Bar Douro London Bridge
Monday 16th March
Great knowledgeable service. Delicious food and a nice selection of interesting dishes. Loved the snacks, octopus and prawns with extra bread for the sauce. Pigs cheek so sweet and succulent and my favourite Nata. Great Portuguese wine selection showcasing many unknowns of good quality. Be bold and go with the recommendation of your not sure. This is my second visit and can’t wait to go back. We went for my Portuguese friends birthday as she couldn’t make it to Portugal because of the flight chaos and she was really well looked after by the 2 guys running the floor. One French guy and one Italian guy with a zz top beard. You know who you are. THANK YOU for your top service.
Bosses if your reading this please open one in west London
Overall a very pleasant experience. Definitely order the mushroom rissole, braised pork and the onglet! Skip the polenta (lacking flavor in my opinion), save space for good value Portuguese wine.
A welcoming place with a very good service. We ordered Octopus, chicory which were good. Steak was over done, so didn't like it that much.
This was about my 4th time here and it was the most disappointing. The menu had changed a lot and I just didn’t enjoy the dishes so much. A shame for a place I usually enjoy a lot.
The garlic prawns are soooo tasty! As are the wild mushroom rissoles 🤗
Amazing food and good service as I have come to expect from this place. Highly recommended!
Great food, great service, great experience in an authentic Portuguese restaurant - would highly recommend
We sat by the bar and watched the chef prepare the food. Everything we had was delicious, especially the prawns and the bacalao al bras. The custard tarts with cinnamon ice cream were amazing. Definitely will need to go back for more!
Superb, food was outstanding. Staff are more than helpful from answering to offering advice on choices.
Won’t hesitate to return.
Very good food and wine. Attentive service. The dessert I had was ok (pastel de nata) not very impressive.
The food was amazing! Really tasty food that made me want to go back there again. Staff was friendly as well and we could eat and digest without any rush. The restaurant was clean and good space outside. It will be nice eating at outside area in summer!
Informal place for great food. You dine at a counter which is cosy but the food and atmosphere is very good. Will be back.
Bar Douro retains its niche as a good value bar / bistro that is fine for a quick lunch or dinner. Beautiful Portuguese style tiling and décor. The food is an interpretation of classic Portuguese dishes rather than completely authentic but the wine list is incredibly strong. Recommended
Perfectly decent food but lacking a touch of zing and attention to detail.
Favourite Portugese in town, so excited to try their City branch!
Had a very delicious meal with friendly service. Will definitely go back . Expensive but the food was prepared with care and skill so I felt it was worth it
Ambiente vivace, piccolo ma caloroso. Personale molto cortese e attento. Servizio non velocissimo ma cibo molto gradevole!Prezzi nella media. Ci tornerò!
Delicious food and wine. A great spot in London Bridge.
Great atmosphere and certainly creates the feeling you are back in Porto or LIsbon .Somewhere unique in London which is a must visit
A disappointing evening, which is a shame as I really like this place. We were sat on the end of the bar next to the till and the toilets - it was not a relaxing meal as we were constantly bumped by the waiting staff and the customers trying to get past. Ask for another spot if they try to sit you here. Food was nice, as always.
Lovely restaurant with great food. Have the prawns.
Tasty food in a fun setting. Food quality mixed with certain dishes being stand out (Octopus, prawns) & others such as (crab rice) not being. Expensive am for what you get we pains £40 a person with no drinks
Unfortunately I was expecting tables but we got seats at the bar. That said, my friend and I were able to see the cooks preparing the food, one of them was amazingly friendly and she would give us some bites of sauces to try!
We had the pataniscas de bacalhau, bacalhau a brás and batatas a murro. I've been to Portugal lots of times and I wanted to show some of their food to my French friend, and all I can say is that yes, it's as good as the food I've eaten in Portugal. The bacalhau (codfish) was so good-looking it made a person beside us lose control and keep looking at our food.
The wine unfortunately was *very* expensive, so I ordered a beer instead. They serve Portuguese beers there and I'd recommend a Super Bock, I'm not a big fan of Sagres.
I'd definitely come back there lots of times!
The food is incredibly tasty and there’s an excellent selection of Portuguese wines on the menu to complement the small plates. Loved the cod hash and the sausage croquettes.
Great service and beautiful decor too. It’s a small restaurant, so you’ll be perching on a stool at a bar or a counter - but it somehow adds to the overall ambience.
Because it’s a famous and small venue, we were seated next to where the ready meals stations. However once there was a free window seat i asked the staff and they kindly put next to a window. Do not go without making a reservation! Food was delicious (shrimp a bit overcooked though)
Fantastic food and service, highly recommend. Great menu, relaxed atmosphere and ideal for an informal yet smart dining experience.
The food was luke warm, the service was just bizarre, do not order the octopus as it left me feeling ill for two days....I wish I had of sent that back.
Dear Pima I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent visit to Bar Douro City and that the food was not up to standard. I can also only apologise that you did not find the knowledge and attentiveness of our staff up to our usually high standards. We always welcome feedback from our customers and will try and improve on your points raised, please email me to email@example.com so I can followed up. Kind regards Sol Leon General Manager
A fantastic, authentic restaurant with great food and a great atmosphere. Excellent wine list also. In a world of chain restaurant this very much feels original and well worth a visit.
Simply top-notch! We were delighted. Its flavours are amazing and the quality as well. Alcohol will increase your bill quite a lot... Not so reasonable, but that is how is London!
Small but perfect. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Lovely food and wine . Prices reasonable but felt like we were rushed to make place for the next rotation ofdiners
Amazing great service amazing vibe and delicious food and wine! We’ll be back :)
Sat at the bar.
Chefs were friendly and happy to interact.
Food was really good. Wine was lovely.
Service prompt and engaging.
Perfect Friday night.
Authentic Portuguese food.
Brilliant food and excellent service - an all round great experience.
The food, service and drinks were amazing! Will definitely be back for more! My only problem is that it was slighty cold but apart from that awesome! See you soon
We love the food here. Every time it has been good but this time it was just sensational. Great flavours. Very imaginative dishes and combinations of ingredients yet nothing is done just because it is fashionable. It comes from tradition and is done for the taste.
It's very good on almost everything. If it cost a little less, I'd be there every week. But I guess then it wouldn't be so special.
I love the atmosphere of this place specially when sitting in the bar area. Staff is always friendly.
