The book barn was a beautiful spot for afternoon tea with a glass of wine and a good book in front of the fire
Fine for casual dining, but don't expect fancy. The music was bad elevator music played too loudly which was really distracting but the food was OK. No cocktails. I was expecting it to be lovely (it had come so highly recommended), so was a bit disappointed in the ambience. So much so, that I asked the wait staff if we had been seated in the wrong area (answer no). They could do so much better with a spotify playlist and some table cloths .....Would we go there again? Yes, but a little lower on the priority list now that I have tried it.
Lovely location and rustic ambience with a cosy fire on a cold day. Service polite and prompt. The meal was delicious. It is nice to browse the bookshelves and art on the walls after your meal.
It was so wonderful to get back to Bendooley Estate for a leisurely lunch, arguable the best venue for ambience in the Southern Highland, and the food as well as the service is always top notch!
Wait staff: courteous and professional
Ambience: warm cosy and typically Southern Highlands
On the whole, as usual excellent, and wonderful after a long period of COVID lockdown, thank you!
Wonderful to return to Bendooley! Loved the new menu.
What a memorable dining experience we had at Bendooley Estate. We couldn’t fault a single thing.
Thank you 🙏
Great service, friendly staff and lovely food. Highly recommend.
Always a great place for a lunch especially during Covid when only us locals can go to this location
Amazing food keeps us going back every time and the overall look of the place. Eating beautiful food amongst books is a dream!
I would highly recommend, food and wine was fantastic
Amazing setting, excellent service, great with allergies, loved it!
Fabulous food and atmosphere. Something for everyone
Fantastic customer service. Beautiful food and wine. Highly recommend.
Pizzas getting thinner. Less ingredients.
Not value for buck
The cafe was extremely cold and we even asked for blankets as we were positioned far from the fire and in a breezeway; the back doors were left open!!! Overall the service was bad with part of the order being forgotten. The coffee was lukewarm and served before the dessert.
We were very happy we booked a one hour wine tasting followed by lunch. It proved to be the best way to sample some of the delicious Bendooley Estate wines and then try a couple with simple but beautifully prepared dishes over lunch. Jen was very friendly, informative and relaxed in guiding us through the wine tasting and in making helpful suggestions for wines at lunch. The setting in the Book Barn was delightful and the outlook over the lawns and gardens outside were only surpassed by the attentive, friendly and helpful service. We will definitely be back!!
A great place for lunch. Yummy food, delightful wine. Great ambience. Lovely country vistas.
this is our 3 Ltd time since Jan 21 and each time has been amazing. Yummy food and most important the service was great and very efficient. Keep it up. Look forward to seeing the new cellar door
The menu was limited but the food that we ordered was delicious, beautifully presented and generous for the pricing. I requested a table closer to the fire and they obliged and the team were lovely from the time we got there to the time we left. Will be back again and it was a wonderful quaint experience.
Catching up with my boys .
The food was delicious and the wait staff on the night were fantastic and very bubbly which is always a bonus.
Food was yummy and quick. We were well looked after by the staff.
Good all round, except the fire was not as expected and a little cold.
Requested a table close to the fire, but did not get one and no apology or explanation
Staff were extremely accomodating (rare in the southern highlands). The smoked eggplant was exceptional. The menu accomodated children and adults well.
Beautiful book barn with a cosy fireplace. Perfect for a long winter lunch. Staff are brilliant.
Fabulous venue - second visit and again not disappointed- food was amazing
Great place for lunch. Lovely food and service and books everywhere
Amazing service on Saturday at lunch time. And the best pizza in the Highlands!
Had a great Lunch with the girls and Mark was fantastic!
Amazing food enjoyed the entire experience especially the rice pudding desert
we love coming here. Nice atmosphere if you manage to get a table in the barn with the books or next to the fireplace next door.
Food is aways great, especially in these times it's just nice to support local restaurants.
And as a bonus - I think we never had a lunch without buying a book or two o)).
Lovely lunch with the girls, service was fast, friendly; food was delicious, open fire awesome.
Blue cheese pizza was a standout!
Great place for a long lunch, will definitely return.
Food was AMAZING.. service was great we love coming here..
Always magnificent 😊
Cosy ambience around the open fireplace was very relaxing.
The service was great and the food absolutely delicious. A great place for adults to enjoy a really nice meal and bring the kids along - the staff are very kid friendly and the bookstore is a great place for the kids to explore, as well as plenty of room outside to run around and enjoy.
Superb wine tasting experience and the food excellent
Great service and food. Beautiful venue surrounded by books. Wines, especially the local rose are excellent
Staff most helpful and fun. All food intolerances dealt with in a most helpful way. A lovely afternoon. Highly recommended
Great service and lovely food. Kids menu great value.
We were located near the bar and was thankful to be in that room as it was a nicer atmosphere with background music and right near the window to view. When we walked into the library section it was awkwardly quiet and we were happy we didn’t get placed in there.
