The Blue LLama Jazz Club is a complete experience. You can choose to stay fully focused on the music as the seating is professionally planned with a perfect view of the performers. Or you can choose to make your visit about sampling one creative delicacy after another. The unique tasting menu makes for a social experience in dining with shared plates. This leads to a marvelous evening of companionship. The waitstaff participates fully in your experience - whether it is about savoring the sound of music or the flavors of the food. It's all good at The Blue LLama.

The music was so loud that conversation was impossible. We had listened to the pianist on youtube playing a lovely set. At the Blue Llama she was so amplified it was painful. The food was good but the ambiance was toxic. I'd only go if you like your music LOUD LOUD LOUD. If there are times when there is no music, the food is worth trying. Otherwise, stay home.
Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed the food. It's unfortunate that even after the manager was able to move you to a different table, the music was still too loud. Brunch can be more boisterous, and the band was in the holiday spirit that day, but we always want you to enjoy your time with us. We are truly sorry. We would love to have you back and would be happy to go through the calendar with you to find a day when the music is more subtle and hopefully to your liking.

Great music in a beautiful, cozy setting. Attentive service. The gourmet food is really overpriced, even for Ann Arbor, but I appreciate the fact that you can just have a drink with the music and not get dinner.

We always go for the music and have a great time. The cocktails are wonderful and the wine selection is always great. The chef is amazing and it’s hard to resist having at least an appetizer and dessert! But far exceeding any of the previous is the exciting groove of jazz music that reverberates into your soul.

Music can be quite loud if you're seated close to the band! Also, the food is excellent, but make sure to clarify with your server how big the assorted small plates are because some are much smaller or larger than you might be expecting!

Brunch was excellent. We did the chefs tasting menu which was great. Lots of interesting things, Favorites were Southern Eggs Benedict and the French Toast. Music was great., A really nice venue for Jazz.

Absolutely amazing! Loved it and will definitely be back. The only negative was the extremely small portions. The food was excellent but the portions were more than half the size of what any other restaurant would serve.

The Blue LLama continues to offer unsurpassed value. Since its opening earlier this year, I have visited multiple times and with each occasion, have been the beneficiary of superb music and equally memorable meals. For some time, Ann Arbor has truly been in need of a sophisticated live Jazz bistro, and Blue LLama absolutely delivers. Perhaps equally important as the music and food is the venue itself. It's 100% in the style of the hippest and upscale Manhattan haunts, while being sufficiently compact that every table is the "best table in the house." If you love great food and exceptional live music, this place is for you. More importantly, if you're luck enough to visit on a night when the Blue LLama's musical director, Dave Sharp, is gigging with his own band, you are indeed in for a special treat. I'd actually rate this place six stars, but the OpenTable system only lets me max out at five.

A very nice experience. We went for brunch and the French Toast with cream anglais and raspberry sauce was excellent. Lovely venue, fun live music, good service. We will definitely recommend to our friends.

First time at this Jazz Club since my wife and I were looking for something more lively than simply dinner. The club and restaurant exceeded our expectations, which had already been heightened by a good recommendation from a trusted foodie.
Firstly, the music was outstanding, from all the performer, but especially from a first rate Jazz band from New Orleans, with a guest appearance by John Boutte - whose voice is truly wonderful.
The food is french cajun inspired, and is meant to be shared. Trust me when I say that I only begrudgingly shared mine with my wife.
Check it out, and done worry if you end up sitting in a table close to the stage - it was really not too loud - the sound system is nicely balanced.

The food was excellent as always and the service was outstanding. The quartet played three sets and we listened to all three. No pressure to try and turn the table over. Great music. This was our second time going and it did not disappoint. We will be back next month.

Perfect ambiance for a date night. We went there to celebrate my husbands birthday and we loved it.
The food was a bit pricey but superb. It really helped that we weren’t really hungry because it’s more small plates and tapas style meant to share. We had the scallops, whitefish and asparagus... the scallops were a highlight for me.
The waitstaff was friendly and gave us some great recommendations. The kitchen was accommodating of our food restrictions. The entertainment just made everything come together so well. Would absolutely go back for another special night out!

We ordered the steak & eggs, and chicken & waffles on the recommendation of our exuberant server. I literally said wow upon taking the first bite. The cold brew cocktail was delicious and not too strong. Great experience in every way. We loved the food and the music and will definitely be back!

We ordered 3 small plates, a 'medium' plate, and 5 drinks. The meal cost more at blue llama than a dinner we had for 12 people the next night at another restaurant. The quality of the food is not really great and the value is awful.

Perhaps you'd find more value from our Chef's Improvisation menu during your next visit. Our cuisine is priced based on the high quality ingredients that have been sourced locally and internationally. For example, our Wagyu Sirloin is more expensive than other plates because it contains the highest quality of beef on the market. I'll share your comments with my team.
Our waiter was a little condescending and not very warm. The menu was a bit confusing - they call it tapas style, but many of the items are $30+ which doesn't seem to fit with tapas. We weren't sure whether those were meant to be purchased a single entree, or whether they were just really REALLY expensive tapas (not sure if the size of them would be enough to satisfy someone if purchased alone?) In the end we gave up trying to guess (our waiter wasn't super helpful) and went with the chef's tasting menu, which I have to admit was really great. Fun trying lots of different things, and for the amount of food you get the price was reasonable. Great, unique flavors. The live music was really fun - it was the main reason we went. Overall a good experience with just a few blips.

I love the Blue Llama! As a retired person with a limited income and a passion for jazz, this place offers high quality music making every day of the week. Not only is the music, whether performed by local musicians or talent from out of town, top notch - the setting makes me feel like I'm in NYC or on a getaway jazz cruise.
Whatever I want to eat or drink while I listen - a glass of wine, a drink and a snack, or a superb meal - I can get it here, delivered by a server who makes me feel like I'm paying a lot more than I am. The "suggested entertainment fee", which allows me to choose to support the musicians and the venue, is a great system. I hope it's working - because I want the Blue Llama to be around for a long time!
