Service was good at the beginning, but had to wait over an hour for our food when the restaurant didn’t seem particularly busy. After an hour, a member of the waiting staff apologised for the wait and offered us a glass of wine on the house.
When the food arrived my son’s steak was over cooked (after requesting it medium rare) and super small. My salad bowl was described as containing butternut squash, roasted cauliflower and kale. I spotted one small chunk of butternut squash, I didn’t come across any cauliflower and just three small pieces of kale - very poor really.
What a shame 😔
Our waitress was the loveliest lady! She really looked after us. Caring and a bit of banter! :) loved it!
Booked a table for breakfast but unfortunately the table we were allocated was right by the toilet door. Who would want to sit in front of the toilet with customers going in and out? We asked your waitress to move us to another table, which she did. We enjoyed our breakfast of pancakes and bacon.
Excellent food and service. Would definitely choose again.
Enjoyed a lovely meal as a party of three. We did the special deal where if you quoted “good times” to the waitress you had the choice of two free glasses of wine with your meal, or three beers. Main menu only.
A good meal and great service. Would recommend.
Waiting staff were friendly and helpful, the kitchen was slow ad my egg royale came with less than a slice of smoked salmon and poor presentation although tasty. We sat near the drinks area and when they blender was in use it was unpleasant in terms of noise. Not all staff wore a mask and in my opinion they should (we did). I wear a mask to protect your Staff and other customers so why are you not doing the same for me.
Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. A lovely evening catching up with family in a relaxed environment.
Would highly recommend for any meal sitting and occasion.
Lunchtime on a Saturday is obviously a busy time but the service although friendly was slow compared to what we experience normally at Lewes. The food was good although both my friend eggs had hard yokes. Would have sent them back if they hadn't been so busy. The steaks were excellent.
Food very tasty and service was accommodating but it just takes a long time for drinks and food to get to your table after you order. We waited 20-25mins for drinks and another 5-10mins for food - I'm glad we ordered drinks and food straight away!
One of us had the garden plate breakfast but there wasnt much hollaindaise sauce (hardly any at all!) and the Halloumi was very overcooked
A lovely relaxed atmosphere… good service …. And a very tasty breakfast with value thrown in for good measure
Excellent food, staff and position very worthwhile checking out 😀
Booked a table the week before, and think they forgot about us, had to set up a table at the last minute, got 3 little tables put together for 5 of us.
Food not great, chicken very dry.
Staff and service excellent!
Our waitress was excellent, but delivery from kitchen to table was slow as it would appear the same person did all the bussing, resulting in hot plates but cold food. Mac'n'cheese was perhaps one of the worst I have encountered with a 'salad of one limp lettuce leaf and even limper rocket as an afterthought, but the burger wasn't bad, although literally just a bun and burger with chips was quite expensive. Starters and desserts were ok, but on the whole not a good experience. We haven't been for a couple years and felt we should give it another try, won't be doing that again! £80 for 2 people is not cheap, so although our nearest restaurant will not be recommending.
A very nice member of staff seated us quickly. We were in a booth which was great. The food slightly let things down. It was quite expensive for what you got. Everything was fine but not much of it and some of it just re heated. They forgot part of my sons meal. The baked beans in my daughters meal were dry and not very edible. All in all it was ok, but I won’t be rushing back. Also to add on 12.5% service charge was wrong. We paid by card and were not given the opportunity to refuse paying it. Staff nice.
Unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for our food, not the best when you have a hungry baby. It was only when I mentioned to the waitress that all the tables around us, who ordered after us, were eating that she realised. She was apologetic and supplied us with a complementary round of drinks for the wait, she further removed the service charge from our bill without being asked.
I would say food was ok but it was over priced for quality.
Not as good as my other experiences at Bills. Only one waitress on duty which was tough for her but meant we were left waiting.
Food was good but so hot inside we all left to have desserts somewhere else.
It was a lovely venue for my get together with my granddaughter. Just need to put water on the table for customers to drink when they like
Haven’t been out much lately due to the covid
Had a nice lunch yesterday
Staff were on the ball and worked very hard in all that heat
Excellent food and such hospitable staff, nothing was too much trouble. We spent a lovely time altogether.
Great food and staff. Never a bad experience. We will be back again.
greaat place in a good location. Staff were really nice, food at a reasonable price. Very happy
I took my wife and mum to Bill's and we were all looking forward to it. I can't fault the food but the service was terrible. The staff were all really friendly but we had to wait so long for any kind of attention. Our table only got cleared after is stacked it all myself and sat there looking hopeful!
We are very patient people but this was a bit unfair.
It may have been just an off day, and I am all for a nice natter with the wait staff, but full on conversations whilst there are tables to wait on is not really the done thing.
We did however enjoy the food.
Good food, good value and good service. Defo worth a try
A lovely place to meet for lunch and a chat. The service was excellent and there is a great ambiance. The menu offers a wide range of choice and the food was very fresh - we had a salad. We are looking forward to going back soon
Service was good, however the plate was hot yet the food was only just warm.
Really nice friendly service.
Good reduced menu due to pandemic.
If eating outside be prepared for some noise from Pubs and Bars from either side.
Be mindful that although the food is great but perhaps a little steep in price!
Never got the points. Warning for everybody and nobody to speak to.
Sorry but don't recommend
The start was great, we were greeted nicely and order taken quite quickly. The starters came out quickly and were lovely but….We ended up leaving before getting our mains as it was took an hour from when they took our starters away before they even realised we hasn’t been given our food. I was only let off two glasses of wine when I’m all fairness I shouldn’t have had to pay for any of it as it wasn’t an overall good service. Won’t be recommending it to anyone.
Amazing vegan burgers here and gluten free bun too. Whole experience from start to finish excellent happy friendly staff and couldn’t fault a thing. Waited longer than we would have like for food to arrive but booked last min so not marking down for that.
Service and food was great. We all had different types of burgers and each one had a individual charm to it. Also the flower pot dessert is something that I will be having again.
Special shout out to the waitresses who had to deal with the table opposite us who added a bit of drama to our evening (not Bill's fault at all)...the things customers will do to get a freebie is just stupid.
Well done to the Bill's team. Thanks for a great experience.
Very slow service which isn't acceptable with young children. Table booked at 6:30, didn't eat main course until 8! That's my children's bed time! We decided to boycott dessert, unfortunately as some of us only had one course. Overall we were disappointed.
I had a lovely meal with very good service very friendly and helpful during these difficult times
I found this visit a bit of a disappointment, the way that the table was set up using 4 round tables of two just wasn't comfortable or appealing to look at.
The service was really slow from the moment we arrived, we were left loitering in the doorway of the building as there was no one around, once seated, it took a long time for our waitress to come and take our drinks order and even longer to return with the drinks.
The food took forever to arrive as well and although it was ok, it was nothing to talk about, we all felt that it was disappointing in comparison to other times we had visited. My sandwich had no butter on the bread which was also extremely toasted so not a sandwich in my opinion! We were left waiting for sauces, perhaps these should be provided before the food arrives rather than once it is in front of the customer?
Once finished, we then sat with our plates in front of us for quite a while and they were then removed from us very slowly with some going ten mins before the rest. The whole thing was just slow and disorganised and it was frustrating was that when I got up to go and chase up the bill, I saw four members of the team standing talking.
Good food, great staff, excellent ambiance and stunning architecture
Always a warm welcome at breakfast time at this Bill’s. Sheralee is a great ambassador for your brand. Excellent service!
Lovely waitress, very tasty good quality food and reasonably priced
A very relaxing evening. Food good very enjoyable. Staff excellent.
