It was an eventful evening because of the magnitude of the day and what was expected from the fight we went to see. But clean and pretty professional at least so we will be going back soon.
My husband and I went out to dinner with another couple the night went went to the Blue Ale House for my birthday. I have never been there before but I chose there to see the band "The Benjamins" who were supposed to go on at 10pm. We arrived at 7:45pm, I made a reservation, and had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. We sat upstairs which was so crowded it was awkward to get around the tables to sit. We were squeezed in and it was very uncomfortable. One waitress kept bumping into my friend everytime she walked by. My friend ended up saying something to her because she asked what her problem was when she saw her looking at her. Our waiter who we saw was also a bartender hardly came to the table and forgot things when he did. We ended up leaving at 10:30pm and "The Benjamins " were just going on. I was very disappointed this night ruined my birthday dinner. We will never go there again. Walking out, the security guard even said it was too crazy with too many people that he didn't know what he was going to. Never again.
Tried the brunch for the first time and wasn't too bad. Its a little pricey, especially if your not going to pig out. I have eaten there before and the food is always good. Figured I'd try the brunch. $19.00 per person and $9 for kids. For the amount we ate, was not worth it. I'd go again, but will make sure I'm real hungry!
Fun evening with friends with a great band
Great menu, food was delicious, nice craft beer list, terrific service, fun atmosphere.
It was my birthday celebration! Overall things were good. However I ate the pork chop which I have gotten several times but this time cooked differently with spicy peppers, not cherry tomatoes. It was very spicy and when discussed with server she suggested a side of sour cream as opposed to a new entree. That was disappointing.
Place was not crowded but seated by two other parties, so it felt stuffy.
It was a nice night but my customer experience was let down.
Lunch with a friend. It’s a sports bar. Nice one but still a sports bar so I didn’t expect great food. Then when the food was mediocre I wasn’t surprised or disappointed. I had the Blu burger. It was OK but unremarkable. Was cooked medium instead of the medium rare that I ordered and the toppings and side fries were sparse not generous. On a 1-10 scale this place is a 5.
Service was slow but food was good and drinks as well!
We really enjoyed our appetizers of the loaded potato wedges and chicken wings. Wasn't too impressed with the entrees- we had the bison burger and steak sandwich. Steak sandwich was overcooked at well done when I requested medium rare had to send it back because it was too tough. When it came back it was decent, but not worth the $70 check for everything.
Place was a nice place I just didn’t like the setup for watching sports.
We were sitting for 30 minutes before we were even approached by our server for drinks which took another 15 minutes. At that point we ordered our food w/ our drinks for fear of the server leaving and not coming back for another 30 minutes. She had only one other table she was waiting on at the time. In that time, 2 other tables were sat and served appetizers and drinks by another server yet we still sat w/ an empty table. The food finally came out after we'd been there for over an hour. Not once did the server come to the table to check if we needed more drinks or apologize for the wait of give us an update on our food. When the food came out, it was accompanied by the manager who did not immediately address us w/ an apology. She had an attitude because we were upset that it had taken so long. The server ended up walking away, still no apology. Even the apology we got from the manager didn't seem very sincere. The only thing the manager did right was comp our meal. We paid for our bottle of wine and that was it. Not sure I'll be going back even though the food was good - that we had to take in to go containers immediately because we had somewhere to be and only allotted 1.5 hours for our meal.
Excellent food and service! The strawberrytini was delicious
We were quite pleased with our visit to the Blu Alehouse
the selection of beers are good, a variety vs some places that have a concentration on a single style of beer. The food was good and the atmosphere enjoyable. The big tv panels were oriented and placed well for enjoying the events displayed
I went there with some friends for a birthday and the waiter I had was great but the food wasn't that good I did want to change my order to order something else but the night manager Andrea was horrible while my fiance explained to her that issue with the food she got an attitude and walked away while we were in mid-sentence as a manager myself I would first introduce myself as the manager and ask how was the food and if there was a problem apologize and begin to offer something else the manager had a friend that she was eating with a couple seats down and her friend begin to argue with a friend of mine when he let the manager know that she was rude for walking away and and being rude with us I would not return
Both of our dinners were cooked perfectly and we’re delicious. Server Matt was very courteous and efficient.
Went for brunch to watch women’s World Cup. I would do it again.
We made reservations for a large group of 8-12 people. We wanted to see a big soccer match so we checked with staff twice to make sure they would show it. They told us yes. We got there and one of their staff said yes they have it. Manager came out and told us know. We left. Horrible experience. Don’t tell us yes and last N.J. the tell us know.
1st time at the blu Ale.. Food was outstanding as was the service !!!
Enjoyed our Sunday Brunch. A nice selection at a very reasonable price. Our server, Matt, was great - personable, attentive and very knowledgeable. An overall very nice experience, we’ll definitely visit again!
Brunch was good. I went once before and it was better but this was Mother’s Day so increased price and mandatory 20% gratuity. 20% is normal for a regular meal, but for a buffet I usually do like 12-15%. Mother’s Day not as good as first time- food not as good. I guess it was packed so I understand. Would recommend for regular Sunday- not as good for holidays.
Went to Subdue buffet brunch. Great food and wide selection of options.
Only negative was very loud.
We previously visited Blu Ale a couple of nights before we made the reservation for Easter Sunday brunch. We were given the menu and you had many items that we were all interested in eating on that holiday brunch. We came back and were seated at our time slot, the food was phenomenal. It was plenty to choose from and the food was delicious. Our server was the sweetest server we could’ve ever imagined. And the bottomless Mamosa’s were the ticket, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The next time that I’m in New Jersey Blu Ale I will be visiting you again.
The old Shannon Rose....Very nice place for dinner and watching sports. Food & drinks are good. The upstairs dance floor bar area is scary. Went up there to get a drink maybe 10 people at the most was up there. While only 5 of them were dancing the whole floor was shaking like it would collapse at any moment. 😨😳😱 Love the place but there's definitely a safety concern for the dance floor and the restaurant seating underneath it.
Food was good but was very overpriced for the quantity and quality. Ordered a filet mignon. It only came with mashed potatos. No vegetable of any kind, nor did the server offer sides or anything else. Since when do entrees not include vegetables? It literally was a 6 oz filet and a small mound of mashed potatos on a large plate. No decorations, no sauces, nothing to make it special. There were no specials or other suggestions from the server. Cocktails were very good; wine selection not so great. I would not go out of my way to dine here. Bar area was nice with a large screen tv. Stick to the bar.
Over-priced bar food, in a bar environment. Maybe meet up for a drink at the bar, but for the cost of the meal, go somewhere where the food is worth it.
Very good food and reasonable. Excellent service. Those who wants to sit in the bar has a huge area with large screen TV and those wants privacy are also taken care.
Service was very slow. Not all her fault as I think they were short handed and manager was apologetic
We reserved a High Top and the Hostess direct us to a diferente seat.
My salad wich I added Salmon did not meet my expectations.
My husband ordered Lamb and He wasn’t very impressed with the taste.
We tried some of the new menu items that were recommended. Great recommendations! Can’t wait to get back there soon to try other new things!
A very comfortable dining experience. The food and service was great..
Sunday brunch was totally amazing. Buffet style with craving station, made to order omelets and other lunch items like pasta, fish etc. Great dessert table. Overall Food is delicious. Hidden Gem in the neighborhood .
Best Brunch find in a long time!! Will definitely be back. The prime rib was incredible!!! the only thing that needed help was the dessert area. Very sparse. Maybe something hot like an apple cobbler or a bread pudding. Although he desserts were an afterthought, ALL of the food entries were incredible!!
Used OpenTable to book a hightop table for two. I received the email confirmation from OpenTable. When we arrived there were no tables available and I was told that they were not honoring the reservation that I was showing them on my phone. Later, I received an email from OpenTable stating that I was a "No Show" while I was still standing at the bar! I showed the "No Show" email to the manager as well. Point is, if you can't honor a reservation do not send an email with a confirmation and I will make other arrangements. To date, neither Blue Alehouse or OpenTable have contacted me to offer an consolation for ruining my date.
Amazing service and food
This is my cousin’s bridal / going away party.
VERY LOUD with the country music upstairs and the band setting up downstairs...But That will not deter us from the best piece of prime rib anywhere in Jersey, although we may switch to Tuesday to avoid the noise.. feels like home with a great wait staff and amazing food. I heard the have have a new menu coming out soon. Can’t wait to try new things!!
We come to NJ three times a year and always stop by blu for dinner. Usually great service and food. Had two issues this time, first was I ordered a chicken quesadilla with no peppers and a LOT of peppers were in the quesadilla when it arrived. The server asked if I wanted a new one, but I didn't want to wait while my husband ate his food so I decided to pick the peppers out. Second, I ordered a piece of pie to go and when I got back to my hotel realized utensils were not included, so I had to pick up with my hands to eat. These are reasons why no 5 stars were given this trip.
Very nice evening. Sweet, attentive service and delicious food. Looks like a great place to watch sports too.
There is really nothing great to say about this place. If feels like a modern cafeteria. Very noisy. Acceptable food. You don’t get a sense at any of the wait staff has been well trained. Definitely would not go back.
Food was okay...both my friend and I felt it was a bit salty. The beer I had was great, our hostess was good and I enjoyed selecting off of a gluten free menu. The music/noise level made it hard to have a conversation without yelling...ambience is more suitable for “hanging out” versus conversation.
Probably will not return.
