Enjoyable experience for Sunday lunch but not for any seeking a quiet meal. Service was professional when the kitchen was at full stretch. Only criticism was the excess of salt in the squid with bone marrow and the gravy; we are not no salt fanatics but it was really too much, particularly the squid it tasted of little else.
Had an excellent meal with friends on Friday. The food was great, cocktails amazing and service outstanding. We've already booked to go again. A great meaty treat.
The meat on the 'all in' was mostly fat....felt sick afterwards. I did feedback my opinion to front of house . But I would suggest going for the prime rib which is great.
Relaxed with fantastic service! Good value overall and tasty.
It was our first time at the restaurant, but we found it a very pleasurable experience. The food was very good, but the standout was the very friendly and attentive staff. I would definitely go back again.
Can’t say a bad word about them. Food was amazing. Cooked perfectly and came out exactly how we ordered. Everyone was served exactly what was ordered, no errors or anything.
Great service and a tasty menu, all in a relaxed atmosphere. Can't ask for much more!
The food was really good and although it was pricy we knew we were getting fresh quality ingredients. My only criticism was the service, we were left alone for too long when we first got there and there was a minimal explanation of the menu as you buy the meat per 100g. We needed guidance on how much was sufficient for 1 person or for a few people to share etc.
Amazing time at Blacklock Shoreditch. Waitress was extremely attentive and the food was outstanding.
Good but not great - the trouble with London is that there are a number of places doing fancy meats, I don't think blacklock is among the best of them.
Amazing food. Only let down was our table was booked for 6.15pm and we didn’t get sat down until 6.50. We were offered a free round on the house as compensation but never actually got this.
Otherwise was great!
The hostess who greeted us as we arrived was outstanding, our table wasn't ready so were asked to sit at the bar. The bar area itself has a great vibe and feels very cool. We waited at the bar for around 20 minutes, when the hostess seated us she thanked us and told us we'd have a round of drinks on the house. The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. We shared a lovely bottle of red wine and our water glasses were filled up consistently by any member of staff that saw they were running low. When the hostess was leaving for the evening she personally came over and said goodbye and thanked us again, it was such a lovely personal touch. I can't remember her name but she made us feel very welcome and very settled, id recommend all my friends to visit. Thanks :)
I have spent months trying to get a booking at any of the Blacklock locations for a Sunday Roast and was finally able to book in for last weekend (about 6 weeks in advance). As expected, the food was delicious and has gone right to the top of my list for Sunday lunch. We started with the moorish pigs head on toast and then shared the £20 per person sharing roast which included slices of all 3 meats, yorkshires, potatoes and veg. It was a lot of food but we didn't feel too full afterwards. The lamb was definitely the standout, followed by the pork. The only downside to this place is it is VERY busy so it did feel like the waiters were rushing around just to keep everything moving. Our first waiter slammed everything down and got our drinks order wrong. Our second guy was better, offered us extra gravy but then took ages for us to pay at the end.
Beautifully cooked, high quality cuts of meat with unfussy but attentive service. Not a hugely extensive menu but everything they do, they do excellently.
The food is always fantastic very tasty very fresh and melts in your mouth it is a fantastic restaurant. One slight criticism is I took my mother for her 70th birthday and she is hard of hearing and it was extremely noisy making it hard for my mother to concentrate and enjoy the evening that is a slight slight criticism but as always Blacklock food is fantastic
Food is always great, and so reasonably priced for what you get! Service was slightly slow but not too bad.
Great steaks & chops, even better sauces and wonderful cocktails. Very reasonabley priced and definitely worth a visit.
Great food as always at Blacklock. Service was outstanding. We were offered a complimentary drink to vacate our table after almost 2.5 hours on a busy Dec Fri evening. Many restaurant would have just asked us to leave. We ended up not moving from the bar for the night as we were having such a nice time. Love this place.
Fantastic staff and delicious dishes, this chop house is red meat heaven
Food was amazing . The fiver cocktails are also very good . Overall lovely experience , polite staff and attentive. My second time coming here and the standards still stay at a high level !
Cozy and delicious food! Would have been better to be more accomodating for vegetarians. No veggie gravy or veggie roast potatoes and the Yorkshire’s were not veggie so our veggie friend just had literally vegetables! Meat options were delicious however!
Just as good as Blacklock Soho. Love the building too. So attentive and welcoming.
Great food and great service
Nice food and friendly, professional service. We got a table booked around 9:30. Unfortunately we had to wait for almost 40 min, but ate hostess apologised and kept us informed about waiting time and reason of it.
She got the nice gesture of a round of drinks while we waited. Nice touch
First time here, our table was booked for 9.00pm but weren’t sat down until 9.30... however we like an outgoing vibe and loved the music selection but at the same time too much noise. Great food and very good value for money.
First time here, recommended by our friends and they were correct the food did not disappoint! Our table was booked for 8.30pm but weren’t sat down until 9 as it was very busy, however we like an outgoing vibe and loved the music selection. A lot of the cuts had gone but we went with the lamb and a few sides. The chips and the beet with horseradish were exquisite!! Will definitely be returning
Incredible food, excellent service
Would recommend 100%
Good quality and great value
Good service, cold beer and a plate of lovely meat - can't ask for much more than that! The wine wasn't up to much though.
Great food and great service, the staff let us get in with our meal at our own leisure and even brought birthday cake!!
The Shoreditch branch was an absolute delight. I had been to the Blacklock Soho numerous times and it never disappointed but neither did the Shoreditch site. I was surprised how smooth it was considering it had only been open 7 weeks - the food, staff and service was top notch. This will be a popular spot! Will be back soon.
Fanstastic meal & outstanding service/experience .
The staff are so well trained & attentive to customers needs. Will return again very soon. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic Sunday roast.. good atmosphere and great value!
Service very patchy this time (usually excellent) with long waits trying to get waiters attention. Food excellent, but my veggie pal would really appreciate a veggie gravy option please.
SIMPLY FABULOUS- CANNOT RECOMMEND HIGLY ENOUGH!!!
BEST ROAST IN LONDON
Hands down the best roast I’ve had outside of my mum’s!
Fabulous Food, Service and Atmosphere! If you don't book here you're missing out!
Without question one of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time. We loved EVERYTHING about Blacklock, and had heard friends raving about the new Shoreditch opening, so chose it as the family 'treat' on their annual London visit. Service, bar, venue and, of course, the meat, were off-the-charts best-in-class, knocking Hawksmoor and Flat Iron into touch if you're into this style of dining. We tested out most of the menu, and were blown away by the Pigs Head and Gravy and the Kale Parmesan Salad (we're a broad church, so there really was something for everyone!) Congrats to everyone involved.
An outstanding effort all round.
This restaurant is a must! The food was amazing, especially the Pigs Head on Toast and Yorkshire Pudding (YP was on bar food menu but if you ask, you can get for a starter too), you HAVE to try the Pigs Head even if you think it might not be your thing - it will be :). I ordered a 650g Porterhouse and it was seriously good, I had chips and baby gem lettuce on the side, the baby gem was infused with cheese I think and was delicious. For desert we had white chocolate cheesecake which was just as delicious as the rest.
Only issue was there was only 3 bar staff making cocktails and given one of the selling points of the restaurant is its cocktails, the wait was often very very long. Myself and my boyfriend were kind of aiming to eat and get drunk at the same time but because of the slow cocktail service we couldn't, however our waitress realised this and could see we had to wait a long time for the drinks so she gave us money off the bill because of it, which was great customer service.
I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone (maybe not vegans!) and will be coming back ASAP. It's up there with one of my favourite London restaurants already!
Great food and very good value for money. Could do with lowering the music a bit as it was very hard to have a conversation over dinner. Literally had to shout across the table. Overall though a great establishment and a place that you’ll leave feeling full and satisfied.
