Had to wait for 15 minutes in the cold although we had a reservation.
Waited 30 minutes after we ordered to get the first dish.
Food quality is less than average and definitively overpriced.
The place is way too noisy to even have a nice discussion.
Overall a bad experience for us. Very disappointed.
But the staff is very nice. Especially the wine old lady. She’s the best, we love her.
A thoroughly enjoyable late lunch, great ambience and pleasant staff, in a lovely setting. A great building.
3 small grilled prawns charging £15 and not even deveined. Waited over 1/2hr for food to arrive.
Waited 20 mins for a Bloody Mary and only 4-5 tables seated. Very disappointed
What a disappointment.
Our group of 4 had all come to Bibendum with high expectations based on memories and perception, but it failed to deliver on all fronts.
The food was OK overall, but we didn't go to Bibendum for "OK" food. The oysters were fine, but then that's not hard to do. 2 of our table ordered the cod dish which arrived cold; my wife sent hers back, while her friend stuck with it. When my wife's dish was returned a few minutes later, it was the same piece of fish that had been increased in temperature only marginally. All the other dishes were underwhelming, the exception being the cheeses, which were really nice.
The service was odd. We had 2 French-sounding waiters; one had an accent that I could not really get through, so what he was saying to me was lost, which is a shame. My problem, I accept. The lady who served the wine was initially fine, we wanted champagne so she directed us to a really nice bottle. After that, we ordered a Chablis and when it arrived we asked her to just pour it as we were all deep in conversation and didn't anticipate any problem. But no: "Someone MUST try the wine", said without humour, so my wife tried it. Maybe I'm missing something, but I really don't want to be told what to do when I am having my meal.
Eventually, the manager was sent over and he graciously removed my wife's dish from the bill and threw in a free dessert for her; thank you.
Prices were OK, I guess. Taking out the champagne and wine, we paid £60 a head for a very average meal.
All in all, a very disappointing night.
Great restaurant in an iconic building.
The sole has been very disappointing, for 48 Pounds I expect to be perfectly cooked (my wife’s sole was pink ) and with firm meat not jelly fish like!!
I just regret to have not sent it back but it has been a long day and we were hungry.
Too bad because oysters were excellent and the place very nice.
Phenomenal food, lovely venue, friendly and attentive service. Oysters were the best we’d ever had!!!
Great evening, charming place and amazing team. Food was great and really worth the price. And Noureddine is such a character!! Definitely going back
Gorgeous place ,fabulous service . Lovely dining experience with my best friend .. Archie my little one eyed poodle .
I went to the oyster bar with my wife last night and to be honest I was very disappointed with the meal
My wife ordered the crab only to be told there wasn’t any left ( it was only 7.30 in the evening ) so she went to order the fillet of beef only to be told again that there was none available..we ordered oysters and bread to start the oysters and butter arrived but no bread which I had to ask for again
Then when our mains and sides came.. the sides I ordered came but my main didn’t so had to ask again and when it eventually arrived the cod was cold so I sent it back with my sides as the fries had gone cold with waiting.. then they brought back my main but no sides so when my fries came back I had already finished my main which to be honest was cold again but o didn’t want to send it back again
Overall the service and the restaurant were good but there was just to many mistakes for one meal so I probably wouldn’t go back which is a shame as we’d been looking forward to this meal as we don’t get out much having two small children
The unique environment of the Michelin building makes a pleasure to dine there. The décor and food has improved since Claude Bosi took both restaurants over. Well worth it
Beautiful surroundings. Lovely food, super staff - friendly and accommodating.
It was a perfect experience in every way!
Made even more special by the service
Waited 15 mins for a menu after we were seated, then the server that brought it gave us a smug, snooty smile, not even bothering to say welcome or utter any words. Requested two glasses of champagne on arrival as we were celebrating… never arrived. Oysters were good, rest of the food was average at best but over priced…worst steak tartare I’ve ever had. I ordered the wine (I’m female), yet wine bottle was shown to, and tasting offered to my boyfriend, didn’t even look in my direction. Absolute sexism! Tables near us had similar issues with poor, inattentive service including forgetting things. Diners were all sat in there coats as it’s freezing inside with the front doors open. Would not go back or recommend….. a huge disappointment
Lovely french brassiere food including gorgeous seafood. Best french fries that I have had in years. Ate inside which is open to the outside, so needed a jacket, but great with fresh air flowing for Covid safety. Also dog friendly, so we will bring our poochie next time.
Not professional service
Lovely service and atmosphere
Lovely evening and overall nice decent food with great relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful service !
The place is very nice the service is good but the food could be better. I had mussels that were boiled with almost no dressing.
Been a few times before but something has changed, staff were very helpful but food standard has fallen dramatically
Everything was perfect!
Oyster bar is great for lunch but less so for dinner. It's a bit dark and cold during evenings
WE enjoyed our Sunday lunch as a couple. The staff is so nice. I ate the steak tartare which I didn’t find great but all the rest was very good. Recommend the Crème Brûlé.
The plateau is nowhere near what it used to be. Delicious tatin. Service is still outstanding.
A lovely evening overall
Delicious food in a lovely setting.
Recently had dinner here with my father for his birthday. I had dined before as well but this time around the service was really poor. The waitress and waiter lacked manners and adequate training. Poured too much wine into the glasses, missed my glass, waitress opened bottle for tasting but then instead of pouring the wine went to serve other people who were having a standing party. The restaurant has sit down tables and the people standing and drinking were not making for a nice atmosphere. Service was just terrible overall. Will not come back
Great location, food and service, plus a fantastic spot to watch the world go by
Poor service, extremely disorganized. Oysters are great but others inconsistent. Steamed shrimp on the edge of being inedible.
Despite being super busy the staff, especially the two delightful French gentlemen, made us feel welcome.
It was clear they were very busy and some staff were a little overwhelmed but due to the professionalism of these guys the ship sailed well.
Shellfish was the best I've had in a while & wine list was superb I will be back...to eat upstairs.
Many thanks Claude & team. A wonderful evening.
Had a good few laughs trying to crack the crab claws but the waiter, Joe was great and very patient. Food was superb and service spot on. Loved it and definitely go again when in this part of town
Excellent dinning experience. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Great food and ambiance. Hostess miserable and unhelpful
Lovely time there as with good company.
Value for money not ok.
Sicilian prawns overpriced, tiny prawns at 8.5GBP each outrageous.
Sea food plater could be elevated a bit more. oysters good. prawns overcooked.
I will not come back for that, only for some oysters.. disappointed somehow.
come back after a very nice evening 3 months ago.. and a visit last year to the Restaurant above which it was amazing.
Chaotic service made the evening ridiculous. When you are in such a lovely place with a great menu, to be let down by ridiculously poor service experience is inexcusable. Don’t waste your time or money here
The food was disappointing . it is unfortunate as it used to be good. However, the service was very good and the staff very professional.
I still recommend the restaurant as I want to believe that it was just a bad day in the kitchen....
A classic venue serving seafood stalwarts. Good to see Claude popping down from the stoves upstairs and the staff manage the kinetic bustle well. Perfect for a pre-prom stomach liner, and to watch the beautiful people of Kensington waft pass. Freshly grilled Cornish sardines, some Pierre Koffman frites on the side and something white & crisp in my glass. Magnifique! Sit. Eat. Celebrate. Bon vivant. N.B.Dog friendly too.
Everything was great except for the inordinately long wait between starter (crab quiche) and main course (grilled sardines).
Service very poor - food was excellent though
Brilliant service, food, and venue! Would definitely go back for some more oysters!
As always, the perfect dining experience, relaxed but the food, wine and service were of the highest quality!
