This is a neighborhood favorite for us. We love eating here. The food is always excellent, nice wine selection and nice ambience. The pasta is not to be missed. Definitely a great night out for a special occasion or just a Tuesday. We have never been disappointed.
We went to Bellissimo for a birthday event and everybody from the party was talking about how great the service and the food were. The staff was friendly, handled our party's needs without any issues, and even gave the birthday guest a special surprise that will be remembered. My only complaint is that I wish there was more on my plate because finishing my meal felt like finishing a really good tv show... You only want more.
We will be coming back in the future because now we must try the other items on the menu!
Food was excellent for the price but wait staff were rude and inattentive.
We had a table in a corner next to the window, set apart from the rest of the restaurant. It was perfect to catch up with friends and enjoy a leisurely meal. The service and good were excellent.
We are thrilled that you had such a good time with us! Hope to see you soon.
Wonderful food, great service, excellent menu selection and perfect background music. It's like being transported to Italy without having to pack a suitcase.
Love your review! Thank you!
Our meal was decent but nothing spectacular. We were a group of 6 on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not even half full. Chicken Marsala was the best of the meals I tried. My husband’s lobster bisque had shrimp in it instead of lobster. One of our friends didn’t get the right dinner but settled for what they brought to not have to wait. Cheesecake may have been the tiniest slice of cheesecake I’ve seen.
For the food and service, I would go back to Dolce Vita over Bellisimo in the future.
Seafood dish was outstanding
Food for 2/3 dinners was good, not great. Fish was suberb; good apps & ambiance. Price was high, but not off-the-charts.
The mashed potatoes had clearly been plated well before my fish was done as they were cold. Literally, the bites of potatoes and broccoli touching the plate were cold. My husband’s veal was tough. For approximately $35/entree We could have eaten so much better elsewhere. Service was friendly and attentive but we will definitely not be back.
We celebrated 25 years together. We couldn’t have chosen a greater place. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Valentines Day dinner
The food was very good. My husband and I both had the lamb shank over pappardelle. Two glasses of house wine that were average. The wine glasses were not the cleanest. That is a peave of mine. The service was adequate. Not friendly at all. We did not feel welcomed in the least. I expect superior service that is personable in such a quaint restaurant.
We throughly enjoyed our meal and will be returning. Although cetainly not inexpensive, the prices were reasonable, especially for the quality of the food.
Great restaurant in Old Town FFX. Friendly staff, good food selection.
Been here a couple times now and it always impresses, great food, great staff!
Wonderful meal served piping hot. Attentive service. Always enjoy the food and ambience.
It was a perfect setting for my husband and I to have a quiet dinner, and enjoy delicious food.
Little overpriced special I wasn’t wild about the way they did the duck
Parking is a nightmare
Thank you for your comment. There are 4 public parking places just a few steps from the restaurant! Please give us a call before you come again and we can tell you where the lots are. So sorry!
Excellent food. The staff is awesome. Will definitely go back.
Our waiter was most charming. Food was excellent
I had heard such good things about Bellissimo's from a friend and sadly our experience just did not meld with that. We were there during Restaurant Week, but on the night that we were there there were only 3 other occupied tables the entire time we were in the restaurant. It took around 25 minutes for our dinner order to be placed; and 15 minutes after that was when our appetizers arrived. I'm not sure how long it took for dinner to be brought out... all I know is that my husband was continually shooting hungry looks my way, so perhaps a while! Food was fine to me (the stacked tomato and fresh mozzarella appetizer was the highlight)... but we will not be back I'm afraid. All in all, I'd say to skip it.
Annual Restaurant Week dinner was outstanding in every way.
Great Italian restaurant. My wife and I ate here on Wednesday and then came back to eat again on Saturday. All was delicious.
Good location, tight entrance, parking on the street is not always readily available, good service, nice starters and main courses but desserts were lacking. Would consider going again.
Great food! Great staff! Highly recommend! We had a great evening here.
Food was excellent! Definitely want to return when it is NOT Restaurant Week to pick from full menu.
The food was really good
Excellent service and food. I had to ask them to turn down the music which they willingly did. It’s a tight squeeze with tables on top of each other. I would recommend it, just not for an intimate dinner because of the closeness of the tables where everyone is listening to each other.
Very nice dinner experience. Server as well as the food was excellent. We have always had a great dinner experience at Bellissimo.
Excellent Italian food. I would consider it pricey if not for restaurant week specials.
Excellent food and great service. A wonderful meal as always.
Truly a neighborhood gem. Prompt service and great food. Looking forward to a return.
Delicious food and wine! It’s a casual little restaurant with exceptional service and atmosphere. We liked that we could come in for a relaxed dinner on New Years Eve without having to commit to an expensive fixed multiple-course menu, but it was still nice enough that we could get dressed up and feel like we were treating ourselves. They easily accommodated a 7-person party. I got a seafood pasta that was reasonably priced and delicious. We’ll definitely be back!
I was excited to eat here after reading positive reviews. Sadly, I was disappointed. We had Saturday night reservations for six and our table was ready when we arrived. The dining room is small, but intimate and a nice ambience. The waiter told us the specials and we ordered some glasses of wine and apps along with entrees. The apps and wine were fine. Shortly before the apps arrived, a different waiter brought two entrees over for us; they were for a different table. He actually put them down in front of us even though we told him there weren't ours. Then when he figured it out he just took them straight over to the other table. When our entrees did arrive, they brought four out of the six and then my wife and I had to wait thirty minutes (yikes!) before the last two arrived. Everyone else was done eating and we were just getting served. Then when my mother in law ordered another glass of wine the waiter did not know that they had run out of that variety. We skipped desert and went out for ice cream. The food itself was decent, nothing to write home about but tasty enough. It felt like several of the other diners were regulars but the place could certainly do better.
We were the first table to be seated in the entire restaurant. About 15 minutes after we sat, the staff seated a table of 6 adjacent to us. The entire restaurant was empty and they seated two tables next to each other, makes absolutely no sense.
We went with the standard calamari for an appetizer and we were extremely disappointed. It tasted freezer burnt and half of the pieces were extremely chewy because of it. Way over seasoned with salt as well. The pasta dish was okay but not worth $28.
There are many options that serve delicious Italian cuisine for way less than what Bellissimo charges.
Overall, very disappointing, overpriced, and dated.
Great food. Pleasant staff. I especially enjoyed the lamb shank
Thank you for the wonderful feedback! Glad you enjoyed the lamb shank. :)
Four adults and one four and a half year old granddaughter enjoyed extraordinary food and service Christmas at 1:00pm. The staff was accommodating with reconfiguring two tables placing the “youngun” at the head of the table.
The menu was the CHRISTMAS MENU and absolutely enticing ....was hard to decide. In my eating experiences with the others, I have NEVER see all of the entree plates at the end of a meal empty! The youngun did take a doggie bag home to be enjoyed later.
Portions were large and so reasonably priced.
The ambience quite pleasant and the wall murals, paintings, and flowers gorgeous. The noise level was a tad higher than pleasant but the restaurant was fully occupied so well understood.
Hurrah! We are thrilled that you had a wonderful time with us! You have made us smile and we hope to see you again very soon. Happy New Year!
A wonderful experience all around. I would highly recommend
Thank you for your great review! We hope to see you soon in the new year!
Restaurant was good but not as good as it used to be. Fell from exceptional to good.
Thank you for your thoughts - we appreciate it. If you'd like to speak with us in greater detail - (we are the same owners for 15 years!) we would love that so that we can get some specifics. Call me on my cell 202 262 3726. Mary Thanks!
