Fantastic authentic portugese restaurant. Service and food are excellent. Recommend the white port.
Sit at the bar overlooking the kitchen and enjoy watching the chefs at their work.
Will definitely go again and again and again. Booking is recommended due to limited space.
The food was lovely & given the approval of our Portuguese friend who said it was very authentic! The salt cod hash was amazing! Wine choices were also superb. The service, setting & food/drinks made for a very successful get together & we will definitely be returning. Great value also.
The place is very quaint and relaxed. Food options are limited but are all fantastic to be honest. The octopus, gambriti, and butter squash were outstanding.
Very nice ambiance. We were on counter seats watching everything being made and enjoyed various Portuguese dishes. We loved the grilled sardines and the dessert: pastel de nata
We had a good evening. Staff were great and friendly. We were a group of 4 and sat downstairs which is abit small but otherwise a nice place and good food.
Great little bar with atmospheric vibe. Food was delicious but very small portions for price. Wine was better value, with less of a mark-up than in comparable places. Service was great, reserved but impeccable.
Have been wanting to go to Bar Douro for so long. It lived up to all my expectations! Food was delish! I would recommend going with 3-4people then you can order everything on the menu and taste everything! I will definitely be returning to concur the rest of the menu.
I love going back to Bar Douro but PLEASE, don't wildly overdo the salt on the Porco à Alentejana
Friendly, helpful staff, lovely setting, relaxed meal and some of the best octopus I've ever had.
Great concept, simple but very Portuguese menu cooked well, good service and great atmosphere.
This is becoming quite a regular for me. I really enjoy Portuguese food. I was really pleased to see the pork and clam dish (carne de porco á alentejana) was on the menu. My favourite dish ever.
As usual excellent food and service...
Lovely venue and food - felt like I was on holiday
Consistently amazing food and great choice of quality wine
It's like a Portuguese Barrafina with a Josper and the ability to book! Nice atmosphere, great menu and cooking. Had an awesome time, thanks all!
The food is absolutely fabulous. Carefully chosen sauces and dips go where they should go along with a thoughtful wine list. I've been thinking all week about the flavours and the sensations of my meal. Well done Bar Douro - the staff are attentive, well-informed and well-trained. I only gave you one less star for ambiance because I found perching on a high stool a little tiring. But everything else was top class so who cares about a tine bit of discomfort!
3.5 stars. Pretty space we had a res and it was 1/2 full on a Sat at 7pm.
We sat right at the kitchen bar and it was a little overwhelming heat wise. The vinho verde could have been a little colder but it was tasty - the white port with Tonic cocktail was delicious!
Foodwise we had: octopus, sardines, cheese board and bacalau hash. The octopus was perfectly cooked and tender but the sweet potatoes did nothing to enhance it. The bacalau hash was tasty but needed more salt. The sardines were very good. We also ordered the cheese plate - nothing to rave about we should have ordered another tapa instead.
Overall a nice meal if you are in the area but not exceptional enough to go crosstown for.
I love this place; especially the food. It’s a cosy, at the bar kind of place with fantastic tapas style dishes. The thing that makes me mark it down is the somewhat unfriendly service. This is the second time I have been there and both times the food was fabulous but the service frosty. This surely could be remedied.
Relaxed atmosphere varied menu some novel options all food very good.
Nice place, nice decor, nice atmos. Wine at the cheaper end is quite expensive. 125ml glasses only, which I don't like. Good list for those prepared to go bottle-only. Food generally very good -- interesting, well-presented, quality ingredients. Bread was very good. Quail was exceptional. Bacalhau was a bit greasy.
Amazing food and lovely staff! Definitely going back.
Just inside Flat Iron Square where there are loads of people, music, drinks, etc.
The restaurant itself is a lot quieter so perfect for date night. The menu is limited which made it easier to order. I would recommend 2 tapas per person - we were stuffed after the meal. The team was super knowledgeable regarding allergens and the chefs (who are cooking just next to the tables) are super friendly and having conversations with the customers.
10/10 would go again!
High recommend this place. Delicious food, friendly and prompt service. All the dishes were taste sensations, great ingredients, cooked with care and beautifully presented. Our favs were the Salt Cod Hash, Octopus with sweet potato and Onglet. The other dishes were also delicious - Jerusalem Artichoke, Crab Rissole and Croquetes de Alheira. A good Prosecco or Cava option could be great as the prosecco was incredibly oaky...however, our helpful waiter pre warned plus of this, gave us a taster and we opted for the recommended Vino Verde in instead.
Lovely time out with friends, what a gem to find a Portuguese Rest near my workplace, they book us a table inside, but the weather was so lovely we asked to be sites outiside, which was straight away possible to provide, no fuss.
Food was great, portions are very good even for the
special menu for day meal. Love the very traditional Deco and ambient, very fresh and good to look at.
Wine was also excellent! Will for sure recommended and be back soon with some more friends.
A wonderful Sunday lunch- great atmosphere, wonderful food and lovely wine- topped off with friendly, welcoming service and a clear passion for what they do- absolutely loved it and will definitely be back!
Relaxed. Typical Portuguese decor. Nice crowd. Food is portuguese 'taster' favourites. Well cooked, presented and served. We liked the wine menu and house wine carafe options.
Great food. Good memories of home. My favourite were the bacalhau á braz and the garlic prawns. Delicious.
Amazing food in a cosy setting. Great service. I would recommend to anyone
Delicious and authentic Portuguese tapas style menu served fresh from open kitchen with fabulous wines to match. Great service with help on matching wine to food etc. Very small restaurant so very friendly!
I've eaten here several times and loved it every time. Its good for both lunch and dinner, with good high seats around the bar and also looking out over the terrace (which I am sure will be great in warmer weather). Menu has a good choice of portuguese tapas, and although at the core, its been consistent, they do change it regularly. Particularly highlights have been the garlic prawns, Bacalau, black pudding croquetas, as well as the Tocinho (a very rich almond cake) and pastel de nata to finish things off. Good selection of portuguese wines round out a simple offering, and one I'll be returning again for!
Place was phenomenal, great experience overall. Bar Douro offers a variety of dishes you have probably never heard of. I like the tapas kind of concept that allows you to share with your friends and getting to taste a bit of everything from the menu. Also the location itself is likeable, only defect I might find is they only allow you to eat at the bar. Not the best venue for more than 4 guests. Absolutely recommended!
Fantastic experience - food was fabulous, staff were excellent. Great place
Second time I have been here. Really lovely food, great setting and good service. Great place for a date or nice catch up with friends. Will definitely be going back
This is an experience - we were a table of 4 and they really are not set up for groups, it is more for 2 people as everything is along a bar, so talking as a group was difficult. The service however was impeccable and they went over and beyond. The atmosphere is buzzy, and the dishes are ok but no real WOW factor for me - best thing was the Portuguese Custard Tart with Cinnamon icing, otherwise not that excited - Sorry Bar Douro - maybe next time I try, I will come as a Couple. I would recommend but i'm still not sold - need to try again.
Food was good, nice restaurant, but the wine was really really cheap cheap. £20 for half a litre of red wine which costs 5£ Per bottle is a bit too much.
Food tasty, service amazing (my gf has a lot of allergies that isn’t the easiest to cater for) and friendly chats with the chefs. Didn’t try dessert because were so full from the other food!
Order everything and enjoy. Great place
My husband and I went back to Bar Douro for the fourth time. We tried several Portuguese restaurants in London and this is definitely the best one! Bacalhau à la bras was a highlight this time, along with garlic prawns! My husband is 100% Portuguese as he recommends Bar Douro to all our friends!
Next time we want to taste the grilled sardines and the chorizo...we saw them in the wood oven and the smell brought us back to Algarve...enjoy Bar Douro!
Took some friends for dinner on Tuesday evening as a thank you for some work they had done for our business. We had a great night. The food was excellent and the wine was delicious. This is small plate dining at it's best, I highly recommend.
The best place for everything great service and amazing food
We feel that the Counter style seating doesn't work for more than 2.
