Indian Fine Dining Restaurant with British Flair in the Heart of Mayfair.

Benares Restaurant and Bar since its opening in 2003 has been considered one of the finest Indian Restaurants in the city.

Guests enter an elegant lounge with hand-crafted India inspired furniture and is complemented by a beautiful pond decorated with fresh flowers, creating a luxurious aesthetic.

Benares has 4 private dining rooms, three of which are around the lounge: the Berkeley Room which seats up to 16 guests, the Sommeliers Table which seats up to 10 guests and a Chefs Table overlooking the kitchen which seats up to 8 guests. The lounge area leads into the main dining room which can accommodate up to 80 guests. Our largest private dining area, the Dover room seating up to 36 guests is on the other side of the main dining room.

Benares can be hired for exclusive events accommodating 100 guests for a sit-down dinner and 250 guests for a standing reception.

There was no option for a 6th star! The Samundari Thali should be a 3 Michelin star dish. Thanks as always for a delicious meal and service. See you soon !

I took my mum and family here for her 75th birthday and I have to say the service and food were outstanding! How this place doesn’t have a higher rating is beyond me it was faultless. They made my mum feel special and was super helpful with accommodating us and any needs we had. I would definitely recommend to come here.

The food and drinks were outstanding at Benares. But more than the food it was the staff that made the experience extraordinary. They went above and beyond to ensure the whole experience was great

Although the food is good, this should never be a 1 Michellin star restaurant. The noise level inside, makes you feel that you are at one of those noisy food markets. The service is low quality and the staff seem to be poorly trained. They did not clean the table between dishes, they don't explain the dishes you are about to eat. It would be ok, in a cheap restaurant, but not at a 1 Michelluin star restaurant. AVOID!

Been to Benares quite a few times and for a few years. Whenever I have a special occasion I tend to choose it - Birthdays etc. As always the food is really superb, the service great. You cannot fault it. What I have noticed though is the cost is really creeping up, there used to be little dishes to eat between courses, poppadoms at the start as part of the cost. This is no more. Main courses were usually £40+ , a small Cobra beer is now £9. Its still special, its still lovely food but with the costs going up I think it will now need to be VERY special occasions that I dine.
