It has been years since I visited Bluebird, so I was apprehensive that the restaurant might not live up to my memory. However, it exceeded my expectations. I went on a Friday evening with a friend, whom I hadn't seen in a very long time. We were left to talk and drink until the end of the service (we were there for 5 hours!) and were not hurried along like some other London restaurants, that are quick to remind you of their 2 hour table turn-around. The service was attentive from start to finish. The food was delicious and the Opentable set menu option was good value. The restaurant is well designed, making each table feel somewhat secluded. The restaurant area is separate to the bar lounge area where you can continue to drink and party after your meal. It's a great late night spot if you fancy post dinner drinks. Would definitely recommend this for a date or friends get-together
The food was lovely but customer service was poor. We had drinks outside first and had to ask to take the remainder of the wine upstairs to the restaurant. I carried it myself instead of the restaurant offering to do so. Despite having told the restaurant it was two of our party’s birthdays, they forgot and I had to remind them. They eventually brought out one plate so they had to share! Service was poor throughout and I felt very rushed as if they were desperate to have the table back quickly. The food was fine and glad we ate from the set menu as the main meals are very expensive. I won’t be back again.
This is the first time I have not given Bluebird five stars after almost 30 years of enjoying wonderful lunches and evenings in what is arguably for me the best restaurant in town. This time three issues let it down.
Firstly the lift was out of order so anyone requiring wheelchair access or difficulty with stairs would have had to forgo their lunch.
Secondly downstairs they were carrying out building works so the sound of a pneumatic drilled killed off the atmosphere and was hugely annoying. It took a complaint from me for the manager to appear and offer his apologies with a glass of wine each but whilst that was appreciated such intrusive drilling should not be permitted during opening hours.
Finally the main course vegetarian dish of pearl barley which can only be described as a bowl of unsweetened porridge. Other than that everything was up to its usual high standard.
I hope by the next time we visit, the lift will be working, the drilling will have stopped and hopefully the pearl barley main course will be taken off the menu.
Great service and ambiance!!
This is an excellent restaurant. The food, presentation, ambiance and service are all first rate. Bit on the pricey side, but worth it.
Very disappointing... Average food but exceptionally priced and small portions to boot. Uninspiring decor, not a patch on what this much loved restaurant of once cult status used to be. I had to Google whether Conran still owned it, I was very surprised to learn that he does...
I will not be returning any time soon..
Lovely atmosphere and decor. Service was ok, main dishes arrived about 5 minutes apart which is not great, waiter didn't prompt for sides so we forgot to order them. Pavlova desert wasn't nice at all, full of cream and huge meringue which is not easy to split into smaller bits when it's swimming in cream and ice cream.. probably the worst pavlova I have ever had.
Very nice touch to give us a little sweet treat at the end as we celebrated out anniversary.
Receipt had an error which was promptly corrected once pointed out.
Amazing!!!! Great atmosphere, food, and service.
Lovely dinner and cocktails in Bluebird - expected it to be busier on a Sunday evening so atmosphere wasn't as good as expected - but still a great experience!
Excellent restaurant with beautiful atmosphere. Perfect for babies and toddlers
This was our first visit to the Bluebird and we were pleasantly surprised at the lively atmosphere and great service and above all the superb food.
Some waiters were either not properly trained or were simply uncaring. Not much of an apology when one of them spilled our drinks/cocktails and ruined my dress and my daughter’s shoes. Small consolation, another waiter said they would not be charging us for our cocktails.
When we were eventually sitted at our table, the food and drinks were good, but they managed to spoil the evening yet again by bringing a plate with a candle decorated with the words Happy Birthday when 2 members of my party were not at the table and before the dessert menus were brought to to us.
As we live locally we have been to Bluebird either upstairs or downstairs numerous times before but I will think twice about going back again. Shame!
Wonderful dinner. Set menù very convenient as we enjoyed a full sea food meal with glass of wine included for30£
GREAT AMBIENCE AND STAFFF WERE ATTENTIVE AND FRIENDLY
Perfect for Sunday lunch / brunch - relaxed , good food and attentive service in lovely airy comfortable setting - loved it. Keep up the good service!
Took my niece here for her 18th birthday.
The server was wonderful and after hearing me say ‘happy birthday’, bought a slice of cake with a candle at the end of the meal - unprompted! Very impressed.
I’ve not been to the Bluebird for a good few years because it became so bad for too long - but it’s picked itself back up and delivered a delicious meal in lovely surroundings. Thank you!
We had a wonderful meal after the Chelsea flower show. It was my wife's birthday and she really enjoyed it. They accommodated her father in his wheelchair with no bother and were very helpful. It is always a great atmosphere at Bluebird and we found the food had returned to its old, high standard.
Our first time to the restaurant and decided to visit prior to going to the flower show. The place is amazing, lovely ambience upstairs and the waiter, dan, was brilliant excellent service. As for the food and wine absolutely delicious, we had the shoulder of lamp to share and the house white and can’t fault either. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others, lovely experience xx
Excellent service and great atmosphere for the royal wedding!!
The restaurant is great but the noise level to high after 10pm.
If you want chicken... you’re more likely to get a better meal for 1/3 of the price at Nando’s. Full of bones.. was more like a thigh than a breast. Originally asked for chateaubriand but said no more left (7.30 booking) and that instead we could have two steaks for the increased price. When we arrived we were early so were told to take a seat at the bar, our 7.30 table booking time came and went and no one came from us - in the end we had to go and ask at reception about our table. Waiters kept duplicating role and constantly asking how everything was, but not appearing to pay much attention. Brought wrong wine, then looked at us as if it was our fault. Complained at the end, told us they receive lots of great reviews and that ‘at least the service was good’ as he continued to make jokes. I’m not shy of paying money for good food, but we paid £150 pounds for three chicken thighs, a portion of chips and a portion of broccoli, 5 drinks (12 for a pimms is a little excessive) and two Eton mess and a coffee. Next time I’ll go to Nando’s for the same - won’t return here or recommend it to anyone.
We had guests in town from New York and San Fran. Bluebird is always a winner.
Fabulous weekday lunch. Excellent service.
They were super attentive, very pleased .
Lovely experience! The cod was my absolute favourite and the fact that I was dining on my own, as I had just arrived from Australia, wasn't made uncomfortable. The staff were just wonderful. I can't wait to come back in summer!
The restaurant has wonderful decor and the staff were very attentive. The food was pleasant and well prepared, but more suited to a Sunday lunch than the brunch that we had been anticipating. Overall, a very nice experience.
Great lunch with friends. The food was amazing - particularly the lamb. Would highly recommend
Lovely decor, impeccable service - not disappointed.
Sunday evening in restaurants can be a bit hit and miss but not at the Bluebird. The service was friendly from the girl at the desk to the waiting staff. The menu is varied with interesting veggie options and a good wine list with 500ml carafes on offer. The food was delicious and the triple cooked chips were worth the journey alone. Looking forward to going back soon.
The food was average, the time for the food to reach our table was too long and the cleanliness of the restaurant was horrendous- I asked to changed my glass 3 times and it was still dirty with a bad smell, the plates stunk as well.
The servers were very pushy as well.
I wouldn’t go back again
exquisite meal & wine / lovely interior ambiance
service was overbearing
We had an excellent meal, service was great and it was very reasonable price - cannot wait to come back again soon.
Great food and good service That was a good selection on the menu the selection of wine was also good
Had booked a table to sit outside but was told bookings were only for the restaurant upstairs. So we were sent upstairs, as there was an hour and a half waiting for the seats outside. Was looking forward to sitting outside in the sun and have a quick bite not a proper sit down dinner.
A great night! Service was second to none and food was excellent!
Classy place for brunch and the restaurant is well decorated with plants. Food is good but not impressive. Service is a bit slow.
The overall experience was super. Only one minor draw back was the upselling by the waiter. We ate from the fixed £25 for 2 courses with a glass of wine menu which is great value. We will certainly return again.
Excellent service, very nice food
Very good experience.
