The food of Sichuan province in southwest China is one of the world's great cuisines. Its most famous characteristic is its fiery spiciness, which comes from the liberal use of chillies and lip-tingling Sichuan pepper. But hot and spicy is only part of the story. Sichuanese chefs are legendary for their ability to combine many different tastes into exquisite complex flavors. Some of these are robustly spicy, while others are delicate and teasing. And the use of chilies is so inventive that their taste never palls.

At Barshu we want to bring you the best of the authentic flavours of Sichuan. Food is fantastic. Came with a Chinese friend who was really impressed. Only downside was they missed something off our order which they then had to go and make late, which meant we came up against the hour and a half time limit. So the end was a bit rushed. But still would strongly recommend as the food is so great

Always a delightful experience! It's a resturant we go to for many years and nice to see how they recovered from the Pandemic! Authentic real Chinese dishes! Always liked their decorations! Friendly staff and the manager Winston! Lovely evening out!

Barshu has quickly become my favourite Chinese restaurants in London. It fondly reminds me of all the beautiful flavours I enjoyed while living in Shanghai. No other restaurant has quite come close. The menu has a great selection, the décor is beautiful and the staff make you feel incredibly welcome. I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes!

Beautiful genuine Szechuan food, excellent quality and decent sized portions. Service was good, some waiters very polite and engaging, others rather surly and brusque. Although appreciating the quality and its location in the heart of Theatre land, to me it was slightly too expensive.

A wonderful meal at Barshu, as always. It's been a couple of years since we were last able to eat here, and we were relieved to find that it was just as good as we remembered. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, the staff were very attentive and service was quick. Our only problem was wanting to order too many things from the menu!

Food was incredible! Really nostalgic from growing up in China sot his hit the spot! We got given a private room (which wasn’t requested) so there was a bit of confusion at the start regarding minimum spend but our waiter was friendly and really helped sort it out. Overall a great experience.

Extremely poor service. Staff unknowledgeable on menu, and rude. We were vegetarian so asked if food was vegetarian and the response was don’t know! not sure! Also when food arrived didn’t say what dish it was just put on table. No service! Had to ask to top up jasmine tea, staff didn’t seem too keen on serving. Food pretty average and was all cold when served. When asked for dessert menu staff rudely replied there is no dessert at this restaurant!

We had a very enjoyable evening at Barshu. Chose the smashed cucumber and wood ears as starters and our mains included their signature chilli boiled fish. The only issue we had was the chicken and mushroom clear soup, which came last, after we had nearly finished our meal! Not a big deal, but the delay meant that we didn't have the inclination to order dessert. The hard-pressed waiters were courteous and attentive throughout and apologised for the delay.

The food was great but service was awful, I have been to this restaurant may time I use to like it as it felt different from china town restaurant as usually service was bad but not this time mot seem to be any different form any other just tad more expensive , and service is seem to getting worse and worse the waiting staff so rude , keep rushing us even though we eat so quick, at one point the waiter telling us off because we are sitting on table for 4 but we are only 2 really nasty the way he’s said it to me. Never experience which a way , I understand that i have book a table for 3 but at last minute one person didn’t turn up , but at this point we almost finished our meal already . I don’t think I will be visiting this place again. As it is other pace elsewhere

Very comfortable and everybody are so kind one thing I want to point out is there were some insects flying above us. That was really disgusting. Others are all fine. Wonderful restaurant

Exceptionally flavorful cuisine, prepared and presented with obvious care. We’ve had Sichuan cuisine in the past and all our favorite dishes were available —and each item served by Barshu was the best we’ve ever had. The menu may be a bit overwhelming if you are new to this cuisine, but the waitstaff is helpful. When the restaurant is full, the noise level is high, but this did not detract from our enjoyment. Truly a wonderful and memorable dining experience!

We had traveled a long way to eat here. The food is very good. The service is abysmally indifferent. However one of the staff- Alice- was absolutely superb. She wasn't our server but went out of her way to be helpful, make us feel special & really salvaged our evening. Thank you Alice.
