Boadicea Bar & Restaurant
After arriving at Boadicea we discovered that the restaurant is no longer open and has been closed due to foreclosure. Definitely a bit of a shock which made mother's day more eventful as we had to manically phone around to see what else was available. Disappointing
You should remove this from your booking service as it is closed. !
It had a repossession order on it and no body could be bothered to let me know
The restaurant has been closed until further notice due to to an ongoing dispute in court. Very annoyed that we arrived for our booking time only to find the whole place shut and then had to find another restaurant last minute.
After looking into why it’s closed the owner has stated that they have plans to reopen in the future, the least the owner could do is close off the online table booking system so potential customers aren’t booking a closed restaurant!
I don't know whether it was the booking apps fault or the restaurant, but I booked a table for 2 for my girlfriend and myself, we live quite far apart due to work so don't see each other as often as we used to so we thought we would have a romantic meal here for valentines on the 15th. Taxi pulled up outside and it was blacked out, shut, no sign of life. Not been here before and we were pretty excited, not pointing any fingers but when a reservation gets confirmed you'd think the place would be open. Ended up in prezzo and got sat beside a table of 20 instead. Gutted.
Not open and wasn't told about this, luckily saw the article in the local paper about the closure.
It has been repossessed. Don’t book!
It's closed down!!! Where not even notified so. Had traveled quite a distance for a special occasion, just to find a repossession notice on the door. Not happy!!!
Cancelled my reservation with less than 24 hour notice with no apology.
I would recommend only for drinks.
The food was shocking, we arrived at 7.30 to be told pretty much the whole menu had run out because of busy lunch service...
I am newly pescatarian but the only 2 dishes suitable were not available.
Nice atmosphere though.
We didn’t get to eat anything as they didn’t have anything left apart from burgers at 3.30 on a Sunday afternoon. We left and went somewhere else
for the couple of times visited been excellent food and great access for parking
We sat down at our allotted time of 20:30pm and at 20 :50 we were about to leave as nobody had bothered to come and take our order and we witnessed the manager sitting chatting for 15 of those 20 minutes.
Once we made our order we were then told that one of the mains was no longer available.
The food arrived at 21;20 and the starter was OK.
The main came out at 21:40 and the alternative choice of Belly Pork was cold and burnt. The other main, Lamb Shank, was tough and fatty and we couldn't get it off the bone.
We called for the manager and she confirmed by touch that the food was cold. By this time it was too late to be ordering another main.
We got the bill and the manager stated that she had removed the mains.
My partner had 3 Bailey's and I later discovered on my receipt that they charged us for 6 Bailey's.
This was a birthday meal and it quite frankly ruined the evening.
This was our first and last visit to this establishment.
It was a disappointing visit. We booked using opentable but when we arrived we had to wait half an hour for a table, when there were lots of vacant tables available. We seemed to be forgotten about after we had arrived and had to chase up when our table would be available. The food was good quality. One meal was originally made incorrectly, which meant that the other persons meal came much earlier than the other one. By the end of the visit we just wanted to get out quickly. It was a shame as it is a lovely venue. The ambience was lovely, and the live music was very good.
Food was great, service poor. We were there at 19:20 table booked for 19:30. At 20:00 still no service, waitresses were serving the table that had just sat down. Not happy, as then told were not all sitting at the table yet?? People at our table were getting drinks at the bar as were fed up of waiting!! We advised we had been waiting and weee basically lied too!! Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant due to poor service.
Was seated but no one came to take our drinks order so we ordered at the bar.
Took a while for food order to be taken but the food arrived so quickly afterwards.
The risotto is far too cheesy! Cant taste the mushroom flavour at all.
Good dj with old school songs that was right up my street. Need a dance floor area really, didnt really know where me and friends could have a boogy!
First time there for the eve and cant wait to return.
P.s. you need to update ya menu online. I wanted the fish and chips even before the night but was told i couldnt have it because of the new menu.
I booked a table for 10 , it was my wife’s birthday meal but also a great time to get all our good friends all in one place . The complete package was great , clean toilets clean outside seating for us “ dirty “ smokers lol . Food was great drinks were as they should and the cocktails is a must . We all had a great experience but to be honest we have been several times in the last and would recommend it to anyone ! Thank you for a great night
Very noisy food was good and service was better at the table but the bar just took as to the table and didn't ask us for a drink order it was nice to be in a busy environment but last time I ate at night here we had a table downstairs which was quieter
I visited this restaurant with my family for my mum's birthday. The service was terrible, my brothers starter had a hair in it, half the dinners came out and then about 10 minutes later the other dinners came out; when asked why, the waitress couldn't answer and just kept asking if anyone wanted sauces when only half of us had food, the food portions were completely different in each meal so some people were left still feeling hungry. We all left feeling very disappointed! That night I woke up in the middle of the night being sick and had a very upset stomach; I hadn't eaten anything else that day. Two other members of my family also felt sick too. Overall, I would say we had a terrible evening which was meant to be a celebration for my mums birthday. I don't think any of us will be returning.
It was quiet the day we went - Sunday. Service was very good - our waitress had a great personality and attitude. The only downside was there was only one choice of meat for the Sunday roast. The food the 3 of us ate was very nice and the puds delicious.
Nice design inside. Food and bar area separate. We were only two to order food, there was no one else to have food before us, but to 40 mins for mains to come out. The food looked lovely and me ad my wife both thought our food was amazing. I waited after asking for another drink to have with meal and ate 80% of my meal before it turned up. I’m not sure how they would cover when busier. But I can still taste my steak now.
Fabulous food, drinks and atmosphere.
Had a lovely afternoon here on bankhol Sunday it was quiet but food service were excellent
Food was excellent, but there was no draught beer and no chosen wine available. Service was friendly and food arrived at good intervals.
Service was a bit slow but fabulous food so worth it
We visited on Saturday 28th July, we waited 15 minutes before anyone even took our drinks order. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and it didn’t taste of anything so I complained and they made me another drink which was better after confusion about why I complained and another waitress had to come over to clarify she’d taken the right order to begin with. They had run out of the 2 things on the menu which we wanted so had to pick something else. The food was okay but not amazing, the desert was definitely the best part, I had the sticky toffee pudding. The service was terrible, nobody seemed to know what they were doing and it took another 30 minutes for us to have our table cleared and the bill brought over to which they still charged for the daiquiri, I paid as I just wanted to leave and didn’t want to wait another 15-20 mins for someone else to come over.
met up with friends on a Monday evening 2 4 1 cocktails really nice lots of choice
had the duck and the lamb both dishes were delicious as was the chicken Caesar salad
service was a bit slow not sure why as it wasn't busy but didn't bother us that much as we were drinking and chatting
nice venue good menu
Booked this for my birthday as it looked really nice. They had a live singer in which blew the roof. Neither of us could hear each other so pretty much had to shout at each other or just sit here in silence. From the off we were left waiting to order drinks at least and then left for ages until we could order food. I had to ask 4 times if me drink was coming. I personally wouldn’t be going back.
Booked last minute on a Friday for date night with my partner. Food was amazing! Cocktails were so nice. Will definitely be back!
Booking was taken without any issues, however on arrival was told the kitchen would usually close at the time of our booking, but they would stay open on a limited menu. All food including deserts asked to be ordered at the same time, and no lagers on tap as the pipes had been cleared. Made to feel reasonably unwanted, only plus was that the food we did get was of good quality and good price, but won’t be rushing back.
Very poor, waitress was unsure what a meals contained.
Beef was just a lump of fat! When complained was offered a replacement but didn’t take both meals away to come back out together so we didn’t eat together, was then offered free puddings as a gesture, manager then went on to say there was nothing wrong with meat .... big mistake !
After hearing such positive things I came away disappointed. We were sat quite quickly but straightaway noticed the volume in there....our quiet date night wasn’t going to happen. It was 7pm on a Saturday evening and there were a few ‘merry’ people in the bar area who wanted to be heard. I wasn’t impressed by the choice of food on the menu either, it was very minimal. However when our food arrived it was cooked beautifully. The quality of food cannot be questioned. We didn’t have a starter or dessert as there was really not much to pick from. The food was reasonably priced although I’ve had equally as good food for less. This would be a lovely place if they decided if it was a bar or restaurant and if the staff were more organised ( we had 3 people see to us)..we may aswell have been eating in the middle of Yates. I won’t be going back which is a shame as the food we did have was lovely
Was there for my sons 18th I asked for him s birthday cake to brought out we sat and waited 20 mins I had to go up the bar to find what's happened to be told I didn’t bring a cake after a few words with the waitress she went off to look for it 10 mins later she found it I had no Apology and she just st walked off didn’t give a knife to cut it or any plates she was very rude and for that reason I will never return
Our 2nd time for visiting, we will be back for a 3rd. Everybody is helpful, friendly and the food is really Good. Our trainee Guide Dog came along as before, she too was looked after and respected, for the work she will eventually take on in being a Qualified Guide Dog. Thankyou
Excellent cocktails French martini a must try, met with friends and had food and drinks and felt we had a really excellent service, Nathan was exceptional as a waiter and was friendly and relaxed thank you
This place was a great find. The waiter that we had was Ace, made our night quite amusing due to his humour and welcoming vibe.
The food we ordered was incredible! The Chef is most definitely gifted with his cooking skills!
I’d advise to have the pork terrine for starters and either the short rib beef or the duck for the main. You shouldn’t be disappointed.
The only downfall to this place is that it’s a bit away from town but it’s only a short taxi ride.
Food was lush, cocktails were awesome. Bar staff weren't particularly happy or friendly though.
Had a very lovely relaxing afternoon sat outside . The food was good excellent and the staff were really lovely . Would definitely advise anyone to go
We went here for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The ambience is a bit more party than special occasion however the staff - particularly Christina and Nathan - made sure we were really well looked after. They’d just introduced a brilliant new menu that they even asked us for feedback on. Only thing: take cash, as there isn’t facility to leave tips on the card machine!
We've been here more than once and are going to keep coming back. The food is always excellent and all made in house. Good range of cocktails made to order as you would expect.
One point. This place is great for dates but of a weekend the music is cranked up after 9pm for their live DJ so don't expect a quiet evenings cosy chat. Dancing is accepted if not actively encouraged.
Great food, great drink, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
