BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse - Virginia Gateway
Appetizers came out quickly and were delicious. My side of garlic mashed potatoes were fairly dry and luke warm. I thought my ribeye was good. My friends were equally meh about food. Nice wine with our meals.
We both had ribs. They were dry and overcooked and lacking barbecue sauce. Broccoli was overcooked and tiny pieces like it was from the bottom of the pot. We were almost finished before the server came back to see how things were.
So great. We loved the food so much. This is our date night spot so we come here a lot. We’re big fans
My first time there. Was honestly surprised by how good the food was. Definitely going back.
Where to start? Service was poor from first greet to paying the check, food was not good, floors and chairs dirty, menus were sticky, restrooms gross.
I have been to this restaurant before and have had better entrees. I ordered the wedge salad with steak. A ton of lettuce...not enough of the rest of the toppings to make it tasty. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich...they forgot the sauce....then brought a side of mustard. The combination didn’t work. I’ve had good food here though but they should work on consistency. Great atmosphere!
Our reservation was honored and we were immediately shown to a table. I'm used to calling ahead to BJ's and waiting up to 10 minutes to be seated, so now having the ability to make a specific reservation on Open Table is a plus.
We did encounter a service problem. We ordered an appetizer to share and two entrees. Unfortunately, the runner came out with our entrees before we were served our appetizer. We told the runner that we were waiting for the appetizer and that we expected fresh entrees, not the same ones reheated, after we finished the appetizer. Our server came over to the table to apologize for the mixup in the kitchen and assured us that were would get fresh entrees. When the entrees were served, they appeared to be fresh, but we could not tell. Other than the fries on one of the entrees, nothing was super hot. However, the temperature was adequate.
Our server more than made up for the kitchen's error, and he apologized at least twice more. However, the one thing that surprised us was that no member of the management staff came to the table to acknowledge the error and apologize.
We often eat at BJ's. It's great for a casual meal and has an extensive menu. It also has some excellent beers.
We arrived early for our 5:00 reservation, but BJ's took us right to our table. Service was fast and the server was courteous. I'll be back again!
I wish I could have reviewed an actual experience of eating at this restaurant... but alas I cannot. I was told when we checked in at 5:59 for a 6:00 reservation that we would have a 40-50 minute wait for our table. What part of making a reservation with OpenTable did I miss the part where we were not actually getting a table guaranteed for the specified time? What a disappointment. The bbq place across the street was just fine and probably a better value and more enjoyable experience.
awesome. very good for those who have allergies. we love going there for dessert.
Every time I visit I have a great experience. Service was very very good. Not sure I will order the calamari again; it was not what I thought of as fresh. All the other items ordered were incredible. The buffalo chicken pizza tavern cut is the best I have every had. The steak and cheese sandwich was like getting one in Philly. The other entrees were equally great. The menu is expansive and I keep going back to try new things, but it is hard because I like the prior food that I have ordered in the past.
Party of 6 very nice seatin a booth conducive to conversation.
Great for our bigger family
Food is really overpriced and average quality. Drinks are good with great variety but are expensive and seem to have very little alcohol in them. One drink and a chicken meal was $30.
It used to be a really great restaurant but both the quality of the food and the service has fallen off considerably. It took well over an hour to get our food, our waitress had to be flagged down multiple times. Once we actually got the food it was cold and just didn’t taste anywhere near worth the money.
Meal came out incorrect from order. Had to wait over 10 minutes for simple request for butter. Drinks were never refilled.
Family visiting from out of town
Unorganized and chaotic check-in process and an extremely rude hostess who obviously doesn’t like her job didn’t help. Despite a reservation on Open Table, still had to wait 15 minutes. Once you got past the chaos and lack of social skills at the front, everything else was great!
Came in on time, seated immediately. Service was excellent, the waitress frequently came back to ask how to food was. My date and I had a fantastic time.
They brought adults food before children's. Then when they finally brought children's food the plates were hot as if they had been city for awhile
There was miscommunication about the Easter prime rib promotion. We asked our server about it and another employee, who gave conflicting information. If we had not overheard the manager talking to a table beside us, we would have missed out on a delicious, great value prime rib dinner.
My friends and I had a good time at BJs. The service was pretty quick, a few hiccups though with server remembering orders, and one of my friends got their order switched and had to wait for her order again. Otherwise, the food was good and came pretty quick and the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere
Great food and service. We will return for another visit.
Not my favorite restaurant because there are too many items on the menu so this narrows the ability to have anything other then average food. The last time I went the Chicken Alfredo didn't resemble the picture on the menu - could hardly find any of the broccoli that was one of the ingredients pictured on the menu. But I decided to try again since a friend wanted to go there. Her dish was pretty good but its pretty hard to go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs. I ordered the margherita fresca flatbread because I thought it would be similar to Margarita Pizza -which has a simple fresh pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. The only similarity with the BJ's flatbread was I did see tiny bits of what may have been basil... it was so bad I hardly ate any of it. It reminded me of a saltine cracker with some unidentified cheese - never did see any hint of tomato sauce let alone fresh tomatoes.... Probably won't be going back.....
It was a good place to have drinks, dinner and watch the game. A little loud but to be expected. Food was good and temperature appropriate and Robert S did a great job pacing everything as not to be rushed.
Love BJs and love the food!! Our server was great!! The only thing that was frustrating was that we reserved seating because we know that’s it’s always crazy and we needed to get to something after we ate and we still didn’t get seated for 40 minutes after our reservation time! Made us miss our next plans!
Consistent food as usual. No surprises here. The wait staff is young and sometime inexperienced but it’s s great place to catch up with friends.
Although I would recommend this restaurant based on previous visits, I was disappointed in both the food and service this time. The waiter was overwhelmed, clearly didn't have is priorities straight and the food was mediocre. We have had better on other visits.
Always great. Very crowded.
This was my 1st time to the restaurant great service great food will definitely be back
Food and service were very good. The waiter was always available when needed even though it was busy. The downside of the experience was that although we had reservations through Open Table, we had to wait 20 minutes just to get a booth instead of a center table which was not in a desirable location. Even though the waiter was very prompt to bring the check upon our request shortly after receiving our food, the delay being seated made us late to our movie.
A group of 6 met there for lunch. The server was great in managing to keep everyone happy. Everyone was pleased with their lunch. The BJs brewed beers are great. The only negative, and this is just personal preference, was the pizza had too much tomato sauce on it for my taste. I would definitely go back again. There is a large menu to choose from and everything looks yummy.
The food was very average this time. Normally we enjoy trying different things on the menu but the hamburger, bbq salad and veggie bowls were nothing to write home about. I would go again and try something different but they need to up their game.
Good place to go with lots of options on the menu. Our party's choices ranged widely from burgers, salads and Asian noodle dishes. All were fresh and well prepared. Great beer and wine selection, too.
Great service and great atmosphere. The atmosphere is very bar like in that it is restaurant noisy meaning that there is a lot of chatter that you can hear. Nothing to be turned off by though. I recommend that you sign up for the rewards program so that you can get discounts on your food. We did not realize that we had a $15 coupon but our server did and happily applied it to our ticket.
Great place for options. Menu is large and atmosphere is casual and fun. Great place to meet friends.
The food was mediocre but the service was very good. They served us quickly and efficiently. We did not like some of the food we ordered especially the turmeric roasted cauliflower which was full of Cumin - and if I had known that, I wouldn't have ordered it (it also was not roasted as described). The Brussel sprouts were also not what was described on the menu.
Absolutely love this restaurant. Every time we’ve gone we have tried something new and they have yet to disappoint. All the staff is friendly and we’ve never had bad service nor an order incorrect. Give this place 5 Stars across the board and can’t wait to go back!!
Love the prime rib dinner when they have it. The deal can't be beat. Even includes one of those amazing pazookies!
This was a 6 pm New Year's Eve 6 pm reservation for two. At first the hostess said they really didn't take reservations and seemed to indicate we'd have to wait 45 minutes. Then somehow sanity prevailed and they seated us on time. Someone at BJs either needs to get on the right page or they should be taken off Open Table as an option.
