BLT Steak DC
I've been to countless high-end steakhouses, and in my opinion BLT is slightly overrated. My girlfriend and I both ordered the NY strip steak. It was cooked just fine, but the meat was tough. It was not worth the $55 price tag. While we were eating, the manager came over with a small gift from the chef. He stated "try this and I'll tell you what it is". So my girlfriend and I went ahead and tried it. Come to find out the dish is cow tongue. It actually tasted pretty good, and I'm very willing to try new foods. My girlfriend on the other hand wasn't very fond of it. It weirded her out. It was very nice of the manger to give us a complementary dish, but with the dish being cow tongue, he should have made that more clear, as not everyone is very keen and willing to try it. My girlfriend was not happy. I said something to the manager about it, and he was polite and understanding of the situation. After a couple minutes the chef came out. He stated "so what was wrong?", and I went ahead and explained the situation. And then he proceeded to argue, stating how it was meat. (Cow tongue is a muscle). I mentioned how I understand his point of view, but it is a muscle. He then proceeded to look at my girlfriend and stated "so was your steak good then?" in an extremely rude demeanor. Moral of the story, if you are serving someone cow tongue, you should probably state what it is, because some individuals are not going to like it, and lastly, the chef is extremely rude. Overall, if you're in DC and looking for a good steakhouse, I do not recommend BLT. I recommend The Palm DC for a good steak.
While I wasn't overly impressed with this location, the food is great, atmosphere is good, and overall it is a delicious spot to get dinner!
All you expect from a good steak house! very professional
We had a nice table near the front. Not crowded with others. Our server was excellent; a good balance of competent and funny. Our food was good—the steak was a little dry and I don’t like sauces. The seafood bouillon was good the popovers were amazing!!! We also had mushrooms, kale, and Brussels sprouts; all good. The peanut butter chocolate mousse was wonderful and carrot cake was fine. We appreciated the menu that said Happy Anniversary.
We visited DC several times while our son was doing an internship there. Each time we made it a point to return to BLT. The service and food are consistently outstanding. Our waiter Kevin was a pleasure to work with during this last visit. Ambience is quiet if you go around 6-6:30, thereafter it does get noisier. I would recommend BLT without hesitation.
One of the best filets I have eaten. Entire evening was exceptional!
As always great food and service
Great food, great service. It is a little pricey, but worth every penny.
Food was outstanding, service very unorganized! Noisy too!
Great food, great drinks and great service. One if the best birthday dinners ever.
Rib eye for both of us that ordered it was cooked properly but tough and tasteless. Very disappointing for a restaurant like this.
Food was excellent and wait staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted in the way of sauces and sides.
Superb food, excellent service and good value. In fact, one of the best places we ate whilst on our recent trip to America. Thank you!
It was my son’s birthday and they made it extremely special.
The steak is excellent. The sides are variable.
Great steaks and nice fish selections for those who don’t like beef. Sides are terrific but really too small for table sharing. Nice desserts. Good wines, but $$$$. Lovely place for a special night out with friends are family.
BLT was our of both the Bronzino and Wagyu Skirtsteak. To accommodate the order we made but had to change, we were given AMAZING onion rings, Brussels
We had a wonderful dinner Saturday night. Waiter Ricardo was very attentive and made great recommendations. Got a little noisy as the evening went on; the restaurant was packed.
Food was fantastic, service was completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. Cocktail orders were inaccurate.
Our group of 10 had settled up and were about to leave. As we leave the manager comes out and dramatically explains that they made a mistake and that they needed our cards and receipts back as they had made a mistake and had slightly undercharged us. We explained that we had already settled up and were in the process of leaving. The overcharge amount was slightly over $100 on a total tab of $1000.
The fact that a fine restaurant like this made such a scene with 10 patrons over $100 was absolutely ridiculous. They should have absorbed the mistake and sent us on our way. Instead, a large scene was made and 10 patrons left with a bad impression of the place. A real shame as the food was wonderful.
In a city with multiple choices for high end steaks, this isn’t any better than the rest. The services was spotty. We had trouble determining which person was our primary waitstaff. Popovers rather than ordinary bread is a nice touch. Desserts were average. Be prepared for one of the loudest dining rooms in DC.
Fantastic meal and service. The restaurant was fairly noisy (nosier than other BLTs we have been to). But overall the experience was fantastic. It’s pricey, but on par with high end steak houses and this is definitely at the top of my list of places to go for good steaks.
Guarantee you won’t be disappointed
Too pricey and they try and upset you on everything. If you're going to drop $100 a head before wine, there are better places for you to eat in DC.
Birthday dinner with the family. Kids loved the cheese popovers, Mac and cheese, and short ribs. Special menu for the birthday occasion which was nice.
Wine bottle list is solid but the BTG selection is pretty generic.
Overall great service and experience
Great experience as always. The steaks are second to none. I asked to be blackened and done to perfection. Service impeccable!!
We came here to celebrate before our baby is born (prob way fewer date nights in the near future!)
We had a great time! Service was great and food was delicious! We got the a5 wagyu potato cake starter with the popovers, split a Caesar salad, wagyu top tip, branzino, Mac and cheese, and potato steak fries. It was so good we ate it all!
The food came out piping hot which was perfect.
Can’t wait to come back with friends!
Food was delicious our server wasn't very attentive and they gave my glass of wine to the wrong table it sat on their table once server figured out it went to the wrong table they picked it up and placed it on ours. I think they should have brought a fresh glass of wine.
I don't ever write reviews because no-one; especially me, has time to write a 17 page critique on the asparagus. However I will this time.
I have had the fortunate opportunity to dine at many different restaurants from NY to Miami to the mid west. In my mind I keep a running total of top 5, this dinner just beat out all the rest to the number 1 spot. Not just because of the food but also the experience. I dined at BLT's arch nemesis two nights prior and let me tell you, that place was terrible, I thought did the worst experience influence this to the top spot? Nope, it really was that good.
From the second I walked in the experience was great, zero wait time as our waiter JT greeted my wife, two sons, and I. Talking to him I felt like I was with one of my old friends from the neighborhood. His personality and approach was the best, when it came to attention he was always there, unlike the other place Mastro (don't go there). The manager at BLT who I nick-named Azezam (his name was aziz) came over more than once to talk with us, we all shared stories like we were old friends. When my youngest son (11) had questions about whiskey Azezam took him aside to their bartender so that he could have all his questions answered. (wonderful)
Finally the meal JT explained in detail the different cuts of meat to my wife with such poise it was impressive. IDK if anyone heard me say to my family, relax lets enjoy this but we were not rushed, when the meal came it was timed perfect, the food was spectacular. the appetizers that came out were perfect for a start, the steak was perfect, absolutely cooked right. I even took the bone home and gnawed on it at 2 am.
for reference I have a peter luger credit card and have ate there often, BLT puts peter luger (brooklyn) to shame.
the wine that was shared at the end was delicious, and to my surprise one of my favorite whiskey was on the menu (Sinatra)
Thank you to our new friends, we will be back some day.
Love this restaurant! Food was delicious!
Fantastic food but not inexpensive. However the quality of the food was superior. Great for special occasion. Service was excellent by Ben.
Steak perfectly cooked as per usual. Waitress was outstanding. Made for an incredible dining experience.
Food was good but very meager wine list. Smallest wine list for a high-end steak restaurant I have seen ever.
Fabulous restaurant. Amazing food, you won't find a better steak dinner. Service is also wonderful.
Excellent, super, outstanding, and more to describe the service, cuisine, dessert and dining experience. Kudos to our waiter “Chris”, and thank you to the rest of the staff, everyone and everything was outstanding.
Great food with great service.
What an incredible night! This place is absolutely fantastic!! The food was divine. The wine was paired beautifully through James, the beverage director. He has impeccable taste!!
I recommend starting with the seafood tower paired with champagne. We shared the porterhouses and it was ON POINT!!!
We went for a lunch with our department. The location was right across the street from the office. We had a great time.
Always consistent and delicious. Love this place!
Exceptional summer menu and 5-star service. The entire staff wanted us to have a great time!
