Very enjoyable meal and good service. Will visit again after lockdown.
Loved the round table in the window.
Beautiful food served in a safe, secure but very friendly way. Every possible precaution has been put in place but still feels welcoming. Have never had anything other than beautifully fresh cooked food at the Cliftonville.
Absolutely delicious food, good value, great customer service, recommended to all.
Very enjoyable evening. Can recommend the baked crab.
Lovely food staff attentive, service quick, due to covid we were in the big dining room which doesn’t have the same ambiance but in these difficult times that really doesn’t matter
Enjoyed our lunch of cod & chips and lobster thermidor. Felt covid secure and staff trying hard in these difficult circumstances
Wide choice on menu & wine list, pleasant efficient staff.
Very good COVID safety precautions, made to feel comfortable and relaxed by the measures taken. The service was attentive but not intrusive with staff courteous and professional. The food was excellent, well prepared, presented and very tasty. Wine choice fairly extensive and nice to have pairing suggestions. Would highly recommend the Bistro, good value for money especially for the seafood dishes!
Good food, good wine, good atmosphere for dinner with friends or just for two
I’m always a little suspicious of hotel restaurants but thought we’d try this one because of the good reviews. We were pleasantly surprised and had a lovely meal. Two of shared a fantastic seafood platter and one of the group had a really tasty burger - very rich meat apparently! It’s a nice setting, busy and nice atmosphere
As we get used to our new ‘normal’ it is both interesting to see how businesses have adjusted and also necessary to allow for things to be different. The switching of the Bistro to a larger space was understandable and therefore the slight cost to the ambiance is forgivable; the service was excellent, friendly and warm, even if behind a mask, but sadly the food let things down a bit as although not ‘unpleasant’ it was a bit ‘meh’. Will be keen to try again when things are back to the old ‘normal’.
The staff’s safety precautions for Covid were excellent, I felt so safe I am going back Sunday! The food and helpfulness of the staff were up to the high standards I have had on previous occasions. A very enjoyable evening thank you.
A little too much Covid protection !
We were seated in a rear room which was dull and old fashioned.
There were just two members of staff waiting and they were rushed off their feet.
The fish was well cooked but the vegetables were disappointing. The meal was certainly not worth the full price of £18.50. At these prices we will not return in a hurry.
First time we have been to the bistro
At the Clifton hotel in Cromer , it’s a beautiful place , food, service, and staff was 10out10 made us feel very welcome , we will definitely go their again , hoping to book for Xmas xx
Went the extra mile with COVID situation.
Food of a very good quality..
We shall return.
To pay over £15 for a burger what arrived so dry it cooked have been cooking for an hour, the bacon what was a paid optional extra was burnt to a crisp, the plate had obviously been left under a hot plate for a long time as the bowl of coleslaw was hot and inedible, my other half had a vegetarian dish what she enjoyed.
It was a Wednesday during the eat out voucher deal, I have never complained about food at a restaurant but came very close this time, the only thing that stoped me was the poor staff who looked run off their feet trying to serve a lot of tables while trying to keep them selves and customers safe, they did a great job! We’ve eaten here very often as locals and this one was the worst meal, I have left a great review before on another we’ll known site so I believe this one is entitled.
Food was quite good but the service was terrible, staff were quite rude, when waiting with finished plates for over 30 mins and asked could they clear, was told can't you see were very busy in an aggressive tone
Took over 1.5 hrs to get our main course and 25 minutes to get a drink@
Good food well-served in difficult Covid conditions. Dining room full of contented holiday-makers. Good background hum.
We went out for a birthday meal hoping to sample the famous local Cromer crab and lobster. The meal was amazing and exceeded our expectations. The service was also excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentive.
Well organised layout good quality food , staff coped reasonably well in view of layout changes
First time we have eaten out since the lockdown. Food very good, service efficient, tables spaced out, nice environment. It was good to return.
Excellent food and friendly staff. Covid19 precautions were excellent.
Service and food was lovely. Little concerned that they didn't wear any face masks or shields.
Service was slow and we had to ask multiple times for our drinks and condiments
An excellent meal, well prepared and efficiently served by the staff.
They managed social distancing & cleanliness brilliantly. Just as enjoyable & professional as always. Delicious dinner.
Lovely meal after weeks in lockdown. Good food and staff.
Lovely relaxing evening with good food and good service, will definitely visit again
Had an excellent meal here 18 months ago when in the Cromer area so slightly surprised to see negative comments about the Bistro now. Having eaten here again on Sunday evening I can well see why customers are less enamoured with the venue. Our meal was distastous from start to finish. I ordered ciabatta with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start and my wife ordered warm garlic ciabatta. My starter arrived minus balsamic as they had run out of stock and the warm garlic ciabatta was burnt black with no taste of garlic. Pointed this out to staff who really didn't see it as a problem. Our warmed Brie wedges ordered next were fine. Then the main course. I ordered baked squash with couscous and my wife ordered Roast loin of pork with vegetables . My main arrived cold but conversely, my wife's main course was burnt... carrot and parsnips blackened, roast potatoes so hard that she couldn't get a knife into them. Both courses returned to the kitchen as unsatisfactory. Mine was the redelivered to the table with the comment that cous cous should be served warm not hot. This is accept, but there is a distinction between warm and cold! They agreed to recook both meals but when they were redelivered to the table, once again the vegetables and roast potatoes with the pork dish were burnt black as before. My cous cous was warm this time, but the squash cubes had obviously been subjected to a blast of heat as they were now far too dry to eat.
The bill was adjusted in recognition of the problems encountered, but really the meals should have been better in the first place. Couldn't blame the pressure on the kitchen as only 3 tables in the bistro occupied.
All in all a disastrous meal and we will not be returning the next time we are in Cromer.
Booked in advance and we were called by name wonderful food and we would go again
We have been before, always good food and big portions, this time it has lost some of its ambience and the menu is less expansive than it was. The makover/decor means that the atmosphere has been lost. The food was still good particularly the mussels, service very so so.
Where to start? Seafood Bistro with Crab, Mussels and some white fish on the menu. Mussels and Crab starter nice. Coley way overcooked. To death. Thai curry used the same creamy sauce as the mussels' starter. Service tried hard. Massively overpriced (I'm used to London value). Just totally underwhelmed. Nice location, but the Chef should make room for someone who sees, feels, smells and tastes the benefit of being on the coast. Sorry, but this hotel has one of the best locations on the east coast and having stayed and dined there twice in the last 4 years, it doesn't live up to it. Much better, fresher, local and honest food elsewhere in Cromer.
We had a meal here and it was amazing!! The staff were very attentive and friendly and service was good however I did request a round table through your site but the restaurant didn't seem to have it logged down but they made every effort to provide us with one.
Another Excellent Lunch At The Bolton's Bistro - Sincere Thanks To All Of Your Fantastic Staff !!!
We had Sunday lunch. The roast beef was exceptional and the roast potatoes were absolutely so very tasty. It was the best Sunday lunch we had eaten for many years. We live in Cromer. Aren't we lucky!
We came with friends after our trip to the cinema and found everything first class and will definitely be back. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
My husband had a burnt crust on the bottom of his pork
The sundaes were expensive and not
Much too them !
