Established in 2011 by Parisian born Richard Leteurtre and his wife, Gabrielle, Bistro 1902 is not only family-owned and operated, but notably embodies over 35 years experience in cooking authentic French cuisine within the fine dining establishments of Paris and surrounding areas of France.
We dined indoors due to the weather. The space is dark and needs to be improved with small changes like table cloths, candle holders instead of putting plastic battery operated votive candles on the table and flowers in a vase.
The food was just ok. We ordered three orders of boeuf bourguignon that had stringy beef, very thick gravy and a few potatoes and carrots
The bistro 1902 burger was very good but difficult tho eat
The mushroom risotto was excellent but the chicken addition was dry.
Totally below expectations, understaffed, they took half and hour for the appetizers.
If it wasn't for the waiter with great customer service I'd give this place 1 star. This is the 3rd year I've been here and the 3rd year I've had a horrible experience. We'll start with when we sat they didn't have any menus and when we got one it was missing pages . After 20 minutes we finally got our drinks . Since they employed only 2 servers for Valentine's day. And hour later our drinks. Then it started to Rain and we moved tables to a table I had to hold up from falling over. 2 and a half hours later we got our food . The mushroom risotto was bland and actually the only thing you taste was the truffle oil it's in. My wife got the squash ravioli which actually only has 3 of the seven ravioli are squash the rest are cheese. The whole 2 hours we were waiting we only had one drink and a warm Glass of water. The waiter never had a chance to come back. The bread is good though which is all we ate for 2 hours. My honest opinion is stay away from this place at least for holidays maybe there brunch is good but nothing else is and like I said I tried 3 times with the same results. Maybe the owner should stop being so cheap and actually hire servers , at least for the holidays.
A lovely dining experience...Richard was extremely accommodating from table selection to umbrella when needed. Delicious duck confit and bronzini entrees. Escargot appetizer was wonderful. Our 2nd time dining here and we will return.
Very disappointed, French bistro serves wine from Spain and pasta?
Avoid going here if you can. Firstly, the item prices on the Open Table listed menu are different than the in person menu. They have increased their prices. The quality of food and the dishes are bad. For some reason, “pow pow shrimp” was an appetizer brought to us at a french restaurant. With that said, the shrimp and the foie grad terrine were the most edible things served this evening. We were not told that the boeuf bourgignone was not available prior to us trying to order it. The “half backed chicken” ended up coming as two overcooked and over salted chicken breasts. The “jumbo shrimp” was for some reason supposed to be with gnocchi under marinara sauce, however that came as plain shrimp in a soup of oil and diced tomatoes with store bought, reheated gnocchi. The baguette brought to the table was lukewarm but under baked, white as snow on the outside with no crisp; almost as though it was bought pre made and not even fully baked on premises. Now, on to the service. The chef was serving plates to the table and handling the bread with his own bare hands as he was putting it in our bowl. No appetizer plates were cleared prior to serving mains, and for that matter, they were not cleared at all throughout dinner. This all should have been expected after the red flag was raised when we walked into a completely empty dining room at 7pm on a Friday evening. Unfortunate dining experience, avoid if you can.
Thank you for a wonderful dinner. It reminded us of dinners on Saint Martin and brought fond memories to us. The whole staff made us feel welcome and were very attentive 😁
We were very surprised to find the restaurant almost deserted on a Saturday evening at 8:30 pm. The parking was difficult, but manageable. There was a musician outside on the sidewalk terrace, but inside of the restaurant there was only one other occupied table. The maitre’d was in short-shorts and a tied shirt and she showed us to a small table with a menu board full of very high-priced entrees. We looked at the regular menu for the more moderately priced options. I had a pappardelle carbonara, which was greasy and unappetizing. The appetizer bread was delicious, though.
Great atmosphere. Very friendly and awesome service.
Best restaurant in the area! Richard was amazing. We had the crepes and shrimp!
ww were there during the very slow month of September, around hurricane time. It was very quiet. THe server was absolutely delightful . The owner came and chatted with us. The personal interaction made the evening very special for us. While the food overall was very good, the appetizers were out of this world! Perhaps the best caprese with burrata we have ever had, as well as the escargots. And the bread with truffle butter was outstanding!
When we arrived the odor in the restaurant was musty and the dining room was warm. My wife's beef stew was very dry and overcooked. I tried to order sole, they had no sole: then they had no bronzini, so I settled for the salmon which was a very small portion. I do nor recommend this restaurant.
We each had the tradition onion soup and a standard entree from the dinner menu. The food was very good but the rest of the experience was below average. The entire restaurant had an unusual odor; the men's room was in a bit of disrepair and it was obvious the soap dispenser had not been filled in some time; the wine list was inaccurate and the music being played was entirely inconsistent with a French dining experience.
Unfortunately no mention of it at all , no special menu , which I find surprising for a French restaurant .
Food was excellent , service was spotty and not up to standard for the price point of $45 entrees .
The food was worth it but wish they had a higher quality of service .
Chef / owner was personable .
Richard is fantastic. The food is special
Excellent French food. My wife is French and she loves it here. Had a nice conversation with the owners, in French! Highly recommend it.
Very nice place
Prob too good for the area
Fantastic food and wine. Richard is pleasant and welcoming
Food was sub par - felt like they used cheap ingredients and menu pricing was not what was on open table and significantly priced higher. Everything was initially presented as an upselll. Left my meal pretty much untouched.
Excellent food, great service, definitely a must,
Warm & welcoming chef-owner. Different vibe than most local Hollywood restaurants, food nicely presented, well worth the visit.
The food and service were impeccable. There were a variety of items on the menu that you don't find in other restaurants, like frogs legs. I thought it was a little pricey, but I think most bistros are. It was well worth the cost though since the food was really good and I really appreciate good service.
Great time enjoying our meals in perfect weather. The owner and his wife did a fabulous job. The escargot is a must! Delightful!
Very good table Very good service Le personnel est afable
A lovely, very French atmosphere. Good food. And the owner is tres charmant.
Our waitress was a young beautiful woman from Lyons, only 6-months in the U.S. she was classically French which complimented our experience tremendously. The food was very good and the service was attentive. We will definitely return.
eat Food and atmosphere
Terrible experience on Valentines Day. Parking was a nightmare in Hollywood Circle. It rained right before so I'm sure that made seating difficult with no outdoor seating. It took so long to get a table. I was looking forward to cocktails and they said they lost their liquor license 3 months ago, so only beer and wine. They were very overwhelmed! The food was actually good when it did come. The bang bang shrimp was great. At 10 pm my daughter had to leave to get babysitter home, so they had to take their meal to go! The whole experience was stressful and not the romantic relaxing night I imagined! Perhaps on a normal night I would try this place again, but they needed to get their act together this night and did not succeed!
A lovely dining experience at this French restaurant. Nice ambiance.. we dined outside amongst the pretty plants (inside was pretty too). Salmon delicious pleasantly prepared. Duck confit presented beautifully and enjoyed by partner. Overall lovely.
Loved the service, food and ambiance. Always a great spot for a quite date night.
excellent, the noise come from the street, not their fault.
service , food, excellent
Little bit expensive for wine corkage $25.
We usually pay 5 or 10$ for the same service.
so we did'nt use our bottle, but order 4 glasses of wine, we were 4.
The owner was helpful and charming. The foie gras appetizer is excellent as was the duck entree. All in all, a very pleasant and enjoyable meal. We will return
Food was just OK and the service was horrible. They didn't man the restaurant as they should have.
Food was delicious.
Had the wild caught bass.
Service was good, owner had a toothache and had to leave..
Under new management
This place has good food & service
Sea Bass was excellent Dessert was worth the calories
No liquor license just beer& wine
I would go back
Solid French Bistro...food was on the mark, portions reasonable, bread fab, wine super, service well down
The restaurant had a great ambience. The food was amazing. The owner came out and spoke to us, explaining the dishes and we had a great wine tasting session also. The price for this type of restaurant was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
One of the nicest restaurants in the Hollywood, Hallandale Beach area. We have now gone twice and the food is sensational! Richard and Gabby are perfect hosts and everything is done to perfection. You’ll never feel rushed in this establishment and I guarantee that you will enjoy everything you order from your first bite to the last!
Fantastic food and service. A great place for any occasion.
Owner was very friendly. Was recommended that I try the duck legs. Now I recommend it to everyone. Also tried the cab cakes. Plating of food was phenomenal. My guest had the chilean sea bass and I had the filet and lobster special. Both were delicious. Highly recommended for everyone looking for homemade dishes that is willing to pay a little more for better quality.
