Black & Blue - Borough Market
In 1999, the boys decided that they wanted to bring a high-street, high-quality steak concept to London, Black & Blue and the first modern American steakhouse in the capital, was born.
Went for the set lunch. Delicious and exceptional value
The staff were very nice but we had to wait at our table for about 15 minutes before anyone came over to offer drinks and at that time the restaurant was empty. We found the quality of the food of very low standard especially for the price. I had a vegan burger for £15 but it looked like something you would get from a cheap burger takeaway. The venue was very nice but i didnt see the need for a dj in a restaurant as we could hardly hear ourselves talk.
We were looking for a steakhouse south of the river. Found this one on OpenTable. It looked impressive when we arrived in terms of a hip restaurant. We had a booth and it was really loud. The staff was rather abrupt and seemed more inclined to get you in and out. We ordered appetizers and they were terrible. Spinach dip and chips which you find at a pub plus dried out chicken sticks. Although to her credit, the waitress said they weren’t her favorite. The filet was okay. Nothing different than what you might get at Outback Steakhouse. Overall would have rather tried out another restaurant in London given it was our last night.
My husbands 60th birthday meal. Staff were so attentive and really made it special. Food was exceptional . Drinks perfect. Thanks to all involved. Great ambience and surroundings. Can’t wait to return.
Black and Blue Borough Market is located just outside the market, about 5 minutes walk from London Bridge Station. The service is very friendly and efficient and our steak was superb! The cote de boeuf is especially recommended.
Was a Saturday night and the service was prompt and efficient. Bit pricey, especially the wines, but the food was good overall. Husband ordered the wings with salt and lime and they were dry and inedible, pointed out to waiting staff who said, oh sorry, and that was it. Otherwise all food was good, steaks nice
Good venue for me and my brother to meet as we live at opposite ends of the Thameslink line.
The staff here are always visible and very pleasant, professional and efficient.
Our order was taken quickly and the speed of delivery was just right.
Food was definitely above average and the steaks cooked perfectly. One sauce was forgotten but very quickly produced.
By London standards a three course lunch with wine and service seemed reasonably priced at £140
Great location and made to feel welcome. Fries to accompany steak is disappointing.
Excellent food, very friendly staff but found it very hard to grab their attention a lot of the time. Overall though, I definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be going back again.
I went for a client lunch on Friday and we had the set lunch menu. I chose the artichoke and cheese dip for starters, it was very strong which I didn’t think twice about and then had awful D&V the following 48 hours. It’s now Sunday and I’ve just recovered, I’ll be contacting the venue directly but wouldn’t recommend this place. We had a blonde waitress who was very cold and unfriendly although the servers who brought our food were lovely. The venue itself is nice but very disappointed with the food.
Solid place to eat. Their set lunch menu is very good value and wines quaffable. Good place to eat after a decent pint in The Rake or The Market Porter close by
I would like to thank whole team for making my mum's birthday such a great experience !
Black and Blue Borough Market is conveniently located just outside the market, about 5 minutes walk from London Bridge Station. The service was friendly and efficient and our steak superb. The cote de boeuf is especially recommended.
No caramelisation on their steaks, bad quality produce. Meat was very tough and lacked any distinct taste of dry ageness. Complete lack of flavour and colour. To the head chef, cooking 101- Colour is flavour. An altogether poor experience. To those who are thinking of going you are better off at Goodman, Hawksmoor, Zelman meats or even flat iron if you are after value for money.
Excellent value for money. Friendly service. Good food.
Nice food and good location but felt it was over priced compared to others
It is a bit noisy but the food is great and service good.
Had the grilled seabass with fries which was really good. Service was also on point, apart from one waitress who kept asking to bring more drinks although we had told her no. Other than that, definitely recommended!
Black and Blue Borough Market is conveniently situated just outside the market about 5 minutes walk from London Bridge Station.
Service was friendly and efficient, and our steak superb.
Lovely food and atmosphere for our long over due catch up. Service was brilliant, we only had a main course each, what was £15 each , not a lot to drink but can to £43 a head so obviously really charge on drinks. But still a good night x
We always come to your Borough restaurant to eat . The lunch menu deal is fabulous and we always get such good service.
Excellent family meal
The chicken wings for starter and lamb chops with mash for main are WINNING! Have it every time I go.
Had a lovely Birthday celebration meal with my mum, sister, daughter and niece. The food was lovely. The service was exemplary. All staff very friendly and helpful but not in your face. A lovely surprise was the bottle of bubbles and pudding on the house. Would most definitely recommend to friends and I will be back. This was my 2nd visit here. Thank you Black & Blue.
Great venue really good food and reasonably priced, try the beef to share, yum
Service was very slow and it was hard to get the attention of a server. Steaks were cooked as requested but both our Sirloin and Fillet were quite chewy. Desserts were about average. Overall we had great expectations but were underwhelmed.
Excellent place with amazing service. Busy area with space to eat
Fantastic first visit - great DJ and staff fantastic
Another good evening at Black and Blue!
Staff were fantastic and friendly from the outset. Service was quick and food was great. Happy hour on cocktails from 4-6. Cocktails are reduced by about £4. This was a welcome surprise. My wife and I had a great evening and will definitely be back.
We went on Sunday night, the service and the food were the best we’ve had in London for many years, water was brought to the table and refilled without being asked, wine was excellent value, and the steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted, Overall we were very impressed
What can i say, got recommended by a friend, Staff were very friendly, once at table my chair was very dusty, prawns in bread cream were very nice but my steak was a let down. I've had better steak its a shame i won't be going back.
We had an outdoor table as asked in the booking. Excellent wine and food and a lovely lovely evening. Great experience.
Our first experience of Black & Blue at Borough Market turned out to be quite excellent. I needed somewhere close to London Bridge station for a family re-union meal for 3 couples. The restaurant is ideally located at the back of Borough Market - neatly and quirky built around and under Victorian brick railway arches ( despite having a busy railway operating above the restaurant I was the only one of the 6 of us that could even sense the occasional train). The character of the place, the booths were ideal for our event , the service was efficient, friendly and obtrusive. The food was really good quality - we had 3 courses - all different and all met with a good response from round the table. A couple of us had cocktails instead of dessert -- and they were a really good! When the bill arrived I was pleasantly surprised with how reasonable it was - I was expecting it to be more than it was. I shall certainly be going back.
Fantastic experience from start to finish
Four of us had a very nice dinner. The waitstaff were really friendly and helpful. Our friends loved the mocktails, and we shared a very nice bottle of wine. My ribeye was a little tough, and my husband's 'medium' steak frites was far too rare for his liking. But overall it was a good meal.
A lovely anniversary pre theatre dinner thank you! Black and blue is consistently good and we look forward to returning in a few weeks
Superb food and a fantastic place to people watch. Highly recommended.
Ambiance and food was very good, the service was excellent and very friendly. I would have liked a wider wine menu, but that's just me and a small thing really. Overall I would recommend and definitely go back again.
Fantastic venue. Great food, superb atmosphere. First time visit - will definetly be coming again.
Food delicious - they know how to cook a steak.
