Over the years, I've really tried to support Boisdale; hosting corporate clients and friends as I've always had a soft spot for the place, mostly because of the music. It's never been about the food, and I should've advised my friend on Tuesday evening to settle for smoked salmon and a burger which is always a safe bet. You risk breaking your teeth on the 'crumbed' squid. The calves liver was a thick slab. The rib-eye steak was tough. It has its loyal clientele, a few oldies who tend to imbibe too much, fall about and just look sad, despite the singer making suggestions that it's 'time to go home'. If anything, it's entertaining but I won't be going back.
Fabulous as always
Great hidden gem close to it all. Live music. Great for late night. Food was very good. I had the bone in sirloin, and it was great. My wife had the lamb special and said it was fantastic! Impeccable service. Enjoy!
Birthday celebration but was not acknowledge by staff even thought I mentioned it twice.
Service was very slow
Superb food and friendly attentive service with a warm "Scottish" hospitality. Will be back.
Took my partner here for his birthday and despite asking for them to provide the birthday plate; it never materialised. The service was slow and by the time we had finished our mains; it was 11.30pm! Our booking was at 8.30pm! So, there was no time left to ask the staff to organise the birthday plate as they were closing. However, the food was amazing and the ambience delightful. A definite must.
Classic Scottish fare, great ingredients and focused delivery, provide a great dining experience, in authentic Scottish surrounds. The considered service wraps the whole experience.
Food was tasty and high quality. Service was really great (thanks Monica!) and we really enjoyed the music too unfortunately some of the other clientele were p*ssed-up jerks later on, interrupting our evening for the worse.
Great experience as always
Spectacular in everyday. There’s literally nothing to fault here. My favourite place
It was our 38th wedding anniversary, the ambience, food, service and atmosphere was very good and we certainly plan to go back in the future.
A fine venue with good wine and food. The haggis was exceptional
Cosy dining experience. Food was good and service was too. The Jazz sessions brought the place alive. End of night was a bit hooray Henry with those popping in for just drinks but did take away from a great Friday night
I felt that the prices were too much for the food quantity and quality. It seems you are paying for the ambience, which is good but is not worth the extra cost.
After booking via OpenTable was called to say that they were in fact full whilst I was en route. When I suggested they might want to take more care over their reservation system I was told very dismissively to “come and see for yourself”. No need to compound the error with rudeness.
I have been to this restaurant before and the food has always been decent. However there is sufficient choice in the area that I don’t need to go back to
50% off sirloin steak - what’s not to like!
Excellent food and portions felt about right except for the vegetables. They just felt a too small and expensive.
Service was a bit hit and missed. Asked five times on arriving for name to find booking which got a bit tiresome.
Very old school, but the waiting staff are a lot of fun, the food is great (even the unexpected - I had some of the nicest tofu there I have ever had), and nice ambience.
Lovely food, not cheap, the jazz was excellent, definitely a place to go to
No details of my booking but they managed to find a table in a back room which was a shame as I wanted to listen to the Jazz in the main dining room. The food is quality ingredients but I had to send the fish course back as it was not cooked. The service was good and they delt with the problem without fuss and efficiently. My instinct is this was not the norm and I would probably give them a second chance.
Abysmal service. I’ve been here for an hour after my main meal, asked 4 times for a drink to no avail. Keep being told to “wait a minute”. Shocking
The menu was amazing. Started with stuffed mushrooms and the scallops appetizers. For the mains, I had the shepherd's pie (the BEST I've ever had!!) and my niece had the poached cod. The food was delicious and prefect! I ordered 2 cocktails, they were just okay... I didn't see anyone else in the entire restaurant with a cocktail, everyone had either beer or wine. The service was top notch, very attentive and eager to please. Overall 5 star!
Had a nice meal here, nice ambience and even though we left before the music started, I can imagine that it would be a nice venue to listen to jazz while eating. Food was good on the whole, my wife ordered the Rum baba dessert, which was rock hard and tasted stale, on reporting this to the waiter he said that everyone says that and that he almost told her not to order it, why have it on the menu then? He did however replace the dessert with a free alternative, so partly recovered
Went to the Boisdale with friends for the Jazz and the Cigar Terrace but also had dinner! The restaurant ambience and service were very good. The food was also ok even though the deserts were terrible! The biggest disappointment was the music! Went there for Jazz and we had loud Motown music all night! The band were good but not playing the music we went there for! We ended up leaving early!
Boisdale's till got it after all these years. Fantastic ambience, superb service and the kind of welcome and atmosphere from the house that makes you feel like they might not remember you but you're very welcome back. Can't for the life of me think why it's taken me so long to return.
I went with 2 colleagues for a business celebration lunch and we had starters, mains (steak) and shared a cheese board. The food was delicious and all of our steaks from Rare, medium rare to medium were just as we wanted. Absolutely fabulous. My scallops were stunning and the the service was friendly and not to overbearing. I think it would be great of an evening as they have live music and I reckon it would be even more fun.
Was first time here and had great service and exceptional food. Lovely gem. Only negative was that I booked through open table on a 50% offer which we didn’t get. The offer drove me to choose this venue for the first time and was pleased I had but obviously a big cost differential excluding the offer.
We had a good time. However, our table was in an awkward position and we did not enjoy the music.
Brilliant fun with the amazing Monica as our waitress
Food was generally good, service was slow and waiter quite forgetful, forgetting one of our starters with very little by way of apology. keep us waiting for very long periods of time with no checking.
Whilst the food was delicious we found the sides to be a little on the small side so felt value wasn’t as high as it could have been. The restaurant is beautiful, full of character and ambience
I love the Boisdale. The setting is amazing and you are made to feel very comfortable and relaxed. I have to say though, need to stop calling the fillet on the bone “the best steak you will have” because I really is lacking, it’s good don’t get me wrong but certainly not the best. Overall very good but definitely room for improvement.
Boisdale Belgravia always lives up to its excellent reputation, a fine selection of game and seafood topped off with excellent music and cabaret performances.
Excellent and "that little bit different" All our guests loved it and will go again
Overall this was just average, and for the price it should have been much better. The food was the best part - the Haggis and the Chatau Briand werre good, but the steak was too rare for a medium rare request. The fishcake - not easy to do well -was too salty. The web site still says it is scottish tapas, but there is no tapas menu. I was just told "we have not done that for some time". The service was friendly but not well trained for a restaurant with pretentions to fine dining. For that price, there is no reason to return.
I enjoyed the dining experience. The ambiance reminded me a little bit of the 1980s Paris Jazz scene. Great music, solid decor, good bartender, creative menu of standard fare with creative twists. Oysters were local and fresh. Loved our minute steak and fruit crumble. Service was excellent
warm and knowledgeable. Just a great experience if you're looking for something to do in London.
We were shown to a table where the waiters and waitresses had seemed to have forgotten about us, we were seated in the room next to the live music area with only one other table occupied.
After waiting for around 20 minutes with no menus, I had to go next door to get the attention of the waiter to bring some menus and take our drinks order. Considering it was a birthday celebration this wasn’t the best start.
The food was pretty good at least, the service improved and we will be back as the service here is not normally this bad having been to all three venues previously.
Server was amazing!!
Excellent food and service, as always!
