Boqueria - Penn Quarter
Our cousin was staying at a nearby hotel, so we chose this restaurant we'd never visited, based on reviews. I requested a quiet table and/or outside table, weather permitting. The stars aligned, and we were seated outside. The street noise was low. Indoors, the place was far too loud for us to consider having a conversation, so we were pleased with our choice to sit outdoors. The service was excellent, and our waitress acquainted us with the tapas dishes, recommending several. Everything was delicious and served in style. We will return!
Two friends met for lunch on a Tuesday. The restaurant was not crowded so we could hear each other. Service was great, attentive but not overbearing. We choose two tapas and one lunch, and the food was delicious. The quantity of food for the tapas plates (gambas and tortilla española) allowed us to share, as did the roasted chicken and patatas bravas on the lunch plate. We had coffee as well, which is not always available at Spanish restaurants. All in all, better than many similar restaurants, both in the quality of the food and the ambience of the restaurant. Granted, it was lunch and not crowded, but we definitely would go back and already have recommended this restaurant to friends.
Las porciones son muy pequeñas. Bien sazonadas y sabrosas pero pequeñas y, a los precios establecidos, resulta una comida cara.
La atención del personal fue muy amable y eficiente.
The food was delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. I think that the price of the food may have not been worth it considering it is ~$30-40 per person for brunch without alcoholic beverages, but nothing was disappointing. I'd say value was the only questionable character.
Additionally, the staff were smiling, happy, and helpful. The waitress was very professional and took good care of us as well.
I’ve been to many tapas bar and lived in Madrid also. I give this place a 7/10. While it’s a tad better than Jaleo and Barcelona. The small stingy portions will not gave me run back.
It was a birthday celebration and the very rushed help didn’t even recognize it even after I reminded the hostess.
Rushed ackward service leaves me not longing for more.
One of my favorite places to dine when in DC. Never a disappointment and customer service is the gold standard...how it should be.
Food was great. Nice takes on diverse tapas. I like the Gambas al ajillo even better than Jaleo's classic. Patatas bravas were lively and spicy. Cheese platter was pricier but included tomato bread which was tasty and filling with the different cheese slices. Enjoyed a pitcher of sangria -- Triple Sec gives it a more complex flavor than the usual. The big problems for me, which may be features for others, are the noise and the seating. Almost all the seating is bar stools and high tables. Being older I find that kind of seating extremely uncomfortable. The other options were large group tables. The hostess kindly seated us at a large shared table in the back (which is slightly quieter) and did not place anyone else at our end. The cacophony in the rest of the restaurant was deafening for me. On the other hand, maybe this energy level attracts younger customers.
Food was good and service was also good. I did think that the prices were a bit steep for what we ordered.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. The food is delicious and best churros in town!
Enjoyed brunch here over the Labor Day weekend. They have a good variety of food and drinks that came out pretty quickly. We opted for bottomless brunch, and I was surprised that the servers were not more attentive, we were often sitting for a while with no checkin from the staff, which was especially frustrating since the brunch has a high price tag. Overall good experience.
Great dinner for my girlfriends birthday.
Brunch here is fabtastic!! Everything we had was delicious and Gloria, our waitress, was amazing!
Really excited that they expanded to the Penn Quarter location. Its much bigger, food is amazing. The service is great. The spiked chocolate milk is to die for.
Celebrate my nephew’s promotion.
Food was delicious, our server, Stephanie was amazing and the drinks were really good. Our drinks never got empty and it was an awesome experience treating my cousin to her first DC Bottomless Brunch!
Nice Spanish restaurant with good food!
Amazing server and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Food was amazing.
This was our first time visit.
i enjoy the brunch but i think some of the taste and temperature get lost when you’re pushing so much food at during a bottomless brunch- i wish the french toast tasted better - my second doing brunch there and both times it tasted burnt. overall a good spot and i would go back
Boqueria was mediocre. The wait staff barely attended to the table and often mixed up orders. It took very long to get refills on the bottomless brunch drinks. 5/10
Get the mushroom and ham croquettes - amazing value service and food!
The menu was hard to read and the only thing that was available for my daughter to eat was French fries. The chicken and churros were good. The food is served as Tapas format. If the waiter wouldn’t have been so nice letting us know know what was good on the menu we would have probably left to find another restaurant.
Loved the food but the service was not great. We had to ask for clean plates between meal and dessert and we still didn't get them. Similarly, our table asked for hot sauce no less than three times and we only received it after most of the dishes had been served. Food itself it great but service is much better at the Dupont location.
My wife and I had a wonderful date night here. Food and drinks were off the charts. I’m still fantasizing about the taste of the calamari. I regret that I didn’t try the pallella. Oh well. Guess I’ll be coming back soon!
Good food, the wait staff was busy but still did well.
Great service. Staff was attentive but not overwhelming. Food was excellent.
Looked good for drinks and the food was decent, but not outstanding. The waitress was great and brought us delicious Churros!
The food was delicious!
Fantastic service. Good place for dinner; bar area also looked packed. Loved their take on churros. Other food was good but not necessarily the best tapas available downtown.
Everything was delicious. Excellent service—server was friendly and knowledgeable. We’ll be back!
Another TAPAS place in the Distric not much differece between all of the restaurants that offer these options. PRICEY. Not worth the price in my opinion.
Great spot for brunch. Great drink selection.
One of the best Spanish restaurants I’ve been to outside of Spain. And would be at home in any Spanish town. Great food. Great value
Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back.
Bustling eatery that provided delicious option with excellent service.
We attended prior to a concert at Capital one Arena. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was absolutely superb. The tapas style fair came out "as it was ready", so based on what we had ordered, it seemed a little "out of order". We had a lot of veggies on the table before we had any meats, but it was so delicious, it really didn't matter. The lamb skewers were amazing as were the bacon wrapped dates. It was a rather lively atmosphere, but not so loud that my wife and i couldn't carry on our conversation.
Excellent food, great professional service. Reasonable prices.
This is a 5 star experience, but with 4stars because of the noise level. Dennis was our amazing server and worthy of a Michelin Star restaurant. He was personable, always had what we needed, paid the utmost attention to my food allergy and never "crowded" us. Went celebrating a friends birthday, and he did his upmost to make it memorable. The food was wonderful, especially the chicken. He made sure as much as possible was garlic and onion free for my allergy. The food was fresh and prepared exquisitely. Can't wait to return.
The food at Boqueria is flavorful and delicious. The menus has so many great vegetable options. I enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes, roasted beets, roasted corn, and the Spanish tortilla--each with its own seasonings, or complementary cheese. Add a glass of crisp white wine, and you have all the ingredients for a wonderful evening.
Great food! Our server was Natalia. Great personality. Love the pan con tomato with Jamon and the anchovies!
I enjoy Boqueria a lot. Good cocktails. Very tasty food. This time had the prawns, and must say compared to prawns I have had on the West Coast, these were really more like large shrimp. Next time will stick with either their excellent chicken or the gambas al ajillo. Or try either the ribs or the meatballs. The prawns for me were a rare miss for Boqueria.
