The current owners took over the venue in January 2016 holding a clear vision for its future. The aim was to bring Becketts back with a strong concept, attracting a cool crowd as well as retaining appeal to its loyal client base and sustaining its authenticity.
This Grade II listed building has been lovingly repaired, refurbished and meticulously brought back to life. Featuring 4 floors of hand made wood designs, cool marble, glass, steel and ambient lighting, the finished result is something very special and distinctively unique.
The Becketts team are so excited to show you our venue and will be happy to give you a tour, talk you through our delicious menu and serve you a drink in our elegantly designed bar.
We cater to groups of all sizes whether its a cosy meal for 2 or a wedding reception with 100 guests.
We had a wonderful anniversary meal. A lovely touch was the complimentary dessert with happy anniversary in chocolate. Looking forward to the new menu! Thanks to all.
Amazing! As always 10 out of 10.
I’d visited for the restaurant for bottomless brunch on a previous occasion so decided to try dinner here with a friend.
We were both starving and when the main course arrived it looked a little small but was actually the perfect sized portion and left room for dessert!
The desserts looked delicious and I probably could have ordered 4 or 5 of them. Will definitely be returning again with husband in tow!
Quality food and friendly polite service. Really enjoyed our evening. Recommended.
First time at this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. Not a huge menu but we wanted to eat all the mains and so we will aim to do this over the coming months! Again, limited wine list but we went with the Primitivo, good value for money
Lovely evening at Becketts. Food was absolutely delicious and will definitely be returning soon x
Food was excellent. However on arrival we were not made to feel welcome, we attempted to buy drinks at the bar for 15 minutes with various staff looking busy. Once we were acknowledged, the service was fine.
Another fabulous meal a wonderful
Evening thank you
Food was of amazing food flavour and quality. Staff where helpful, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the Yorkshire puddings, from looking their social media before hand they display massively, huge Yorkshire puddings this wasn’t the case. They did give us an extra one each but they weren’t what we expected at all and for us, a good Yorkshire pudding makes or breaks the roast dinner.
Great food, great vibrant place something for everyone in my book...a real mix of music in the background
Service excellent as were main courses, steak, tuna & vegetarian. Would have given 5 stars but desserts let side down. Supposed to be peach & passion fruit Eton mess. But peach was underripe & rock hard. No flavour. Middle was frozen. Music was too noisy when we arrived but staff happily turned down when we asked.
Great food in a lovely atmosphere with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Thanks
Food was standard. Very noisy. Service was pleasant and the venue was lovely
Never been to Becketts before but will definitely be going back. The service is excellent, not rushed and the dinnig area is well set with plenty of room with attentive staff. The food was excellent and well presented, I can recommend the fillet steaks they were to die for.
The new enlarged Beckett's has obviously got to work hard for its living. Attentive and friendly service certainly gives a good first impression and the fit between the old and newly acquired parts is seamless. Small but interesting cocktail menu and nice balanced food and wine list BUT after the smallest starter ever encountered (3 minute arancini no bigger than walnuts, soused with green sauce), I was in critical mood. Chicken kebabs and a starter portion of moules satisfied my guests; my full bucket of moules was a trifle heavy but again my guests were happy with steak and an interesting salad apiece. Yes, I'd recommend and not just for old times' sake ( I have been a Becketts fan for years), but I would warn them off the arancini !
Good Food, nice atmosphere good choice in Portsmouth
Had a lovely meal on Thursday evening with my Mother. We had a seafood sharing platter which was very well presented and good value. We then had the neck of lamb and the pork belly...both of which were great. There was a noisy wedding reception going on in one side of the restaurant but that didn’t detract from a very enjoyable meal. Our waitress Yasmin was very polite, efficient and clearly an asset to the team. Could not fault anything, as a fellow restauranteur it’s rare for me to have no constructive comments but everything was faultless - will be back very soon. Thank you to Yasmin, the chef and the rest of the teams both front of house and kitchen for a lovely meal. Best wishes Xian
Wonderful food and service. It was a delightful evening.
Very intimate restaurant and decor to my taste ,the service staff were good however the special deal on the Tuesday mussels was not told to us ,we had to ask for it ,also the hand towels to use after was also not given. Very friendly staff though.
The staff were very polite and helpful. Kept the drinks topped up and the food was delicious. Everything was clean and to a high standard.
Food was very good but booked a table for my partners birthday after recommendations from friends and was really disappointed. We were the last table booked in (at 5pm on a Sunday) and felt very rushed by staff. We had two courses, sat down at 5pm and were out the door by 5:50pm. I’d say poor value for money because of this. Definitely won’t be returning.
We had a meal there for my daughters graduation celebration. We were a party of six and were served fairly promptly with drinks. The waiter was friendly and helpful and the starters plus mains were all great. We did have a dessert but I would recommend Becketts for dinner.
Booked for sons graduation. WADA lovlemu meal as always. Will back again hopefully.
Not to busy on the day we went. Lovely atmosphere. Food fresh and hot and arrived quickly. Would recommend this restaurant to a friend.
Worth the money
Drinks could be topped up more frequently
Amazing restaurant/bar with beautiful decor. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food was out of this world. Will be back soon.
We chose moules frites and it was excellent quality and value
Fantastic service great place food great Roast just needed a bit more flavour and a bit of tweaking but otherwise great
The food was of a high quality and a the choice was varied. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall it was a great evening. The only down side was that they ran out of the wine we were drinking and our second choice too! we think this was due to the very hot weather so more than usual were drinking white wine... we normally would have red on cooler days.
Great food, Great Service, Great atmosphere... Great, Great, Great!!!!
Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience, with perhaps one black mark: it's very noisy. Food and service were all up to standard.
Great Sunday lunch, very nice staff. Have been here a few times, and it’s always good
I would recommend but the service is extremely slow
Great service and lovely food. I had mussels and they were the best I’ve had! Nice setting if not a little hot on a summer day.
Been here a few times with larger group of friends and family, came as a couple and had a different vibe , nice monkfish starter and hubby had scallops , he had lobster which looked good but not a lot edible mostly shell , I had lamb rump which was good but the roasts with it were awful ! Small, no fluffiness or taste you’d expect from a good roast ! Wine good but overpriced x we won’t rush back , lost its ambience and appeal to us I’m afraid
Great food, made the start to my birthday very enjoyable
We booked dinner for four before going to the theatre, we were welcomed with a smile. The cocktails specifically the Cosmos were top draw.
The menu provided lots of of choice including ‘finally’ Beckett's having a house burger, which was ordered and definitely did not disappoint..
The lobster (x2) was fresh and tasty, the lamb was also ordered and did not disappoint.
If you want good Food & good Cocktails then Becketts is the place to go. Thank you
Great experience, the food really is good. Prices are a bit high, the cooling system is freezing when you have the bad luck to be under it. Still this was a great experience, the meals were very good. I would suggest either reduce prices or put more in the plates.
This place was a real find. Superb food, and definitely worth repeated visits.
It has great atmosphere and great food but the staff need more training as they came to our table a few times asking if we finished our food but my partner was still eating and they don’t offer to pour wine on the glass for you, just bring it and live it on the table but I am happy with food, will go again
