Have used Bathurst Arms on a number of times and was very happy with it. Sunday was difficult. We sat inside as I was concerned about adverse weather. There were a good number of tables outside which made the inside sparse of customers and lacking ambiance. Obvious shortage of staff to service both out and in. Sunday roast was either BBQ brisket or pork. Don't know why they had gone for brisket instead of traditional roast beef but it was not too appetising. Hot food had been served on lukewarm plates and veg was too al dente. Quite a wait for the food. Was going to book for a party of 10 for 8th August but am now reconsidering.

Nice place with plenty of shade outside to sit and chat by the river. Only gripe was that the tables and benches had bird poo on them that was not cleaned off.

Absolutely brilliant waiter service. The food was delicious. It was lovely to try something a little different and the location next to the River Churn could not be faulted. I slightly question why the tiny dishes of food are so expensive. Given that in order to feel satiated each person needs two of the dishes, that means a basic price of at least £18 for a main meal. However, overall it really is a lovely place to have an evening out, just have a snack before you go!

We found the menu very disappointing. Too pretentious and overpriced for a Sunday lunch in a country pub. Either small plates which weren’t described as to portion size so assumed starter size , or roast. Nothing in between. I’d prefer to see a couple of classic pub options. I had to ask the waitress to explain small plate sizes. Apparently you add extras (chips, etc) to make up to a normal substantial meal size. Too confusing so opted for roast to be sure. Roasts were very tasty. Portion sizes were fine. Excellent! The staff didn’t look very happy, didn’t see one smile at all and didn’t do a check back. All in all we decided we wouldn’t return due to the menu being so limiting. We were disappointed as we travelled from Tewkesbury especially as we enjoyed this pub in the past.

Good food. Some dishes quite expensive compared to others. £10 for one scallop! Became busy on Saturday night around 5:30. Waited a long time from ordering - around 75mins. But food very good when it arrived. Lovely atmosphere - the stream with the ducks is lovely to watch and a nice place to cool off!

Although we booked online through open table the manager seemed surprised to see us. We had not visited for some time and were a little confused by the new menu and the ‘small plates’ options. This could be better explained, so that ordering a balanced meal is more straight forward. There was little that was suitable for our two 12 year olds, other than chips. And there did not seem to be an option to order a standard meal. But… once we had managed to decide what to order (which was a bit of everything) the food was lovely. The service was quick and attentive, and the setting was nice. Will definitely go back.

Good food, pleasant polite service but irritating music outside, that I thought was someone’s car radio but turned out to be piped music in the garden - which is so unnecessary in the middle of the day in a lovely country location.

We had ate here a few years ago with our daughter and there was no issue, however this time we came there was no child’s menu, little on the menu that would be suitable for a child and to be honest little for adults. When food arrived we were not asked if we wanted other condiments, no salt and pepper on table This is not your usual pub food and I’m aware that’s not a problem for others but was rather a surprise after eating here before. We now know what to expect so won’t be returning with a child at least.

Mark and I used to visit the Bathhurst arms last year, Mark is a serving in the military so it was the first time we have managed to get time to visit. Jordon and his team are a lovely bunch of people, friendly, accommodating and make the overall experience a lovely one. We both had a Sunday Lamb roast, Mark is incredibly picky and he was blown away, the meat was tender, a great big bowl of vegetables, fantastic gravy. Overall one of the best Sunday roasts we have had in a long time. We love this place as its where we first met but despite that, it is a great place to meet friends, family etc - lovely location with great staff and food!

First trip to Bathurst Arms in many years and since it changed ownership. Plenty of interesting and tasty food options but portion size varies considerably. You are very reliant on the friendly staff's advice on whether one or two dishes are required for a filling meal.

Lovely setting and a concept I wanted to love, small plates and inventive combinations. Execution let it down. Some dishes lacked seasoning and had been pre plated so weren’t in the best condition when reaching the table. Service was stretched and not all that welcoming.

Wonderful Sunday roast in the glorious teepee, however I would say the Honey Sponge Pudding was incredibly disappointing….dry, no honey flavour: needed a honey sauce. I would also say that they need to enforce a rule of mask wearing for staff. When you wear a mask it must cover your mouth and nose , and not worn as a neck warmer!!! This aspect was very poor and inconsiderate.

Our first time to the Bathurst Arms. What a pleasant sunrise. The staff were friendly, food was very good. The covid safe plastic screens are an oddity that I hope we do not have to live with for too much longer. The table was a little sticky? A nice choice of beers. Would definitely recommend.

We went for Sunday lunch to celebrate Father’s Day. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the menu, whilst reduced because it was a Sunday, was still quite wide-ranging. We both had haddock and chips, which were delicious; we shared a chocolate Marquis dessert (a little over-priced). We didn’t have alcohol so can’t comment on the beers. All-in-all a very nice lunch a d we shall be back. Very convenient for the Monarch’s Way

Father's Day lunch celebration..... this was our third visit within past couple of months. We really like the menu, the small plates are excellent and great for sharing. We noted that the portion sizes had increased, apparently because feedback said they were too small! If anything now I would say that they are too generous, as none of us were able to finish our roasts, although we did share two small plates between 3 of us as a starter!! The veggies were excellent and the baked cheesecake the absolute best ever. Quality and responsibly sourced food. Great pub venue, indoors or outdoors only 20 mis from Cheltenham. Friendly, welcoming and attentive owner/manager. See you soon ...

Main meal was tasty (sunday lunch) although not very hot. Note we were a 1.45 pm booking and not overly busy. I had the honey sponge which I sent back as inedible. My mother had ordered whisky and lemonade and without asking they served Jack Daniels making it very expensive. I didn't like the baked cheesecake ordered by my mother as it was serve din a pastry case.

We booked a table in the bar , but we’re not seated there. I feel because we had two children we were seated in the back of the pub out of the way which has zero atmosphere. My children are 9 and 6 and very well behaved , I don’t feel like we needed to be hidden away! A little disappointing

The place looks great 10/10 for the covid safety steps taken, best wine list we have seen in a pub for a while and the two bar staff were great, it was just a shame about the food the meat in the scotch eggs was nearly raw, no real flavour in the bbq brisket just greasy, nobody came and asked if food was ok, so couldn't complain as when we asked for desserts we were told chef had gone, chips were really good though. Sorry to say wont be returning.
