Not a clear menu
Staff not very friendly
Heaters or blankets could have been offered to customers like most places are doing due to the weather
The service was really quite poor and uninviting, and the food was overpriced for what it was.
A lovely spot in the sun with good food. The staff was good and we were well taken care of.
It was lovely to be out again and so wanted this to be a great evening
The waitress was friendly but one of two plates of food was almost inedible ( it was only fish and chips for goodness sake )and the other was much better but very average
Not cheap either
I do feel they need to up their game in the kitchen and wish them well
Wasn’t quite the dining experience we expected quite mediocre one main meal the festive turkey burger was burnt and very poor served with cold fries hence won’t be going back.
Great value, service was excellent and the food was great. Location on the Thames is hard to beat.
Excellent food as always at the boathouse!
Amazing venue, excellent customer service, and good quality food
Fantastic Service and Evening had by all- food was lovely
I have eaten at this restaurant before and have to say the food is excellent. However, on this visit I originally asked for a table at 1.00 pm but was only offered 12.00 pm or 1.30 but sadly we were the only diners there until about 1.45, so was unable to understand why I couldn’t have had a later booking. Maybe current restrictions were to blame!!!
Yet again another fantastic evening at the Boathouse.
Such a special restaurant
Superb environment and great food
Excellent service Tables nicely spaced out Excellent food
We wanted to go out as a family group to celebrate our son getting a new job. The Bistro was perfect with great food and such a lovely setting. The staff were attentive and very good at noticing when we needed more water and had finished a course. In these difficult times, and with such changes in all our going out habits, we thought that the restaurant dealt brilliantly and we very much enjoyed it. We will be returning.....many thanks
Interesting and unpretentious food. Ambiance and service were fine.
Pleasant enough, one very good main course, and one very average main course. Starters rather large, one tasty, one not. Service and ambience mediocre. At this price point, would have expected better
A delicious lunch with friendly service-looking forward to dining here again when we're allowed to!
Lovely restaurant and food didn’t like the loud music
Such a fabulous birthday lunch. Shaun and his family team went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely afternoon and were as attentive as we needed them to be. I watched other tables being served and the balance was exceptional, along with the food and ambience. A really lovely experience and a gem of a restaurant in Henley with a fabulous outside terrace overlooking the river where we enjoyed pre and post dinner drinks.
Just fabulous evening lovely welcome and truly excellent honest food cooked to perfection.
This was such a lovely dining experience I almost don’t want to share. From the moment we walked in the staff we fantastic, the food divine.
I will be returning many times
Thank you for making such a special occasion unforgettable
Such a great place to go. The quality of the food, the ambience and view over the river makes it a must-go to place if you are in Henley. Shaun and Gemma are great hosts and will make your experience a great one! Go for breakfast at the weekend - it's just amazing.
Always a pleasure to dine here. Food and service consistently good. In our view the best place to eat in Henley.
Since switching their restaurant to the Bistro format Shaun and Gemma Dickens have gone from strength to strength. In these strange and difficult times they have kept the restaurant running with its usual efficiency and to its usual high standards whilst taking all the precautions necessary to make their customers feel safe.
Fantastic evening at the Boathouse. Food was out of this world and the service was brilliant, attentive but not overly so. Food was well priced but truly outstanding across all 4 diners. Lovely evening, cant wait to go back
The Boathouse is a lovely place to relax with friends and enjoy excellent food. The staff are very friendly and the ambiance is delightful.
I have enjoyed going to the boathouse excellent food twice for Dinner four times for breakfast , that describes how much I have like going there
Breakfast here is a real treat, we were seated at a round table by the window overlooking the river . the quality of the coffee and cooked breakfast was excellent. One slight surprise was the vegan sausages which did not look like sausages or taste very nice.
Good COVID control and socially distanced.
The food was generally OK. They had Heineken alcohol free beer which is great because it's the tastiest alcohol free one we think. The chips were really nice. A little bit overpriced for what it was, we thought. The ribs starter was the most delicious thing we ordered.
Lovely evening, buzzing atmosphere,
Covid safe environment attentive friendly staff.
Really lovely food and friendly service.
Last minute booking after visiting Hughenden and we both really enjoyed our meal at this attractive and clean bistro overlooking the river at Henley, a short walk away from the bridge. The waitress was totally welcoming, charming and efficiency event though sadly I had to say no to the delicious chips and onion rings that accompanied my choice of meal (due to diet reasons). Would make a special trip one day to return here very well prepared food and wide menu choice to cater for all tastes
My partner and I had Sunday lunch at the boat house. Food, wine and the staff were amazing. We will definitely visit again. Thank you.
We had Sunday lunch here last week and I can’t recommend it enough. Their Sunday roasts are as good as I have had anywhere and really good value on top!
Shawn Dickins at the boathouse, their previous restaurant on this site was always our favourite place to eat outside of London and I would be lying if I said we were not totally gutted when they changed to a bistro, I now have to admit I am just as happy with this new set up and menu.
Finally, This evening we had a takeaway pie(served with mash, kale , red cabbage and to die for gravy) from here and once again we were not disappointed , it was fab and tasted as good at home as if it had been served at the table.
Thoroughly recommend both eat in and their takeaways!
Wonderful dining experience and excellent food and service as we have come to expect at The Bistro
Having had two courses by 9.40 we ran out of time given the 10 pm curfew.
Two in our party shared a Tiramisu which was watery and was sent back. The bill was adjusted immediately.
It felt rushed at the end so we feel we should have gone for a earlier booking to really enjoy the experience.
I would also a bit disappointed that the restaurant did not acknowledge the evening was a 30th wedding anniversary celebration.
Thanks for another great night.
The food was alright - not special. Good atmosphere. The wine list started at £30: you were invited to pay £50 or £100 for something good. Two brandies cost us £24. Since we are not Lamborgini owners, this restaurant is not for us.
Came for a birthday lunch. Had a lovely table by the window overlooking the river.
Unfortunately our food choices weren’t available (this was made up for by a lovely gesture) and some things were a little oily like the onion rings and the base of the Yorkshire puddings.
Otherwise the food was really good, steak and chicken cooked to perfection and all the starters were amazing.
We didn’t try the desserts because we had cake after at home, but the complimentary birthday pudding with candle was delicious (we all tried a bit!)
Overall a really good experience, a reasonable price for good quality ingredients, and will definitely be back again soon
Great service from the patron and her team out front - including sound wine advice and lots of tolerance with our attempts at humour... Vlad and his wife (sorry, I did not get your name...) deserve medals for putting up with us...
Starters and desserts were very good - we were a bit disappointed there was no beef and the roast pork was a tiny bit dry, but the crackling and the rest of the garnish made up for it.
We’ll be back....
Sunday lunch was disappointing. Went for Roast beef but not on the menu... main courses were cold and had to be sent back. When it arrived the Roast Pork was as tough and dry as an old boot! Crumble dessert had no crunchy crumble! Staff were nice but a shame about the food.
