Please note our policies before booking:

- Our focus is on a communal dining experience so please be aware you may be sharing the table with other guests, socially distanced. We are open until 11pm, last savoury food orders are at 9:30pm.

- The outside terrace and Saturday day time bookings will be offering a separate food menu of light bites, nibbles and what we call "drinking food". The full kitchen menu is available from 6pm Wednesday to Saturday indoors only.

- Standard seats are along the 'Bench'. High-top are tables for two and three on the outside of the room.

- Please note: Bookings between 4pm and 6pm Wednesday to Friday are for 'Aperitivo Hour'. These are 1 hour slots only for drinks, with a small menu of cold snacks available.

Bench serves a selection of absolutely delicious small plates. It's a small place, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The menu changes regularly, but there seem to be a few stalwarts, such as the sliced pork collar, often in XO sauce. All the ingredients are are inventively combined and spiced to give you maximum flavour. The main menu is only available on the inside tables, but drinks and nibbles are available on the pavement café seating outside the front door.

Stunning from start to finish….although I didn’t eat some of the fish dishes my friends were absolutely loving them. The wine was light and tasty and easy dish was presented perfectly. You couldn’t find nicer staff, nothing was too much trouble : ) I’ll be back!!

Food and service excellent but the main bench table is very wide and meant we were too far away to talk to other members of the group. Better for couples. Lighting and print size made the menu very hard to read.

Another fun evening at bench! Food was as wonderful as always (we particularly liked the pasta and the cuttlefish stew) and Biba recommended a great bottle of light red that went with it perfectly. Great to have such a fantastic place on our doorstep!

Our first time at Bench but not the last. A lovely welcome when we arrived and shown to our table.The young lady explained the menu and took our drinks order.We selected 5 dishes as recommended which arrived as and when they were ready.Everything we ordered was amazing from the homemade sourdough to the Ox heart.We will definitely be back again .I had a glass orange wine which was beautiful (please tell me what is was called )probably the best wine I’ve had in a restaurant for ages Cannot wait to return

First visit to much talked about Bench and wow it was worth the hype. The moment you walked in and we were greeted with a friendly smile and made to feel welcome. Explained the extensive menu in detail and allowed us to order in our own time. The food was inventive, original but genuine, you could tell it was made with care and attention, very much a north Italy feel to the food but also nice little twists added to it. Overall a fantastic experience, casual lunchtime dining at its best…we will most definitely be back!

Inventive and delicious menu of small/sharing plates, accompanied by some excellent cocktails and wines by the glass (so good we didn't bother to try the bottles!). Very welcoming and helpful service, important given it was our first visit. Prices reflect quality of both food and wines. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic service from Biba, as always, who is so nice, friendly and informative. The food is delicious and different. We pretty much ordered most of the dishes on the menu and the slight downside is that the 2 hours allocated for the table means that we felt rushed eating our way through and did not appreciate and savour the food as much as we would have liked to.

This is a very lovely place. A cracking neighbourhood restaurant with lovely staff and very good service. The food is very good and some dishes I would rate as outstanding. Highly recommended. I can’t wait to go back and try them again.

Reliably top quality. This was a return visit for us- have previously been in bigger groups and enjoyed the whole menu so this time we had some decisions to make. Everything was delicious, very high quality, obviously lovingly prepared and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. This comes through in the food. We feel the price is very reasonable for the consistently excellent service and food. Thanks again Bench, we'll be back.

It was our first visit to Bench after a recommendation. It did not disappoint! This place has a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are so helpful and attentive. They explained that it is a sharing plates restaurant and helped us to order the correct amount for the two of us. Wow, the food is fantastic, amazing combinations and such wonderful flavours. Amazing experience at bench, as ever! The frosé was a delicious summer start. We shared a few plates for lunch including a summer gazpacho, pasta, oysters and tomatoes. All delicious. I also had some wine and a martini which were entirely excellent too.
