Bluespoon - Andaz Hotel
In a quirky Marcel Wanders-designed setting on the canals, Bluespoon Restaurant takes the stiffness out of traditional fine dining, adding a light playful touch to a special dining experience in which every seasonal plate is a fresh and colourful work of art. No compromises are made on the quality of the food however, as the menu presents creative European dishes celebrating the best of Dutch ingredients with a unique modern twist. Led by Executive Chef Sander Bierenbroodspot, the Bluespoon team, a team from around the world but firmly rooted in Dutch soil, hope to delight, be it with an interesting story, a forgotten classic, a unique cocktail pairing, or an ingredient you might never have tried.
The waiter was very slow despite the fact that we were almost the only ones in the restaurant. And she forgot some of our order. The salad was crunchy like it had had sand or soil in it. I gave up eating it. The chicked and the fries were very good.
We have visited Andaz Hotel before for cocktails and had a great time at the bar as we did on this visit too. Because of our experience in the bar we decided to eat in the restaurant as well this visit. We were very much looking forward to the evening and having the tasting menu with wine pairing. We were the only people in the restaurant which probably didn’t help with the ambiance but the service was lacking in any enthusiasm, the sommelier seemed thoroughly bored with having to explain anything, maybe this was because he is starting his own business in a few weeks? The food was expensive and very underwhelming, really not worth the cost, in particular the Wagyu beef was actually quite horrible. Overall sadly we were very disappointed, we won’t be coming back or recommending.
Ambience is really wonderful, including the open kitchen without any glasses. The food is very good but not amazing. Our coffees came cold, even with the restaurant not full. Worth a visit
The food is good, artistically presented, but over priced.
I make it an absolute point to eat here every time I am in Amsterdam for business. It is a pleasure to dine here. The wait staff is knowledgeable and pleasant. The food is always special, elegantly presented, and innovative.
Above and beyond all expectations. Never had a brunch like this before, and I probably never will again. From the unlimited cava to the perfect gnocchi to the sweet - oh, so sweet! - end, everything went as smooth as a well-brewed and expertly shaped cappuccino (not unlike the one that came at the very end. We left overwhelmed and slightly overweight. Well done, all involved.
We were only in Amsterdam for a couple of days but wanted to eat somewhere special for my birthday. This place did not let us down. The restaurant was just what we were after, charming and relaxed. We had booked the Ed Sheeran menu but soon changed to the Vegetarian 5 course menu. Every dish was absolutely delicious and there was plenty in between, amuse bouche, local bread and brioche etc! Highly recommend! It was also nice how we were not made to feel rushed... the table was ours for the evening and the courses had a nice amount of time between each to allow the evening to be extended. Would definitely come again.
Honestly, it was very average in terms of food and ambiance. I don’t understand all the 5 star reviews. The service was great, but that was it.
We had a fantastic dinner here on our first night back in Amsterdam. We liked it so much that we ate our next two breakfasts there as well. I think we’ll be back when next in Amsterdam, although we live halfway around the world.
Great moment in a good atmosphere!
Special thanks to the very professional and passionate wine waiter!
Very nice hotel, well located on the prinsengracht
Food, wine, and service were all quite excellent.
However, the 5-course tasting menu with paired wine took over 3 hours to complete....far too much time waiting between courses....
There was a very loud and boisterous group at a large table in a garden-enclosed alcove. There should be a wall with a door to separate this area from the main dining room--to control this problem.
We had the 4 course option (lack of time)- everything we had inc in between courses- amuse bouche was divine !!!
We complained about the meat from maincourse. They offerred us a coffee and dessert after we finished our dessert from the menu. So, 2 dessert is to much. A inappropriat solution.
Service is okay, but could be better. Came to ask twice etc.....
It was expecting to have a brunch buffet but there were only one main course with other small tastings.
Food of middle level.
We went as a family with a 4 and 2 year old and we had a fantastic time. The staff we amazing with the children and went above and beyond to help us.
We were disappointed that the Sunday brunch buffet was no longer on offer as this had been amazing previously, but the current menu did not disappoint. Thank you for a lovely visit
It was our first time at Bluespoon. We celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday with Mad Hatters brunch and it was very good. I like the concept and the food was delicious from the gazpacho, to main course, cheese platter to desserts and the unlimited cava, coffee and tea. The waitress is super amazing, she explained everything for us! I also get in touch with two customer service prior to going there because I arranged for a additional cake to be served for his birthday and it was fantastic! We really enjoyed the brunch ✅❤️😃
Fantastic culinary experience in beautiful surroundings, with great service. We really enjoyed our time and would highly recommend this restaurant!
good food, good drinks and good times ;-)
would for sure recommend this place to friends.
It was a very cool experience, what me and my friend was missing was a bit louder music and maby a bit more usage of the theme, like uniforms and such things, maybe it could have been a bit more creative and fun.
The service was outstanding!
We had the 6 course with wine, very good meal.
The venue is beautiful and there is a beautiful garden at thr back!
My wife and I had a really enjoyable evening at Bluespoon. We specially requested a table close to the kitchen so that we could easily see at close quarters the working of the chef and kitchen staff. We were rewarded with a completely engaging experience! The food was absolutely wonderful - perfectly presented and full of imagination. This is a modern restaurant, well designed with tables spaced not too close to other diners, exceptional and attentive staff who do really CARE. If we lived in Amsterdam and not in the UK we would keep returning.
Brunch was a surprise set up......walking buffet expecting rest ok small portions but overall very good
The restaurant is gorgeous, with an open kitchen!
The service was unacceptable. We waited over an hour to get our first course from a 6 course tasting menus. Other diners who came in after us received their meals way before us. When asked what was going on our server said he would look into it and offered us more wine. When we asked again our server apologized and said he would get right on it. We canceled the rest of our meal. The restaurant was not busy... no explanation was given for the very poor service. We paid our check and left. The server was very nice, but didn’t make up for the unacceptable dining experience. We were looking forward to a fine dining experience on our last night in Amsterdam. That was not the case. Very disappointing.
One of the most original and satisfying meals (not only a brunch) that we've ever had! The presentation and taste combinations were truly unique and outstanding. Service was top-notch and the atmosphere was splendid.
Absolutely Awesome Easter Sunday Brunch!! THANK YOU. Amazing food. Attentive staff. Tasty Cava. Beautiful location. And best of all the kids absolutely loved the Egg Hunt in the garden and all the activities. Thank you again to Bogdana and all her fantastic passionate team for a wonderful day. Look forward to seeing you next year! Cheers! Chris and family.
Great food ruined by slow service and no pace of dining. Dishes would arrive one after another or with an exceptional delay between courses. Shame really as food was very good .
A wonderful experience! If you are in Amsterdam do not miss this restaurant.
super delicious food,
dangerously good cocktails
The food was excellent and the staff was well-informed and helpful at every step. The prix fixed menu was interesting and presented new flavors. There is an unprinted vegetarian menu. Everything was beautifully plated; however you need to be prepared for a 2 to 3 hour leisurely dining experience, not a quick meal.
There are a lot of salty flavors, even in the savory desserts. I don't know enough about Dutch cuisine to know if this is common, but be prepared for -- as an example --salted apples in the dessert.
This is definitely a place to visit multiple times. The 4 course menu is a good value for the experience.
Even turning up as a vegetarian and having the set menu.
This place is fantastic! It’s in the Andaz Hyatt Hotel. I’ve been to the French Laundry owned by Thomas Keller and this place is at that level for one-third the price. The attention to detail was fantastic. The flavor combinations were culinary genius. It’s a prefix menu. My husband had the seafood and I had the vegetarian. They brought out bites of starters that were presented with attention to detail. My husband had mussels and I had a beet dish. Wow! Hubby’s main course was halibut mine was white asparagus and mushrooms. The bread plate was beautiful too and dessert was incredible. Definitely make a reservation. The hotel has a wonderful bar with lounge seating looking out to the canal. The perfect place to have a after dinner drink.
Lovely evening as usual at this excellent restaurant! Service just briljant & an amazing sommellier who knows exactly what she is talking about, fabulous food & wine pairings!! See you soon... Ciao
Very good service. Good food. Poor atmosphere
Incredible experience. Every bite was exceptional.
This hidden gem of a place is tucked away in a typical Amsterdam street by a canal and once you step inside you leave behind the cobbled streets and enter a calm oasis of creativity. The reception has a high ceiling with an innovative light system and this opens out onto an open kitchen and dining area...soon you realise every corner has some surprising and entertaining art and you simply have to photograph it. The chef's creations are no less artistic and in keeping with their surrounds, but definitely not form over function as the artistic beauty of the presentation was equalled by the flavour. What could have been simple dishes of Mussels and Halibut were elevated by the colourful presentation with good use of micro herbs and edible flowers. The Wine list enabled us to choose a local wine from Zeeland which complimented our meal perfectly. Staff too, couldn't have been more accommodating, recognising our need for a quiet corner and also that we had a deadline on our exploration of Amsterdam. Al-in-all...five stars!
Really nice brunch but for the price they should be a little flexible when it comes to a small change in the main course.
Very nice restaurant. Quiet, good service and excellent value for money. The menu with the wine paring is perfect.
