Sunday: 12:00 - 17:00
(Kitchen open between 12.00 - 15:30 and 17:30 -22:30 but snacks are available all day)
Enjoyed the evening! The food was good and so was the selection of wines. It is a great Portugese tapas place with a good variety of dishes. The ambiance is casual but nice and the staff are very friendly. Will definitely return to try some of the other dishes and wines which I did not have the occasion to try.
Had a great meal at Bar Douro. Staff were fantastic and the food and atmosphere really good. Would definitely recommend
A return visit in which I introduced a friend to Bar Douro. Unless you are part of a larger group and book the private room upstairs, the restaurant is better suited to small groups of say 3 or 4 maximum, as the bar seating doesn’t lend itself to larger numbers. The cuisine is Portuguese tapas. 2 to 3 plates each will suffice depending on how hungry you are. One of my friends doesn’t eat meat but had a good selection of vegetables, fish and cheese based dishes to choose from. There are good bottles of Portuguese wine in the £23-£30 bracket. Particularly delicious we’re the marinated artichoke hearts and the salt cod croquetas
great food and service, the lunch menu will need another dish though so allow up to £20 per head for a lunch. the house white was fine, fruity and lovely with the sardines, so around £60 for two + a bottle.
We love this restaurant as a couple took a single friend who loved it just as much as us.
Great food lovely wine but outstanding customer service. Lively and traditional
Friendly service, buzzy atmosphere and good tapas food. Dishes arrived at a reasonable pace and there was no problem ordering more once the first wave was consumed. Second time I have been here and both times its been very good.
Delicious food, but tiny tiny portions so unfortunately not great value, such a pity. It may explain the fact that it wasn’t exactly heaving with people when we went
Loved it. Great food, friendly team, good buzz.
The white port and tonic was a revelation!
Wonderful! We keep coming back for the food and the wine and the personal service. I have recommended to friends and they were happy too.
Booked this restaurant as the pictures of the venue and food looked good in other reviews. However the food is very overpriced. £11 - £13 for tapas soon adds up. The Octopuss consisted of one piece. The service was good and the place is nicely decorated. However I cannot recommend this venue due to the poor value food.
Ordered food and then 30 minutes later the waiter came back to say they’d lost our ticket so had to re-order and wait again.
At the end I asked for the bill which we were told would be right with us. 15 minutes later it was clear we’d been forgotten about so I had to ask again.
When the bill came they had taken one dessert off that cost £4. The attitude was clearly take the cheapest thing off the bill. Other restaurants where I have experienced less of a mess up tend to take a round of drinks off, but I guess it’s their prerogative.
After all of this, they still felt entitled to keep the service charge on the bill (which was obviously more than the £4 dessert), that was the most shocking part.
Won’t be back!
Small so worth booking a table. Food was great and the service was lovely. Would definitely come back
Great food and interesting to watch the chefs and bar staff working, although it was odd that the only cocktail they offer was port and tonic. Still, we had a very good time and will go back to try the food we didn't this time!
Fantastic as usual, respects Portuguese tradition but innovates in unexpected and pleasantly surprising ways.
Fantastic food..! Tasted just like being back in Portugal!
What a great little place, a real find. Food was fabulous, who would have thought tomatoes could taste quite so good!! We sat outside as weather was beautiful but will look forward to going again and enjoying the atmosphere inside next time. Definitely worth a visit
Cod (Bacalao) was delicious. Real Portuguese food and beautiful and cozy place.
Lovely Tapas style food selection and Portuguese wine
Delish! Would go back!
I recommend the Garlic prawns and the nata for dessert!
One of the best Portuguese restaurants in London! I felt like I was in Portugal all over again!
superb, casual service but fits atmosphere, highly recommend
Fantastic restaurant! Very good food, nice environment and good value for money
Delicious food in a lovely room but sometimes unwelcoming and overall inattentive service loses points and for that reason, I'm not in a hurry to go back.
All round loveliness, would recommend sitting t the bar too.
Love this place! Fab food, perfect service and had a table outside in the sunshine as requested (also given the option to move to a better table when it became available a few mins later).
Had a great time good atmosphere, shame about the fryer and the dishes could be a bit more generous a little light on quantity! Good to see such a great selection of Portuguese wines! Friendly service
We visited for lunch on a Sunday to celebrate our anniversary. When we sat down outside we were told that due to the deep fat fryer breaking down over the bank holiday weekend, 4 of the dishes were off the menu, including the croquettes which I had been keen to try. We were disappointed as it was already a very small menu, and we considered finding somewhere else but at that point it started pouring with rain so we decided to stay. Thank goodness we did as the food was spectacular! We shared the sardines special to start with then shared the fish stew and roasted suckling pork. The stew was definitely the best fish stew I have ever had! It's one of my favourite dishes anyway but this was a different level! Utterly divine! The pork was very good too but very small considering the £21 price tag. For pudding we had a Portuguese tart and a slice of chocolate tart both of which were lovely. The Portuguese tart was served warm with cinnamon ice cream. Unfortunately the service was not nearly as good. It was fairly quiet - only about 4 tables - and 2 waitresses on so service should have been far better but they were incredibly slow to clear out dishes and chose at one point to clear the empty table next to us instead our table which had been ready to clear for a good 10-15 mins. However because the food was so god damn delicious I would recommend let it put me off returning if I was in the area again.
food wasn't as good as the last time I went... their fryer wasn't working so at least 5 things not available on the menu which was disappointing. I enjoyed one of the dishes very much but the rest wasn't worth the price tag, in my opinion
Rather cramped but cosy environment - bustling little place - great food albeit a limited menu. Liked it!
It's a great location in London to have a few drinks with friends. The authentic Portuguese tiles makes this place a lovely place to dine and the selection of wine is excellent.
We came for my boyfriends birthday. He grew up in the Algarve and was very impressed with the quality of food here. The bar seating added to the fun vibe and service was fast considering it was a Saturday evening.
Sensational - my girlfriend and I had a fantastic evening. Terrific wine and food. Service was excellent - would recommend x
The food at Bar Douro was absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend saving some space for the natas at the end of your meal. The only downside was the service. We had to wait ages to be served. Most times the waiting staff would ignore us trying to flag them down. And some were just down right rude. May have been a bad day of the staff been understaffed .. but not sure I would repeat it again... though the food is probably worth giving it a second chance
the food was superb and so was the service. the food is tapas style so I definitely recommend to try at least 3 or 4 dishes each
2nd visit and will return. Love everything about Bar Douro apart from bathroom facility but that’s probably my age talking.
Great place, delicious food, fantastic port and wine choices.
Excellent food as per usual and very warm service
Great food and service. Will definitely visit again.
This was very disappointing compared to the few times I visited when Bar Duoro first opened. Whilst the menu hadn't changed there seemed to be a bit of tiredness that had crept in to the preparation. Service was inattentive so only the quality of the wine list and the generally nice atmosphere in the place were redeeming factors. Needs a shake-up.
Loved our meal, everything was delicious, still thinking about the salt cod hash, staff very helpful, pleasant, friendly, and the bill was reasonable considering we had pre dinner drinks and wine as well as many many many plates. Thank you for a lovely evening.
