Blacklock is a modern version of the Great British chophouse. Set in an old brothel, we take the best meat in the country from the award winning farmer and butcher Philip Warren in Cornwall. We cook chops simply over our real charcoal grill with a little help from vintage Blacklock irons and serve it all up alongside cocktails that give back and wine on tap in our atmospheric subterranean chop mecca. On Sundays we serve a Sunday Roast almost as good as Mum's.

It's fair to say we have a very particular love affair with Cornwall. Philip Warren looks after the Blacklock herd on the lush Cornish fields and since day one, Eddie and his team at Harbour Brew Co. have brewed all our beers from their home in North Cornwall. Service was horrendous, we were not asked if we wanted to order drinks when we sat down. The two Rib Eyes we ordered were great but the Christmas Burger was in a burnt bun with an overcooked piece of meat in between. Nobody came and asked if we wanted desert, when we finally got it ordered we watched our coffees sit and go cold on the bar for 10 minutes and were then met with shock when we asked to cancel them. Then when we just wanted to get out of there it was impossible to get someone to bring us the bill even though we were the last ones in there. Was clear when we saw the staff sat around eating as we left that the feeling we got of not being welcome was because we were cutting into time between services. Maybe our fault for booking a late lunch, but if you can’t deliver the same level of service at 3pm I’d suggest not taking bookings for 3pm. Overall a pretty poor experience, which is a shame as I really enjoyed my visit to the Shoreditch branch.

Food was amazing! So much meat and vegetables and amazing desserts! It was quite busy and noisy for me, I prefer a quiet place. But honestly not so noisy to not enjoy the amazing food. And the staff was the nicest. Honestly overall such a great experience. Prices are fair and we are so close to city center, you really can’t ask for more!

We have eaten at Blacklock on several occasions but this was the first time for Sunday lunch, the food was very tasty but unfortunately not very hot, not a problem for me but my wife sent hers back twice, so we were a little disappointed this time.

Amazing roast- the lamb was unbelievable. But the disappointment came at the end when we’d been excited to try the fruit crumble, but were informed we couldn’t order it as the kitchen had closed (at 8:30pm?!!!). We overheard others being told the same and saw the disappointment they felt too. Left a bit of a negative impression after what had been a very nice meal up until that point.

Dependably great cooking from a deceptively simple menu - shows there's more to chops than chops! And the white chocolate cheesecake is to die for. Great service too and good buzz every night of the week.
