Bill's Restaurant & Bar - Leicester
Service was okay but when we asked for some tap water they said they wouldn’t bring a jug but just walk around to fill glasses. They were not around much so we had to order bottled water, and when it came it was warm. I asked for a cold one and instead they brought a glass of ice that we had to split between three of us by getting the ice out with a fork.
In the final bill, they added about £10 for tip without even asking! Luckily we noticed and asked to take it off the bill. It should be my decision whether I want to leave a tip we are not in the US.
Food was ok but nothing special.
Overall I would not recommend, mostly because of the service.
The food just isn’t consistent. You can order the same thing a few times across weeks and it’s different every time (good, then poor). No consistency with the presentation and the way the food is cooked unfortunately.
Poor service, was ignored by staff members waiting 10/15mins by the clock in machine waiting to clock out. Overall took 35mins from being seated to get a server to take out drinks order
Good food and great atmosphere.would eat there again
Excellent service, pleasant, friendly staff and really delicious food. Highly recommended.
Quality of food okay, service dreadfully slow, had to ask for everything and waited 30 minutes for 4 coffee's even though the restaurant was half empty, 12.5% service charge added for a table of 5, won't be rushing to go back.
The fish pie was excellent would order it again. The price was reasonable.
Food was amazing and came out really quickly. Service was appalling! Took 20 minutes for them to bring drinks over, there were only 3 tables in at the time including us. The drinks arrived after the starters. Had to ask twice for water for the table and still did not get any. Staff had an edge to them and there was no checking on the table to see if we needed anything else. They were more concerned about having a natter with each other at the bar than helping customers. Would never return to Bill’s Leicester, will go to one elsewhere.
Food was really nice with good, choices on the menu. We had the sea bass which was delicious and beautifullycooked. I had the crumble but they didn't have blackberries but asked if I would like raspberries instead. I did and it was delicious and fruity. Will definately come again
Meal & service great. Only downside was there was no coffee. I know there are problems with supplies due to covid/Brexit but only told us when we were already sat down to order. Would be better to be told when arrive
Had a lovely date night with my husband, the staff were great, attentive and chatty. The service was great too, but the food was amazing, I would recommend the Sea Bass!
We had a lovely time. The refurbishment gives a calm and welcoming vibe with excellent service from the staff and delicious food. It’s been a while but worth the wait 🙂
The service was great, food nice but a bit overpriced for what it was.
Disappointed that the optional service charge put on the bill without any discussion , ended up asking it to be taken off and giving the tip direct to the server , not sure that we will be returning
Lovely atmosphere, great service . Everyone in there was helpful
Stopped by for lunch. Food was good, came quite quickly and the staff were great.
We had a fab evening at bills bar food was great service was brilliant will definitely recommend to everyone thankyou
Please stay away from breakfast. We’ve actually been a few times for lunch which was great however breakfast was so bad. The avocado was off and brown, pretty sure the poached eggs are microwaved, they had absolutely no taste and parts of salmon were also brown, never had brown smoked salmon before. I’d also stay away from the coffee there, the bean is horrible however I know everyone has different taste but for the price it should be better. £35 for our breakfast and coffee and wasn’t worth £5, definitely will not be returning in the AM.
Lovely breakfast, tea and atmosphere as usual, staff very polite
Lovely food perfect atmosphere and staff are amazingly friendly and helpful
The place was lovely and the food was nice. The waiter was okay no chit chat we waited a while to be served for a while. To have a £4 odd tip added. We didn’t realise at the time. I feel a too should be offered not suggested. This has put me off.
Lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.
Pancakes with streaky bacon and the wife had Egg Royal.
Old fashioned large teapot too..
I went with my girlfriend who had never been before and she said that it was one of the best meal's that she had ever had and it was that nice that if we were not in a restaurant she would have licked the plate clean it was that nice and the truffle fries were amazing to all in all we had an amazing meal and evening at bills in Leicester.
Lovely service lovely food. I was recommended by Ella and I’m glad I went.
Such a great meal. I wish I had our waiter's name. He was ace.
Couldn't have asked for more. I liked the restaurant's refurbishment.
Went for breakfast, sausage was cold, sat outside on purpose and had to wait 15min for 2 coffees to arrive pre breakfast, wasn't the staffs fault and its a lovely restaurant but ordered another coffee half way through breakfast and the waitress said there's a 15 min wait for coffee, breakfast was average, but the location and restaurant appreance and vibe was spot on
The waitress we had was excellent

Drinks took 30 minutes although the lady that took our order was really nice
The restaurant was clearly understaffed which certainly affected our experience. I picked Bill’s on the basis of them usually being great with dietary requirements but despite alerting them to this, and choosing the minute steak on this basis, it still arrived with some onions on top which I couldn’t eat!
Food was nice service really slow. Drinks very over priced. Very disappointed.
Service was very poor and the food dry . No atmosphere
Date with my Hubby. Had a lovely dinner. Staff super friendly. Had to wait a little while as they were busy, but we were happy chatting and the staff came to see if we were ok. Chicken skewers and the Buttermilk chicken burger both delicious.
The restaurant itself was fairly nice and looked clean, there was hand sanitizer on the tables. The service was slow from start to finish, as there appeared to only be one waitress working with multiple tables to serve. The food when it arrived looked ok, but the steaks clearly hadn’t been rested properly as the plates were very bloody. The salads must be sat predressed as the leaves were wilted and the avocado side was not fresh as it had dark patches in it. All of which shows a lack of attention to detail and care for the food. It all tasted ok and wasn’t bad value for money, but the overall experience was extremely average and I would not return or recommend this restaurant.
Food fantastic, poor service let the place down.
Service was let down by severs, brought mains before we had finished our starters. Did not ask if we wanted any condiments or top up drinks
Great food and service every time I visit, will be back again!
We had a short visit to Leicester and decided on Bills as they have good vegetarian options. And amazing fresh drink options. The service was great and attentive. Would visit again.
I’ve been to Bills a few times and never loved it. Although no complaints it just had no wow factor.
The menu is far better albeit a bit expensive however no complaints about the food. My pudding was very pretty
Food was a bit sloppy but service was good. Quite expensive for breakfast for 3 at nearly £40. Breakfast thrown on the plate didn’t look appetising.
food has gone downhill not as good as previous visits
