Bill's Restaurant & Bar - Cardiff Bay
With lettuce, tomato, red onion, red pepper tapenade & a green leaf & mixed seed salad
Eggs Benedict with Fries
Two poached free-range eggs, Wiltshire ham & hollandaise served on a toasted muffin
A lovely restaurant, service was disappointing. The first two courses arrived promptly, but we had quite a wait for desert and had to remind the waitress. The manager was very good in sorting things out.
Just lovely, it was all spot on and service was great.
We had a great time. Thank you for the hospitality
Limited main menu. 12.5% service charge, though optional is high in the present climate. Enjoyed our meal & recommend the fish pie. Should sell local ales!!
Food was nice. Friendly staff but felt rather crammed in and it was very noisy
Fabulous gluten free menu. Delicious food. Thank you!
Very impressed with the helpful service. Love breakfast.
Rude staff. Impatient when ordering. Felt like she was rushing. Food was good. Small portions. Very loud, couldn’t hear each other very well.
Busy Saturday evening but service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious and piping hot
A nice meal but some deserts were pricey for the portion
Enjoyed food , although rosemary fries didn’t taste of anything like rosemary ?
Did hear the server telling a customer they had run out of sweet potato fries so perhaps rosemary fries had run out too ?
Disappointed where seated as in a back corner with a kids party of 12 going on next to us and quite noisy and balloons being bounced around everywhere, not the ambiance that my daughter and I really wanted.
Service was excellent.
I really enjoyed my meal-chicken skewers and flat bread and felt it was a good size portion. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals too. Service good, friendly and swift. We were very cold, though, throughout the meal as the large exterior door kept being opened and being left open! My mum had to ask for it to be closed. We wore our coats for most of the meal! This was disappointing and reason I rated ambience as 3*.
Excellent service only beaten buy the quality of the food. This is my go to place for breakfast in Cardiff.
I generally go for breakfast on a weekend with family and friends. However, I must admit that was thoroughly disapointed with the vegan breakfast option, avocado was tasteless and very small portion for the price (£8.99). I have tried the more expensive breakfast options and are larger amounts of food. Just because it is "vegan" does not have to drop in quality and quantity. Otherwise, great place to eat and meet people. Good service overall.
We did have a good evening but lots of food, especially fish not available. The manager was apologetic and did compensate for this. The food we had was lovely.
Over priced. Slow service. Nice location. Tip added to bill so watch that
The service was excellent. Quick and humorous. Thanks
My group of 6 work colleagues saw the 'express lunch' offer on the website and came to bills for a Friday group lunch.
When we were seated we were told Bills at Cardiff Bay don't run that offer so we had to choose from the main menu. This was a shame as we wanted the express menu so that we could get back to the office within our lunch break.
We then had to chase the staff to get someone to take our drinks order, then again when we were ready to order food. When we finally had someone to take our food order the waitress spent her time staring out of the window as the group were giving their order, which seemed rude.
Came from Breakfast with my girlfriend - both had a moderately sized breakfast and a smoothie - total bill came to £40 - seemed a lot for the amount and quality of the food. Beans were very cold and bacon was very underdone and greasy. Not a good experience
Chicken burger very overcooked - inedible. Starters made us unwell. Will not visit again.
Partners food arrived lukewarm at best, seemed to have been waiting for a while. Took a while for food to come. My meal wasn't as described on menu (came with wrap, not flatbread, and no rice). Could not do anything about this, as we had theatre tickets, and would have missed the beginning of the show if we had to wait for food to be recooked.
No offers of sauces etc, people around us had to flag down waiters to ask for vinegar, mayo etc. Asked the person who brought our food for more drinks, but we're told the waiter would be back on a minute, then took 5+ minutes for drinks to arrive. Long wait between starters cleared and mains (nearly 30 mins).
Probably would not return to this branch based on this experience, which is a shame, as we'd had decent experiences in the past.
Our table was in a section of 3 other tables behind the tills which shouldn't be used as it is too cramped for people to pass through - you felt as though you were in the way! The food was quite disappointing, and overly salted, which was a shame as Bill's had been recommended to us by friends.
Almost couldn't pay bay card due to technical problem but luckily it was sorted out. Staff were very pleasant but did have to wait a long time to order after initially being asked if we were ready to order only a minute after sitting down! The steak was delicious though so worth the wait!
We visited for my daughter's birthday and the restaurant were having problems with intermittent power outage. They apologised when we arrived and said this might impact on waiting times for our meal etc. However this did not! The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time (20 minutes between starter and main) and the staff were lovely. Great experience despite the problems they were facing. It did not impact on our enjoyment
Poor evening, food not very hot, very noisy near the bar area where drinks were prepared. Banging bottles into bins and dishes dropped. Slow service. Lots of staff around but not taking responsibility over an area. Dissapointed as have had a nice time here in the past.
Service charge on bill (optional) only half goes to those who serve you
Would like staff to get it all
Nice lunch, cosy atmosphere with an outdoor area too. Friendly staff and food was tasty albeit the lunch menu is a little limited, burgers and salads. Kids menu is good. Service a little slow and the addition of optional service charge is disappointing. I asked for it to be removed.
Relaxed atmosphere. Efficient waiting staff. Good food. Reasonable price.
Busy and a great venue.
Drinks didn’t come till half way through breakfast.
Poached eggs over cooked
Breakfast OK but for price not so good!
Only 2 tiny mushrooms. Random!
Could have been better - let’s hope next time :)
Very nive venue. Staff extremely friendly and service was very good.
Quite expensive for breakfast though.
The Apple and blackberry crumble was hard. But the flowerpot was delicious
We arrived a bit early with table booked for 6:30pm we were about 10 minds late, we were told the table isn't ready and to come. Back in 10 min. Which was fine because by then it would've been 6:30pm, we. Came back at 6:30 and was told yet again that our table isn't ready, it'll be about 10 /15 minutes. This made made me a bit angry as we booked an early table. As we had a 2 year old with us. Who by now was hungry and getting tired of standing outside waiting. What is the point of booking a table if we weren't going to be seated at that time? The first member of staff which spoke to us was quite rude and. Blunt, didn't offer us a drink or nothing whilst waiting in the entrance. By the time we were taken to our table ot was now. 6:55pm. 25 minutes later than what we actually booked. We were quite angry at this point and our 2 year old was frustrated as u can imagine how kids are having to wait. The waitress. Who came. To. Get us told us our 1st round of drinks will be on us, we thought lovley,.Thankyou. Bearing in mind when the bill came the drinks were charged for the first round.
Don't get. Me wrong the food was absolutely gorgeous and I would definitely go back for food. But there's. Some. Work to. Do with the. Booking system as we shouldnt have waited 25 min for a. Table that we already booked for in advance
Members of my party including my 91 yr old Mother (using a mobility aid) were told to 'go away' until our table was ready. My sisters asked if they could sit at the bar for cocktails because Mum was tired and in pain but were told to go away in a very curt, rude manner. I arrived 5 mins early (6.25pm) for the booking and was also told to leave the restaurant until our table was ready at 6.30pm. We found my Mum a chair to sit on near the door inside but had to wait a further 20 mins+ to be seated. The lighting inside was so poor I had to use my phone torch to read the menu. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. The food was average but we didn't stay for dessert as it was so loud we couldn't speak to each other. On the whole a poor experience which has put me off coming to the restaurant again for a long time.
Pre and post theatre vibes.
Food cold and chicken dry.
(Was offered a different dish but because the wait had been so long decided against the offer of a different dish).
Worth noting that the 12.5% service charge is automatically deducted from bill.
Lovely setting and our waitress was lovely. Order taken and starters arriving promptly all of which were delicious. Unfortunately the restaurant became very busy and there was quite a delay with our main courses and some of the food was not as hot as it could have been. Otherwise it was very nice.
Not our first visit and won’t be our last , great service, food fab, love Bills
Food us usually very good but was not up to scratch today. Imagine its just a one off
Had a amazing meal, cocktails were really nice too. Staff were helpful and kind. Will definitely return
Lovely evening and the servers were fantastic. Lovely food.
