Bibendum Oyster Bar
If the sun is shining there are seats outside in the patio area to enjoy a cocktail from a great list of classics, and even if it’s not there are blankets…
Food delicious, staff very helpful, they were slightly late to give us our table and they offered us a glass of champagne to make it up.
We had to wait to the menu options, then had to ask twice for every service and finally waited 20 minutes to receive the bill.
Beautiful setting with delightful efficient staff who were completely charming. The mussels were excellent as a starter. Hot and tasty. Very generous portion in attractive metal iron pot. The crab orecchiette was not good. Over cooked gluey pasta with tasteless sauce. Very expensive for what we ate but the atmosphere and location just about justified the steep price tag, together with the solicitousness of the waitress.
The place is beautiful but it is very expensive / food
Lovely architecture. Went there for lunch on Saturday to the Oyster bar. It was pouring with rain, windy and chilly. We had to ask staff to close doors and put on heating. Other people still had on their coats. Food was Ok. Starters arrived seperately and the ceviche scallop was tiny. Mains were skate ,small portion but very nice. Fish and chips very good. Pasta with crab again tiny portion. Desserts were lovely. Pot au chocolate and bread and butter pudding .We were glad that we had gone and if there is a next time would go to the restaurant. The oyster bar is better for snack foods. eg the seafood platter. Because it is tiled the noise echoes but adds to the energy. Go if you have deep pockets or small appetite. Staff were very very nice.
The Oyster bar was always a favourite but now it is even more enjoyable and special.
Excellent skate wings and oysters
We went to Bibendum as a treat to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Everything about our dining experience was wonderful
Very friendly staff, oysters were amazing, needs a bit of refurbishment.
Very good. Superb ceasar salad. Service rather slow, but food great and lovely ambience.
Service was very low for the standards which I had expected to ve.I didn’t expect to get a simple plate of 3 pieces of cheeses chutney and open packet biscuit. When my final bill was 300£.
Wonderful food with that special twist that made even ‘ordinary’ fish & chips seem as if it had been prepared with a lot of TLC.
Wine very pricy even for SW3 but hey it was worth it.
Very tight on Covid-19 compliance so felt as if I was in a safe environment.
Service was great, manager was hospitable. Food was beautiful and oysters were fresh!
Fabulous restaurant - would highly recommend - quite an experience....
The food was amazing and service was not to be faulted. The wine was exceptional, I can only say one negative thing. I ordered and old fashioned at the bar following dinner and it was very disappointing.
Gorgeous space and location, great staff. Food was nice. We ordered three cold starters (caesar, tartar and prawn cocktail) and they were served very cold so probably made in advance. Nevertheless the flavours were great. It's a bit pricy for a casual style place but a nice treat.
Always very good food and nice location. Crab quiche exceptionally good.
Great time back soon
A restaurant like this does make a person feel special because it is indeed a fine dining experience.
I liked their wine selection, I enjoyed the oysters, although I didn't enjoy much eating a chilled lobster. That spoiled the experience for me.
Our bill was nearly £200 for two people, which we paid £22 for optional service charge.
Now, something disastrous needs to happen for me to request for the service charge to be removed.
But I must mention that during our dinner, one of the staff broke a glass, the main waiter didn't have fully knowledge of the menu, then another waitress took over, then he came back to us. The waitress offered to bring me the menu from the restaurant upstairs, and she didn't etc.
Now all of this is not too bad, breaking glass can happen to anyone (I can break a glass at my home). But when you pay that much, you expect nothing less, but an exceptional service.
We personally came for the oysters, so if that's what you are craving, yes I would recommend this place.
A heavenly birthday meal for my best friend. We loved our afternoon at Bibendum, truly a special experience. Don’t miss the oysters (the Dooncastles were a highlight) and the Fish of the Day, which was lemon sole on our visit. I can’t wait to come back soon, once we find another excuse to do so. The outside tables are tempting, but the mosaics inside the Oyster Bar are too special to miss.
We've been here a number of times and it's always great. One of our favs
Very good but very expensive and service is a little slow.
Beautiful setting, attentive but not overbearing service, restaurant was almost empty which is such a shame and a reflection of the times. As such they had a reduced menu.
Sunday lunch at the Oyster bar. Delicious fish soup and great service with reasonable pricing for the quality of the food.
Fantastic eve, great service, I would recommend to anyone
First time visit and we had not expected to be seated outside. Friendly service and they gave us blankets but this was not a good experience. Food was nicely presented but codfish was over cooked and even the chips were dry. Wines by the glass are average quality at best. Prices too high, better to eat inside.
A regular stop for lunch with work colleagues or friends. Trouble and hassle free.
Fantastic, friendly service and Excellent food👍👍
Brilliant as usual........................!!!!!!!!!
Really nice service, the good food was excellent
Fabulous food. Oysters were so fresh .
All very pricy though, considering it was downstairs in the Oyster bar .
I am frightened it will be unaffordable once we have finally left the UK without a deal ! How much will one French oyster be !!!! £8 each !!!!!
Excellent food and service. For the "right price".
It is really good to see this one back to the level that it used to be some years back!
From the welcome greeting onward, the service was friendly, well organised and nicely paced. This team coped with a busy restaurant without missing a beat or any drama. Menu is perfectly simple, with the usual range of high-quality fish at the heart.
Excellent Oysters and Lobster - well worth the visit
Having eaten upstairs in Bibendum and at the Oyster Bar for lunch it was interesting to eat in the Oyster Bar during an evening service. The food was excellent as was the service and we’re pleased to say we’ll be returning.
There was little or no social distancing from staff - not reassuring in current climate - no masks, gloves or screens. Very uncomfortable. Starters (Mussels, fish soup and crab tart) were very good but mains very disappointing - especially Dover sole and lobster Thermidor - even more so given the price!
Bibendum is a great spot for lunch, it’s right next to the florist inside the building so it’s very pretty. Attentive staff and delicious food
Great food, great experience. Very much enjoyed the evening
Used to be lovely, then it went scruffy and overpriced now it’s smarter again with a nice ambience but average food and pricy.
Delicious food and great service. Always great experience
