Black & Blue - Waterloo
We believe that to produce the best food, you should work with all your suppliers on a close and personal basis. We acquired our own butchers, Jefferies in Kingston, so that we could control our meat all the way from the abattoir to the table. This helps ensure that our steaks and handmade burgers are of the highest quality.
In 1999, the boys decided that they wanted to bring a high-street, high-quality steak concept to London, Black & Blue and the first modern American steakhouse in the capital, was born.
Aged for up to 28 days Pave Rump, Béarnaise, Fries
Baby Back Pork Ribs, Barbecue Sauce, Fries, House Salad
Grilled to order with Cheddar Cheese, Bacon, Fries
This is a must eat at restaurant if visiting London! So glad we ran upon it. Good food here has been hard to find but we found it at Black and Blue!
We dine here whenever we spend a day in London and are never disappointed.
The steaks are fab and come with skinny fries and a fresh, simple house salad.
Good choice of wines and a great Irish coffee!
Service always excellent - attentive and friendly even on a very busy evening.
Very convenient place to meet . Staff are genuinely welcoming and attentive. Food is excellent. Busy junction but quiet inside. Definitely will revisit. Thank you Team for wonderful lunch.
I was really impressed by the attentive staff. Izzy took particular care to check that I was happy with the way my steak was cooked after I left some of it. The steak was delicious and I was impressed that she noticed and bothered to check. It is a pleasure to be looked after with such care and attention. Many thanks to Izzy and the rest of the team at Black and Blue. I hope you get the lovely customers you deserve.
Very good food. Lovely salad. Just a personal thing - I prefer chunky Chips. Disappointing only ice cream, sorbet or cheese for dessert. All other items not available
Service with Paulo was great he was attentive. Found was delivered in good times between courses and tasted lovely. We only had the one drink but the rose was fresh and refreshing
The table was by the door not ideal but didn’t have people staring or hoovering behind us. Music nice and trains overhead were not distracting
The security on the door was nice it made us feel safe and able to relax
Great food! Partner and myself really enjoyed it here! Thanks
Worth booking as it is very busy but the food was excellent and wine was well priced a perfect end to the day
Popped in to B&B whilst waiting for a train. Staff were excellent, very friendly and quick to serve. Food was really good - steak and salmon between us. A little expensive for location and quality but I would be happy to return.
. I prefer the location in Borough for vibe/ambiance but not too bad at Waterloo.
Unexpected pleasure and relaxed good atmosphere and food in a chain restaurant, Black & Blue by Waterloo station. A good experience.
Very nice food very nice staff and a very nice place 👍🏽
The steak was luke warm and alittle tough for medium rare.
The starters which were wings, they tasted like rubber hardly any meat on them.
Overall there are many other steak restaurants out there, which are way better.
Excellent location, close to Waterloo Station. Very friendly and attentive staff. Good choice across the menu. Nice pre-show dinner experience.
The food was great but the service was a bit of a let down. Our server was kinda rude, made us feel like a burden. The service charge came to nearly £8 which we did not want to pay, we wanted to pay our own tip rather than being told what to pay. Our server refused to remove the service charge even though we told her we were still tipping her just not the service charge amount. She just ignored me and said “no not today you have to pay the service charge” it was really embarrassing and uncomfortable. Won’t be back which is a shame as the food was great.
It was a great place to get our protein fix after our London Mar
We eat at Black & Blue prior to going to the BFI IMAX so we were limited for time. Good food and excellent service! We chose the steak frites which was a good value option, very enjoyable. If ordering red wine, go for the malbec, definitely worth the extra.
Ribs were sooo tender... my wife had the fillet steak which was also very tasty .. artichoke starter and chicken satay skewers for starters and no complaints.. staff were assertive and prompt with everything.. overall very good
Awesome, fantastic, just go you wont be disappointed
Upset that the blue cheese option for the burger has been removed. Cheese on our burgers SO THIN it dissolved into the burger, really skimpy. Server just said 'that's how it comes' saving grace was that quality of burger same high standard as pre-pandemic. Used to have jazz nights here but not any more. This experience makes it easier to look elsewhere.
We enjoyed our visit. The food was good and the service excellent. We'll come again.
Expensive for what it was, portion size was small but staff were very efficient.
It doesn't have the ambiance of the Archduke and the menu is more limited but the food is great, the service is excellent and the prices very fair. I cetainly plan to return.
Food was awful. Had absolutely zero taste and nobody came to check on us after the food was served whilst the table across from us had 3 different servers come to check on them. Disappointing. Will not be returning.
Great food staff excellent definitely visiting again
Our waiter was amazing, very attentive and personable. All of the other staff were extremely professional and provided a great level of service. The food was great.
I have been here several times ans jt is always a lovy experience
, great service and amazing food and cocktails!!
Good straightforward steak, chips and salad at a reasonable price.
We had steak frites and expected a thin slice of steak as is the tradition but instead had a 6oz (at a guess) rump steak. Whilst not what we were expecting the steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious.
Visit spoilt by being given our bill at 9.30pm and being told the restaurant was closing!!!
Realty enjoyed this place, shame we love out of town or we'd be there every week.
It was fine. Close to the Royal Festival Hall. Staff is very nice
Customer service was outstanding! Never been served by someone so energetic and kind! Enjoyed the experience and would definitely return!
Good food, great staff, excellent location. Well worth a visit.
It has gone downhill, but remains expensive. The menu changed since I went a few years ago - much worse than before. It's not a proper steak restaurant anymore, they just have 3 steak options. It's like they've downgraded the whole menu but kept the prices high - it was still £50 a head but standard pub quality, disappointing.
Black and Blue has a limited and simple menu - but the point is what they do they do extremely well.
The service was fantastic.
Good, prompt and efficient service. Very attentive but not overly so and food very good.
Very good service!
This is our 'go to' place when we are in town. Really nice food and delicious cocktails. Great friendly atmosphere. It is under the railway arches so you hear trains overhead, but that adds to the atmosphere
Waited quite a while for our food once we’d order, credit to the manager who gave our party free dessert for everyone
Good service and staff were great, also very good with people with allergies. very serious about any cross contaminations.
rib eye steak for my son was under cooked from his order of MR was more less that R.
Manager was really good about it and also the waitress as she spotted it and said that it was under and shouldn't have come out like that for a Rib eye as my son didn't want to say anything about it.
otherwise everything was great and will visit again. first time at waterloo but have been numerous times to the Borough restaurant
