The book barn was a beautiful spot for afternoon tea with a glass of wine and a good book in front of the fire

Fine for casual dining, but don't expect fancy. The music was bad elevator music played too loudly which was really distracting but the food was OK. No cocktails. I was expecting it to be lovely (it had come so highly recommended), so was a bit disappointed in the ambience. So much so, that I asked the wait staff if we had been seated in the wrong area (answer no). They could do so much better with a spotify playlist and some table cloths .....Would we go there again? Yes, but a little lower on the priority list now that I have tried it.

Lovely location and rustic ambience with a cosy fire on a cold day. Service polite and prompt. The meal was delicious. It is nice to browse the bookshelves and art on the walls after your meal.

It was so wonderful to get back to Bendooley Estate for a leisurely lunch, arguable the best venue for ambience in the Southern Highland, and the food as well as the service is always top notch!

Food: delicious
Wait staff: courteous and professional
Ambience: warm cosy and typically Southern Highlands

The cafe was extremely cold and we even asked for blankets as we were positioned far from the fire and in a breezeway; the back doors were left open!!! Overall the service was bad with part of the order being forgotten. The coffee was lukewarm and served before the dessert.

We were very happy we booked a one hour wine tasting followed by lunch. It proved to be the best way to sample some of the delicious Bendooley Estate wines and then try a couple with simple but beautifully prepared dishes over lunch. Jen was very friendly, informative and relaxed in guiding us through the wine tasting and in making helpful suggestions for wines at lunch. The setting in the Book Barn was delightful and the outlook over the lawns and gardens outside were only surpassed by the attentive, friendly and helpful service. We will definitely be back!!

The menu was limited but the food that we ordered was delicious, beautifully presented and generous for the pricing. I requested a table closer to the fire and they obliged and the team were lovely from the time we got there to the time we left. Will be back again and it was a wonderful quaint experience.

Requested a table close to the fire, but did not get one and no apology or explanation

we love coming here. Nice atmosphere if you manage to get a table in the barn with the books or next to the fireplace next door.

Food is aways great, especially in these times it's just nice to support local restaurants.

And as a bonus - I think we never had a lunch without buying a book or two o)).

We were located near the bar and was thankful to be in that room as it was a nicer atmosphere with background music and right near the window to view. When we walked into the library section it was awkwardly quiet and we were happy we didn’t get placed in there.
