Bay Tree Bar & Grill
Restaurant decor was lovely, lots of attention to detail. There was no ambience in restaurant, saturday night and only 4 couples in, some music would have helped. Food was ok, a little overpriced for what it was - don't think I'd return based on food alone. Two of the tables had finished their meal and asked for coffees - they were told that this couldn't be done as bar was so busy - they were advised to head to bar themselves as would be quicker. No matter how busy bar is I would have expected the restaurant to be prioritised - having said that when we came to finish our meal we were offered coffees.
Overall it feels a bit of 'style over substance' - concentrate on creating ambiance and working on menu as you have a lovely venue.
Excellent food and friendly staff. Will definitely be going back.
Really good food and quick service. A bit quiet perhaps.
Wonderful wonderful loved it, thoroughly recommend. Friends from London who go out a lot thought it was fabulous
Disappointed overall not what I was expecting. The staff were very pleasant, however there was an event at the hotel and it was obvious that was the priority. The quality of the produce was excellent which made up for the general service .
Small portion sizes. Very expensive. Waiters where over friendly at times.
The front of house/ manager was extremely rude on our arrival of 10 minutes past our booking of 3pm.
He was not going to allow us to have our table.
After a confrontational exchange he then asks the chef if ok and chef says absolutely fine!
Ruined my mums day on mother’s day.
Never experienced anything like it!
We stayed at the Burlington Hotel for our 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary. The Hotel has been revamped to a high spec our room was fantastic we booked a table at The Bay Tree and was well pleased with attentive staff manager was top drawer the food was great we had steak cooked how we liked it will we be going back YES we will.
Food was mediocre and a little expensive for what it is... They had a function upstairs and food was very slow and attention not paid to restaurant customers.
The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, clean and the ambience was nice.
A superb meal in great surroundings
Food was fantastic
Starter of chicken terrine was light and very tasty - lovely mushroom garnish , rib eye - cooked perfectly and melt in the mouth salmon fishcake on spinach delicious
As if that wasn’t enough - the sweets were amazing
Chocolate indulgence was just that and the lemon posset had a subtle coulis and an amazing sharp lemon taste / perfect !
Staff were spot on
The waiter and waitress were both excellent , polite and attentive
Bar staff were excellent too - A G&T to start and the knowledge and recommendations were perfect
Well worth another visit soon
We live near the Bay Tree, but only started coming here after it had been remodelled. We were delighted by what we found. It is contemporary and stylish, the decor is good and we enjoyed the overall mood. There was good attentive professional service and the menus were excellent - not too long but good choices. We have just 'discovered' to excellent Sunday lunch menu that offers a balanced choice of starters and more traditional roast fayre. For starters we had a delicious roast beetroot and polenta and my partner chose a very good, subtle terrine. We were very pleased with a medium priced wine that worked perfectly with the excellent beef, Yorkshire, roast potatoes and all the trimmings. Too full for pud but managed a delicious coffee. Strangely, the restaurant was far from busy that day and although it is nice to have some animation, we benefitted from actually being able to enjoy the excellent jazz. Along with the bill that did not frighten the horses, we very much enjoyed our lunch and the prospect of a gentle stroll home.
The food was delicious although they didn’t have most of the vegetarian options available as they were in between summer and autumn menus. My wife had to have something from the lunch menu for dinner.
The food was poor, roast beef was tough not enough of anything no atmosphere . The service was good and bar was excellent but that was all . We will not be back
I have eaten here quite a few times but this time was disappointed at the number of items not on the menu. The excuse was it was bank holiday the weekend before. Not a good excuse in my book. Also the food was not as nicely cooked. My dinner was sitting in water from the spinach. The chocolate dessert was chewy and not nice.
Therefore not value for money this time.
Following the upgrade to the restaurant is now a beautiful setting.
Food and service was very good.
A quality offering
Terrible experience! Front of house did not fully comprehend how upset their customers were. We had to wait 30 minutes for starters, which we finally had to ask for, only to be cold on arrival! I ordered the cod as my main dish, requesting the mussels be removed. After another 20 minute wait he dish arrived with the mussels, and the fillet of cod was undercooked and had not been boned properly, there were still many bones in it, which I duly sent back. I made the decision not to order again as the meals were taking so long, I ended up having a sandwich on my return home! My husband had the roast beef which on arrival consisted of just slabs of sliced beef, raw in the middle, and he was unable to eat the vegetables. We were not the only diners to complain about the meal and service, other diners returned their meals also. We made a complaint at reception. Suffice to say, my husband's birthday meal was ruined. If there was a problem regarding shortage of staff, or in the kitchen, nothing was communicated to the customers, we left frustrated, angry and hungry!!!
Excellent food as always and service was the same high standard we have recieved every time we have dined here.
First time we had been for Sunday lunch and we were far from disappointed the portions were extremely generous the Bread sbd Butter Pudding was anazing.
The menu was varied and food served promptly. We all enjoyed our meals and the wine was very nice.
Seating arrangement was good for groups as circular table in alcove.
The service was excellent and very attentive. Our only criticism was the price of side dishes, which were small and should be included in price of main.
This was our first visit and won’t be our last. The service was very good and there were plenty of staff to assist ( unlike other places). The food was tasty and beautifully presented. Good choice of food and wine. A lovely place to go to and the ambience is good. Hopefully will be around for a while.
Fantastic food and service. Can’t wait to return
No wine list available, even when requested
Wine ordered was not available, even when it had been on the verbal list from the waitress
We were told the wine was unavailable about 10 mins after we had ordered this, and then had to re-order
Two of the starters we ordered from the menu were not available
Desserts arrived 25 mins after ordering them
Food was excellent highly recommend this restaurant
