Located in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C., Bistrot Du Coin serves up delicious French cuisine. Its very relaxed setting features picnic-style table cloths and a second floor to accommodate a packed house. Owners Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon opened Bistrot Du Coin's doors in 2000 for patrons to converse and have fun while enjoying their meals. It offers hearty starters such as French onion soup and fresh, crisp salads, steamed mussels and sautéed foie gras. Veal stew in a creamy sauce, braised chicken in white wine and pan-seared salmon topped with a fresh herb sauce are filling main courses to try.

Bistrot Du Coin hosts parties to celebrate popular French events throughout the year, and it serves brunch on the weekend with its own menu. This restaurant has an extensive wine list, but also offers cocktails and apéritif. It is open year-round and welcomes reservations.

I was very disappointed with both the service and the food. I ordered the salmon, and substituted pommes frites for risotto. I was told the meal came with asparagus, but I never received it. The salmon was dry and didn't seem to be fresh. I had about a couple of bites, and couldn't eat anymore. The only thing I finished on my plate was the frites. Most waiters would ask if there was anything wrong with the food. Mine didn't. Since I was so disappointed the meal, I tried for desert. I ordered the creme caramel. Another big disappointment. It was basically tasteless and too cold. Took a few spoonfuls and couldn't eat anymore. Again, most waiters would have asked if there was a problem, and again mine didn't. Was looking for a good meal on a holiday weekend, and I didn't get it here! Definitely will not return.

It’s such a great place for dinner with friends or a date. You can’t go wrong with this place. My favorite ever is the onion soup, escargot steak and fries pate just perfect!

This is one of our favorite Washington restaurants. It's like a small Parisian cafe. Try the mussels, a specialty, or the steak frites.

We had dinner there yesterday and it was a huge fiasco. service was super slow, it took forever to get our food, at some point we considered the idea of paying for our appetizers and going somewhere else. once the food finally arrived, it was not very impressive. lamb was overcooked and chewy, one chicken dish was bland and the other one was way too salty.

Bistrot was recommended to us by two people and we were NOT disappointed! Fab food, Moyle’s ten different ways, wonderful wines, and great ambience! This was the final night of our DC trip, and it was memorable.

This is a standard in the DC staple of restaurants. On this visit, service was rather slow, the server a little surly, and the food was not up to the usual mark. But will go back. This was an atypical experience.

Service was a little slow at times. Food was decent but not top notch. I think a bit expensive for the quality. So for example, the chocolate for the profiteroles tasted more like Hershey’s than a really nicely balanced chocolate. At Le Diplomate the chocolate for the profiteroles was on point. The little things matter I’m fine dining. Not bad, not great. Also we were jammed into the worlds smallest table. A nice view out the window, but absolutely nowhere for food.

This bistro never disappoints. I have dine many times in all seasons, for casual lunches and for Mother's Day brunch celebrations. Most recently I took a former colleague to lunch there, insisting when he said he had never eaten here. The vibe is special whether they are full or empty of patrons. I recommend all of the mussel dishes, the onion soup and all of the salads. But I can't imagine anything on the menu not being great. Finally, the service has always been friendly, relaxed even when the place is overflowing, and efficient. Bistrot du Coin is one of those casual, excellent, and dependable places that keeps me in love with DC.

The restaurant is packed very tight and is very loud. As an older patron in a wheel chair, that made things difficult for me and my companion. (I noted my wheelchair use on my reservation.) These characteristics may be more positive for younger patrons who like the buzz.
The food was good but, for the most part, not outstanding. The French onion soup, however, was excellent. I had a duck dish in which the duck was cooked a bit too much, and the green peppercorn sauce was a bit too heavy, at least for my taste, and kind of overwhelmed the duck breast.
My companion enjoyed her salad, which was enormous.
If I return, it will not be at such a busy time.

The Bistro just never disappoints. The ribeye with homemade bernaise sauce, along with their famous “frites” is just about the perfect meal. Combine that with a cold draft Leffe Blond, it does become perfect! Staff are wonderful - attentive but not obnoxious. You will never regret a decision to eat and drink here.

I made a reservation for my girlfriend and I to have a nice romantic dinner here and by the reviews it looked like a fantastic place. Many things went wrong though and we will definitely not return. The first thing was that the atmosphere was just way too loud and it says this restaurant is not kid friendly yet there were like 5 kids running around the area. Second thing that went wrong was that we were given a small round table near the window next to a pregnant woman. It was obvious that there was no way we could both fit at that table but the hostess told the pregnant woman to move over for us to squeeze into that spot. We requested a different table and the hostess mumbled that there was one in the back and angrily lead us to that table. Definitely not friendly like their motto says on the site. Well the table was next to the kitchen and there was a breeze coming from it the whole time. Lovely. It took a few minutes for a server to get to us and at this point we were planning on leaving but we decided to give the food a try. My girlfriend ordered the bouef bouguignon and I got Cassoulet Du Bistrotier. Both dishes were pretty disappointing. The bouef bouguignon was way under seasoned and the meat was chewy and the noodles were just awful. My plate was alright but still under seasoned. The server never returned to ask us how our food was but did check on the table next to us so that was strange. I asked for the check and was presented with a dessert menu. Uh no thanks, not taking another chance at being disappointed. Definitely the worst place I’ve ever eaten at in DC and the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I regret coming to this place and wasting my money.

Wonderful, wonderful food - the best onion soup I've ever had; I'll be dreaming about it forever! The waiter (Ishmael) was attentive and thoughtful, and recommended some great meals. The bistro was full and busy and had a great atmosphere. I was recommended this restaurant from a French friend and it was better than I could have wanted. Thanks so much for a wonderful Valentine's dinner!

Made a reservation and was seated promptly. As usual, server was very knowledgeable about regular menu and specials. Ordered New York strip ( special that evening) which was oversized and cooked to order with perfection. Ambience always takes me back to my years in France and Belgium, and I feel as though I am returning to the familiar neighborhood bistro. Only issue is the closeness of the tables and seating , which creates little room to maneuver when the restaurant is full.

Being going here every time I travel to DC for years. Always great service, ambience and food. This night was a waitress that was visibly unhappy, unable to hear or understand us, and got our order wrong. Then argued with us about it. My monkfish dish was tasteless and the steak made of cardboard

I come here almost every time I come to DC - lunch, dinner, it's all good. Consistent, classic French bistro. Steak maison or cassoulet - always starting with some mussels. Desserts are also a delight.

As always, superb dinner and good service. We come here for my husbands birthday and it never disappoints. The salads are perfectly dressed, the escargot is always tender, the mussels normande is our new fav. We had to get a bread refill just to soak up the goodness! Wait staff is well trained and anticipate what we need before we know we want or need it.

I will start by saying I am French and had been looking forward to trying out Bistro du Coin for a while. The food quality was sub-par. The cheese plate is extremely overpriced (over $15 for 4 very thin and tiny pieces of cheese) - you can find much better value elsewhere. The duck confit I ordered was barely confit (and therefore overly fatty) and the side of potatoes was nothing special. The mussels other members of my party ordered were very mediocre being too dry and lacking of broth. The desserts were okay. The only redeeming aspects of Bistro du Coin are that you can get a good bottle of wine for under $40 and that the ambiance is nice. Everyone in our large party had a mediocre to bad experience and I ended up with food indigestion. There are much better options for French dining in DC.
