Nice venue with friendly staff, well organised considering the Covid restrictions, the roast beef stottie was gorgeous.
Waitresses were quite abrupt, didn’t ask how food was untill after meal was finished. Slow service for drinks order considering the place was very quiet.
Sat outside due to covid restrictions, had booth facing children’s play park which had 3sides, roof and heater (thank goodness as it rained) wipe down plastic high chairs provided. Value for money tasty lunch food ( prawn jacket and pork bap) definitely new favourite place to go. Thank you
First outside dining . The weather was terrible. Raining all the time. The pod we had sheltered us from the rain with an occasional drip. The food was excellent. Service was great . My pot of tea was not very hot and mushy peas Luke warm but the weather did not help to keep food warm. We enjoyed our meal and beautiful setting. Have booked again for 18th of may so hoping weather has improved
Lovely food and great outdoor area for the children!!
Service was slow and one of the starters was missed. The staff seems overstretched by the number of people being served.
Booked & sat in the courtyard, we were ignored for 30mins whilst watching later tables getting served their food? The menu had changed overnight & ribs & chicken wings do not make a good Sunday lunch starter so didn’t bother. Asked for two cappuccinos which took forever then were stone cold, we also Ordered a coke put got a pint of flat no flavour Pepsi, vile & left full glass, It started raining when we eventually got our food so we moved under the canopy & asked for the heat lamps to be put on as it had got cold when it started pouring down. Guess what, they don’t use them & they don’t work? Pretty poor service overall & definitely one off my list of Sunday lunches. Very slow service & to top it all off, I was double charged for my drinks & when I was asked, “how was your meal” the lady on the till point wasn’t the least bit interested. No discount or concern was given so we left feeling hungry without dessert & one to chalk up as a NO GO.
After an initial small confusion on table the Food was beautiful
Booked a table for Sunday 9th may we were sat right next to the park with a squeaky swing going all the time ,the table was on a terrible slant, ordered drinks, then looked at the menu only to find one vegetarian option as my wife doesn’t eat meat which was a quorn sausage I know we are just coming out of a pandemic but surely a chef’s capabilities can stretch to more than a sausage.Luckily there was fish and chips so ordered them when they eventually came was disappointed at the portion size for the price,we asked for extra vinegar and some salt as there was none waited 5 mins still no salt or vinegar,so we started eating as by this point was getting cold finished the meal and still no salt or vinegar so we paid the bill and left very disappointed as first time here but won’t be back we eat out a lot at various place and the service, and food and all round experience were not good enough for us to consider going back
Very slow service. Really disappointing. 2 drinks in 2 hours.
Food was delicious and great service even in the rain
Seated on time in a booth which I’d asked for . Service was prompt and food was really nice even though it was a shortened menu in the garden . Couldn’t ask for more .
We always use the Black Horse for family occasions or cheeky treats! This was for my daughters 17th, unfortunately it was raining but staff opened a covered area for us and made us feel extra special
Went on a horrible wet day. Had a table under over with a heater. Covid guidelines were followed very well inside and out. Tables we clean. Staff were very friendly and professional. Excellent service!
We went here for afternoon tea for a family birthday. The seating areas was nice, the food was lovely. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse from lovely and sunny to rainy. Luckily we were able to move into a sheltered table, but if one hadn’t become free our food would have being ruined. It would be better if there was more sheltered seating.
But overall the food was lovely and the staff were good, and we got regular tea top ups when requested. The weather can’t be helped.
Freezing - it snowed - in May!! Excellent afternoon tea, attentive staff, plenty of tea and coffee.
Service was very good. Food was good too. Could have been more choice for vegetarians.
As always the food and service were excellent. I know they can’t control the weather, but because we had work papers to discuss I had booked one of the wooden gazebo tables. Unfortunately when we got there (on time) they were all occupied. When it started to rain our papers got wet and we had to leave to continue our discussions in an office. Lovely lunch though! Les.
Look forward to a return visit once these awful restrictions have been lifted.
A lovely setting for lunch overlooking the countryside. The recently refurbished terrace is an improvement. The service was efficient and helpful and the food was tasty and good value. My partner had a salad and I had the special, a mushroom stroganoff both of which were nice. The unpredicatable UK weather though means you need to wrap up warm and have a raincoat! Lovely when the sun shone but not so pleasant when it started to snow in May!!
We visited on the 3rd May 21. The weather was so bad, windy and lashing it down with rain. The service we received was second to none, despite the weather. Staff were welcoming, polite and helpful.
We will definitely return.
Booked using this site but when I arrived I was given a table in the rain rather the covered table I’d booked with a high chair. I could see my empty table but was told it wasn’t mine. It should be explained on the booking site that most of the tables are exposed to the rain.
Rowdy customers not abiding by covid guidelines creating an unenjoyable atmosphere for an anniversary evening.
We ordered a Pork Sunday dinner. The dinner came with no crackling or stuffing despite it being on the menu. Our food was also cold when it arrived.
Everything thung great, except how windy and cold it was, however it is not sth they can control.
Lovely to be out with friends again. Tables generously spaced out in the garden areas. Staff worked tirelessly between all tables to provide good service. Food was good and was received warm and stayed warm whilst eating outside! Perfect afternoon catch up with friends in a beautiful setting. Definitely recommender
Absolutely lovely lunch, kids played in the park and the weather stayed dry! Food was excellent and so was the service.
Slow service, placed in the children’s play area
Well set up for the current situation. Friendly and efficient staff. Tasty meal with generous portions.
Beautiful setting, lovely food, will definitely be back.
Quickly seated by staff, waited a while for order to be taken but drinks arrived swiftly followed by the food. Needs a bit music just playing on low.
Food great as always.
Waited nearly an hour before being served. Once served the food was nice and the setting was good
Absolutely brilliant, had a great time. Highly recommend.
The meals were lovely...big portions on the bbq meals. The 1st drinks order and meal order were quick to be taken and to be served. Staff were lovely. Unfortunately no one came back to take the 2nd drinks order and we couldn't catch anyones eye so we left but would have stayed for another drink. We were disappointed that we couldn't have a starter because we were outside???
Would definitely go back and look forward to being inside again!
I booked a table for my partner's 40th birthday. It took 30 minutes to have our drinks order taken. People were being served before us who arrived later. We sent the food back to be cooked properly. We felt ignored throughout the whole experience and others received preferential treatment. We won't be going back.
Good service, excellent setting, good COVID approach.
Sons 21st birthday. Mentioned this when booking and asked for a nice table. There has been little thought or expense or provision made for outdoor dining. No umbrellas, no patio heaters we were freezing and it rained! Staff were unhelpful and frankly rude. Will not be returning.
It’s very cold around the back by the toilets would suggest patio heaters? And the service was slow between drinks. Food was very nice
It was good to be back, as always the food and service was amazing. However, our booth we were in didn’t have a working heat lamp which for the time of day we went it got very chilly.
Can’t wait to go back again!
Really nice tea out
Can't fault anything - the service was excellent and food beautiful
