incredibly tasty and there’s an excellent selection of Portuguese wines on the menu to complement the small plates. Loved the cod hash and the sausage croquettes.
Great service and beautiful decor too. It’s a small restaurant, so you’ll be perching on a stool at a bar or a counter - but it somehow adds to the overall ambience.
Because it’s a famous and small venue, we were seated next to where the ready meals stations. However once there was a free window seat i asked the staff and they kindly put next to a window. Do not go without making a reservation! Food was delicious (shrimp a bit overcooked though)
Fantastic food and service, highly recommend. Great menu, relaxed atmosphere and ideal for an informal yet smart dining experience.
The food was luke warm, the service was just bizarre, do not order the octopus as it left me feeling ill for two days....I wish I had of sent that back.
Dear Pima I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent visit to Bar Douro City and that the food was not up to standard. I can also only apologise that you did not find the knowledge and attentiveness of our staff up to our usually high standards. We always welcome feedback from our customers and will try and improve on your points raised, please email me to email@example.com so I can followed up. Kind regards Sol Leon General Manager
A fantastic, authentic restaurant with great food and a great atmosphere. Excellent wine list also. In a world of chain restaurant this very much feels original and well worth a visit.
Simply top-notch! We were delighted. Its flavours are amazing and the quality as well. Alcohol will increase your bill quite a lot... Not so reasonable, but that is how is London!
Small but perfect. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Lovely food and wine . Prices reasonable but felt like we were rushed to make place for the next rotation ofdiners
Amazing great service amazing vibe and delicious food and wine! We’ll be back :)
Sat at the bar.
Chefs were friendly and happy to interact.
Food was really good. Wine was lovely.
Service prompt and engaging.
Perfect Friday night.
Authentic Portuguese food.
Brilliant food and excellent service - an all round great experience.
The food, service and drinks were amazing! Will definitely be back for more! My only problem is that it was slighty cold but apart from that awesome! See you soon
We love the food here. Every time it has been good but this time it was just sensational. Great flavours. Very imaginative dishes and combinations of ingredients yet nothing is done just because it is fashionable. It comes from tradition and is done for the taste.
It's very good on almost everything. If it cost a little less, I'd be there every week. But I guess then it wouldn't be so special.
I love the atmosphere of this place specially when sitting in the bar area. Staff is always friendly.
Definitely recommend, it’s a modern take on Portuguese food, me being a Portuguese and knowing what good traditional food is, I definitely enjoyed and support the concept. Good service and atmosphere
Really special little place with friendly staff, great food and great wine
Great cosy Portuguese place. Chic and modern industrial design with bar eating set-up. Service was impeccable. Average to small portions but delicious food. Flavours and the cooking was amazing. ambience was cool, intimate and romantic. Really wow!
Fantastic food and staff!
The croquettes were by far our favourite dish. The special wines from the Duoro were fantastic.
Obviously biased but what a fantastic spot!
Great to experience a lovely Portuguese restaurant in London.
Atmosphere and decoration great. Wine also great. Food was a bit disappointing - although good portions which is often not the case with small plates. The food was a bit too rich when put together - there needed to be a few lighter options. Also from the counter seats, it’s clear everything is assembled rather than cooked from fresh which adds to the feeling of over-rich food. A few salads or fresh items would help.
It wasn’t bad but didn’t have the wow factor.
Outstanding food service and ambiance. Perfect night out
Lovely little gem discovered in London Bridge away from the crowds. The lamb was delicious and the staff were very helpful, we'll be back.
Such a great little place, the small plates are really generous and filling. Staff are lovely and happy to let me practise my Portuguese! Always feels like a special experience and well worth the money. Booking ahead advisable.
Great service with authentic food, will go back again
Lovely decor and fantastic food. Being able to watch the chef cook the food up close made this a fab experience. Would recommend ordering the crispy polenta, octopus with sweet potato, prawns, salt cod hash and traditional custard tart. Delicious!
Excellent restaurant and cuisine (love the pork and the desert)! I would highly recommend Bar Douro to my friends!
Wonderful! The food was fantastic and the staff make you feel so welcome. Will be back soon.
Best meal I had this year, hands down. The vegetable dishes were very creative, and outshone the meat dishes. Would definitely go again and again!
Great but expensive. 3x as much as you'd expect in Portugal. C'est la vie.
Great date spot!
Also good, if you are thinking about throwing a small party there.
Food is absolutely delicious and staff is super friendly.
Cannot recommend it more.
Lovely venue. Nice and cosy relaxed place. Food was really lovely, tasty. Lots of flavour. It's tapas style dishes.
Portuguese wine from different regions of Portugal. Pastel De nata for dessert, with port! Really great place for meeting with friends or a date night
Lunch on Saturday having been recommended by a colleague. The food and service were excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Bar Douro and will go again.
Lovely place, good ambiance, great service, food ok small portions
Delicious Portuguese food however pricey for the portions served. The wine is amazing.
Good food in cosy but noisy and rather cramped conditions;
Despite booking in Sept for Dec visit, a 3pm booking , it was announced on arrival the kitchen closed @ 3.30pm !? Would have been good to have known and been advised beforehand, sadly the £24 bottle of wine was disappointing, lunch was limited and rushed. Disappointing (particularly as I had booked this a a treat)
Well done to all staff, everything was great. Congrats to the Chef. Cheers
