Bibendum Oyster Bar
If the sun is shining there are seats outside in the patio area to enjoy a cocktail from a great list of classics, and even if it’s not there are blankets…
Wonderful seafood, great cocktails and impressive art deco interior.
Great experience as always
Nice shellfish dishes
King crab legs - impossible to eat as the meat was fused to the shell.
Rest of the shellfish was good
Overall ....... wouldn’t do it again
Have been twice - experience is consistent
First day or reopening and really impressed. New dishes on the menu have undoubtedly raised the bar. The brown and white crab meat quiche was delicious and extraordinarily light. The unique take on salad Nicosia was really good. The dairy cow fillet steak was served with intensely flavoured mushrooms, crunch hazelnuts and a fiery pepper sauce...and I should have mentioned the perfect oysters. Lovely atmosphere with friendly and efficient staff and everyone, diners and staff alike, looked so happy to be there and enjoying themselves. Would highly recommend. Excellent meal.
A beautiful setting in the Oyster Bar and exquisite food/service.
Overall superb and will definitely go back.
The only thing I could fault was we had music from inside competing with music from outside
Excellent set lunch menu, plenty to choose from. Viennoiserie bread and butter pudding, simply delicious 😀.
Cedric Bosi overseeing the menu and kitchens and Joe Hendricks looking after front of house has worked before and looks like it’s going to work again. I suspect The Oyster Bar will once more become an iconic haunt. Food was great, service impeccable and will ne going back again and again
Fantastic place to eat! Reasonable and more than just fish
Food was good as usual though missed the fresh crab salad which was no longer on the menu. Service was ok but very slow and lacked warmth or attentiveness. Ambiance affected by way tables were arranged - after all we eat in the lobby of an office building
Great oysters and great service I would 100% come back
We had lunch on Sunday at 2pm, it wasn't hugely busy, but service was very slow and when they did come over they got orders wrong or we had to remind about drinks being order etc. In the end we were there until almost 5pm!
Unloved and neglected dinosaur that relies on its glittering past! The restaurant is now actually a foyer to a busy building with people walking past your table constantly. Service was very sweet but food was a disaster. We had a lobster roll at £29 and have had better food in a motorway cafe! One small chewy bread roll, with three lumps of chewy under cooked lobster with three shreds of lettuce and a teaspoon of dressing served with a napkin in the bowl. Side order of oven chips in a one scoop ice cream bowl. Nothing was seasoned or chef like about the food it just looked and tasted very sad. I had high hopes of spoiling my daughter for her birthday lunch but we should have gone to Burger and Lobster for the real deal and understanding of making a delicious lobster roll .
Whilst the food is very good at this time of year the indoor cafe is extremely cold with no heating ~ you don’t want to linger.
the seafood is delicious and Anthony is in great care
Oyster is nice, but mussel is tiny and quite a lot contains sand. Fish and chips is okay.
AS ALWAYS THE SERVICE AND FOOD AMAZING ....
HAD A WONDERFUL VALENTINES AND REQUESTED A RED ROSE AND INSIDE TABLE ... PERFECT !
It is a good place to eat and the menu has get better in the past couple of years. It is generally excellent. The ambience can be challenged by people walking through the area on their way to the Conran's shop. Also the wine list is not good value, and this does not fit well with the excellent food. My hake with beurre blanc sauce was exceptional.
We went on a recommendation for lunch at the Oyster Bar! It was good food, with pretty good service.
What was great about the experience was that they were lovely enough to give us some little desserts to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday! Lovely touch.
Lovely location for a lunchtime treat. The oysters were excellent and crab linguine delicious too. The salt and pepper squid was slightly too strongly seasoned for my taste. All in all, very enjoyable!
The reservation only arrived at the restaurant after we arrived!
We arrived slightly early and had a G&T At the bar and advised the Batman we had arrived and to advise when our table was ready. He forgot and we had to remind him and were them shown to our table. Initial service was good with a new French waiter that had only been there 2 days. My guest had the skate which looked excellent. I had the terrine as a starter which was also delicious. I chose mussels for main which was disappointing.... not much sauce and beards were left in. There was no bowl to put empty shells but there was a finger bowl. I asked for a bowl from a female wAitress but she forgot. It took rather a long time for the main courses to arrive but fortunately the French waiter came to chat and advise it was being played. My guest ordered a dessert which almost thrown at her... the nice French waiter must have been on a break as this was a different waiter. The place is slightly cold as we were sat in front of the entrance but I could see we couldn’t be moved. I would go back but upstairs to the restaurant. I expected slightly better than it was. Ambiance very nice.
lovely to have a dog friendly restaurant . mine are very silent but seems to give joy to other diners when they realise they are under the table!
Poor food microwaved linguine with crab and lobster etc
Used to be much better
Change of ownership??
Ostriche eccellenti, ottimi cocktail (provate il lavander cooler), staff gentile e preparato. Nonostante l'ambiente sia molto bello e nel cuore di south Kensington, ottimo il rapporto qualità/prezzo.
Be very careful of this restaurant. They add 13% service to the bill but this is not itemised on the bill. There is no line showing service charge. A sneaky move as you would now have to add up your bill with a calculator to know this, as the tiny small print on the bottom of the whole bill Is not clear.
We went to Bibendum for my sons 30th Birthday. The meal was great if not a bit pricey. However, 2 people who had the oysters were ill in the evening putting a dampner on the day. I emailed the restaurant, who have not responded. Helen
Knew the team from their great time at The Swan Claygate. Food and service was brilliant
A bit slow service but I understand it. Expensive - yes! Best atmosphere and quality. Love it. Thank you
Was a perfect place to catch up with a friend for lunch before Christmas. The staff were polite, efficient and welcoming. We had oysters, followed by moules mariniere, both were fresh and delicious. Washed down with champagne, a wonderful experience.
Nice as usual Great mussels and fries
The snail was not fresh and very chewy... everything else perfect!
We had the lunch menu. The fish soup was cool and when we mentioned this to the waitress she said 'Thank You'. There was no pepper on the table and we found it difficult to attract the attention of staff but it was speedily brought to the table eventually. The noise level was certainly energetic.
Not at the usual level of service
Really MUCH appreciated the service of a young Italian girl!
Outstanding all round. Food was consistently good and service attentive.
The best all around restaurant in a London never fails.
Reliving old times when we lived in Kensington and it was where we went to celebrate when all our daughters were born in the K&C hospital nearby!
The service is disastrous. The manager complained -to us- that his staff did not speak English well enough. Unfortunately there were truth in it as ordering was laborious (for instance, I had to confirm 3 times that the carrots as a side order to my main dish should be served with the main dish, not the starter, and also "Madam" meant "Sir" and vice-versa). The service from the manager was frantic, with champagne poured not only in but also on the glass as well as on my wrist. Finally, the payment was reminiscent of some kind of action movie, the manager hitting my credit card and hands as a policeman would aim to disarm a suspect. When I pointed out that the service was way too abrupt for my taste, the manager did not understand what that mean. My friend rephrased it, and the manager seem to take our complaint as a compliment.
That beeing said, the food was excellent and served in lovely art deco settings.
Pretentious French cuisine, overpriced menu and wine—not worth the fortune it cost. We ate at the restaurant not the Oyster Bar.
The food was delicious and cocktails perfection. However, there was a long wait for the food to arrive.
