Valentine’s Day was the cutest most special evening here. Ambiance was beautiful, extremely covid-safe outside seating. Our own little private area. Food was amazing & servers were attentive. The owner is the sweetest. Extremely memorable night.
Were seated by the entrance. Food was mediocre at best. Crab fondue was nota fondue. Oysters served without any side sauces . Filet Minion small and of poor quality. Melting Chocolate cake, not melting at all. Just a mediocre meal . Excellent service though. Polite and efficient. Disappointing.
I have adored this restaurant for the last few years, but they legitimately blew me away (again) this Valentine's Day. The service was beyond amazing and I was able to request the perfect table upon arrival. My boyfriend (who had not been before) said it is now his favourite restaurant! Thank you so much for the amazing experience - we will be back!
My girlfriends and I had a great meal and get together for Valentine’s Day brunch! Ellie was our server and she’s fantastic- friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! We loved our time there!
Was here for Valentine’s Day brunch. Loved the private booth and amazing Covid precautions in place
Server was great!
We had a 4 course Valentine's Day dinner. We each ordered different things for each course, 8 dishes total. Not a single bad one, nothing even less than excellent. Cozy, romantic, great cocktails too. Highly recommended.
Overpriced, great experience none the less.
Great service. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Outstanding food.
Amazing food and good wine selection. Service is very polite and proper as expected! Definitely worth it if you’re looking for upscale French dining.
We dined at Bistro Cacao during restaurant week 2021 and were seated in the upstairs area with a cute two-person table positioned looking out a window. From the moment we walked in, I liked the place. The vintage decor was stunning and they had French music playing in the background (quietly, not blaring) which made for a romantic date night environment. We started our meal with a glass of red wine; I had wanted a French cabernet but they were out and I ended up with a really flavorful California cabernet our server recommended instead. My husband ordered the escargot in button mushrooms with an amazing garlic butter sauce for an appetizer and I had the butternut squash soup. We both enjoyed our appetizer along with the individually served bread/roll. Our next course was the fillet mignon in a brown sauce with mashed potatoes and green beans for my husband (did not disappoint!) and I had the mushroom ravioli in a creamy sauce. While we both really enjoyed our meal, we would've liked to have salt and pepper on the table to flavor our meal a bit (which we could've asked for but didn't). For the last course, my husband had the creme brûlée (again, did not disappoint) and I had the chocolate tart topped with whole-made whipped cream. Much to my liking, the chocolate tart was not too sugary and was a nice individual size. We left feeling full and really enjoyed dining there. We would like to go back and try the outdoor patio dining area with the fireplaces outside. It looked so cozy!
Nice place 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Amazing restaurant week meal. It would have been nice if they had a restaurant drink on the menu. Drinks were extremely expensive. Otherwise great in all ways.
Perfect in every way. Love Bistro Cacao.
La comida muy muy buena. Pero estuvo muy demorada.
The restaurant week brunch menu was good and our waitress was excellent! Cute outdoor patio.
Great food, service, and ambiance! Highly recommended
Fantastic service, great food, out of this world wine, great ambiance... great place for a date
Fresh food and great ambience for friends catch up!
We had a wonderful time! All the food was excellent, highly recommend the hazy old fashioned, duck, and filet. We’ll be back!
Sam and Ellie are amazing servers. We enjoy every visit to Bistro. Restaurant week was wonderful - loved the duck and you also can't go wrong with a bowl of french onion soup. Thank you!!
Amazing experience. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection (medium rare). Definitely coming back. And the old fashion was great!
Great food. Reasonable price!
We’ve never been disappointed!!
I love this place! The food is great and the staff are amazing. It’s a wonderful little French bistro in the middle of Washington, D.C. and I highly recommend it!
My wife and I had a very nice dinner at Bistro Cacao. The wait staff were excellent and very attentive. The food was tasty and the duck salami was both funky (in a good way), and delicious. The outdoor dinning was perfect - enough airflow to feel safe, yet warm enough to be comfortable.
Perhaps the best outdoor dinning location that we ate at in DC - among: Zaytinya, Duke's Grocery, Buffalo & Bergen, Jimmy T's & Hotel Washington.
Dessert could have been better - molten chocolate cake had a bit of a burnt taste on the outer edges.
Overall, great experience and we will return.
Great setup for outdoor dining. Very pleasant atmosphere for outdoor dining. Handled concerns for covid-19 in outstanding manner.
The food was excellent. They were very COVID-19 conscious which we appreciated.
My wife and I were here for our Valentines Day weekend and we really enjoyed the pre-fixed menu then but we wanted to try the full menu. This time we came for my mom’s birthday and it was an excellent experience. Pacing was good throw out the night, service was excellent, and all of the small plates and entrees were executed with great skill and character. We strongly recommend this location and if you ask for Ellie you will not be disappointed.
The environment is very friendly! The food was good o recommend to couples who just want to spend evening together.
Bistro Cacao not quite up to its usual self. Food was good overall but server forgot about one of two appetizers which was brought out as the main courses were being served. Patrons should also be warned that the outdoor seating is under a tent with mostly closed sides which to some extent defeats the purpose of outdoor dining protection during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Always a great meal at this spot and THANK YOU to the waiter who moved the table over for us despite them already being six feet. We so appreciated it!
As usual our meal was outstanding. When it comes to Bistro Cacao there is no better. The ambiance is charming, and the food to die for.
They have a very nice outdoor dining set-up. The wait staff is excellent and the food is always delicious. The drinks are great as well. They also have a very nice brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
Thanksgiving dinner was a little uneven. The scallop starter and lobster bisque were both delicious. The beef wellington was overcooked and a little tough - but the lamb chops were excellent. The molten chocolate dessert was not quite molten, but the pumpkin tart(?) got high marks. It was a warm evening so the plastic tent flaps could have been more open -- it almost felt (unnervingly) like eating indoors. If the place had been full, we might not have stayed -- even with the tables at a good distance. More air please! The heaters do a fine job and anyone eating outside now should know to dress for it!
Wonderful meal! This was our second time and they didn't disappoint. The patio was warm and inviting and we felt very safe given our current situation.
My wife and I go to Bistro Cacao every year for thanksgiving, we were a bit curious how it would go during the COVID restrictions but the outdoor dining was perfect and the staff did a great job keeping everything socially distant. The food as usual was excellent.
love this place! everything is delicious...the staff are amazing.
The food and the service were outstanding as always. We go to this restaurant every year for celebrations and special events, and we always have a great time here. The duck dish is amazing, and I'd highly recommend old fashioned drink here.
Our meal was excellent, as was the service. COVID precautions were being observed and enforced.
