Boqueria - Penn Quarter
Great service and food
First time here and it was close to the food I had in San Sebastián, everything was prepared very well. Friendly staff and very professional. Overall a great experience. Definitely be back and recommend it.
I celebrated my birthday here with a small group of friends. The food was delicious - definitely try the paella! - and the service was excellent. The food is also very authentic and there's something for everyone.
Enjoyed the evening!
Great service, great food and great location. We ate mostly vegetarian because of our group makeup, and I tried various new and delicious dishes.
the food and the wine were very good. the server gave good recommendations and was quite good. we had to sit in the back at the bar facing the kitchen to find a place that was not too noisy. the place is louder than i would generally like and that would influence the situations when i would choose to return
Great service, wine, sangrias, and food!!!
Very good food, with moderately sized tapas. I had two tapas and was full! Sat outside on the “patio” for the happy hour deals. The patio is just a few tables on the sidewalk outside the restaurant, but the happy hour deals could not be beat. Will definitely be coming back!
the food and wait staff was great. here’s the problem...As soon as we came in and were seated, We said something to the host about how absolutely freezing it was in the restaurant and specifically where we were sitting. there was a vent right over us that was blowing cold air the whole time. there were five of us and all of us kept our coats on throughout the meal because it was so cold. we said something but they wouldn’t adjust the temperature and they didn’t offer to move us. really?
Amazing waitress, quick service and delicious food
Food good. Noisy. Waiter nice. Brought out of town guest. I would return with local maybe not someone I wanted to catch up with on events.
I love this place. It’s my jam(on)!😆♥️
Sophia was amazing !!
Carlos our waiter was AWESOME
We arrived with our baby and needed a table that could accommodate a baby seat that connects to the table (they don’t have traditional highchairs). The hostess was not entirely helpful but the manager showed up and saved the day. He gave us a table in an area the hostess said we couldn't sit, we had an amazing waiter, fantastic food, excellent wine and have offered to show the manager around some LA restaurants when he visits out West. This is our second visit to this location and will not be our last. Well done, Bouqueria!
Great service and great dishes. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Mushrooms were amazing!!
First visit for four of us. We enjoyed every dish we tried . With the medium paella, the four dishes were perfect for us. The portion sizes are large enough to share with several people while still being small plates. Expect it to be pretty noisy if you’re there when it’s very busy. Happily, we were able to carry on conversations pretty well on our Monday night visit since it wasn’t very crowded. Overall, it was a very nice experience.
I love the food and ambience - always great. Was not a fan of our server. He did not let us know about last call for food. I only go for unlimited tapas so last call for food is super important!
The space and ambiance are really nice. The food is good as well. The roasted chicken is excellent. Our server was a bit rehearsed and he accidentally broke a wine glass that shattered over me and my drink. He replaced it for free (as he should have). I would return, but it wouldn't be the first option.
Our waitperson Sophia was the best. Everything we ate was delicious. Food arrived promptly. Atmosphere was lively and friendly
This place is deliciousness! And service is on point. We would like to thank our server Pina. She was so attentive and so sweet!
I wish I could have tasted every item in their menu because all of the items we ordered was fabulous! They have great wine list as well! We will make sure to come back whenever we will visit DC again! Thank you for a lovely evening!
Whent for a friends birthday and Iva been before and got chefs menu with one other person when dinning there with my larger party it didn’t seem up to par very upset about dessert (churros and a tiny flan for 5 people like seriously) it’s a great place with great flavors but after hyping it up to everyone I’m sad to say I was a bit let down
I heard that the patatas bravas were amazing but I was a bit disappointed. They were too greasy in my opinion. The chicken dish I got was also a little dry. However, I would come back again to try some of the tapas and drinks and hopefully I'll like those better.
Food was mediocre, thought it was a bit overpriced.
The food, beverages, service and atmosphere were delightful! Highly recommended.
Our host Ronald was so friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Stephanie was attentive and informative - she took the time to explain the various dishes as this was our first time. When she indicated that the chicken was cooked with Iberico lard, that lessened my options as I don’t eat pork. The lamb poke bowl was good but I would have preferred a chicken or salmon option. The patatas bravas were crispy and well seasoned. Dessert was the best - we sampled both the chocolate churros (thin churros sticks you dip in chocolate sauce) and dulce de leche churros (thick churros stuffed with caramel sauce). The dulce de leche churros were our favorite! Overall, excellent service, lovely ambiance, good food and great dessert. I would go again just for the churros!
Our cousin was staying at a nearby hotel, so we chose this restaurant we'd never visited, based on reviews. I requested a quiet table and/or outside table, weather permitting. The stars aligned, and we were seated outside. The street noise was low. Indoors, the place was far too loud for us to consider having a conversation, so we were pleased with our choice to sit outdoors. The service was excellent, and our waitress acquainted us with the tapas dishes, recommending several. Everything was delicious and served in style. We will return!
Two friends met for lunch on a Tuesday. The restaurant was not crowded so we could hear each other. Service was great, attentive but not overbearing. We choose two tapas and one lunch, and the food was delicious. The quantity of food for the tapas plates (gambas and tortilla española) allowed us to share, as did the roasted chicken and patatas bravas on the lunch plate. We had coffee as well, which is not always available at Spanish restaurants. All in all, better than many similar restaurants, both in the quality of the food and the ambience of the restaurant. Granted, it was lunch and not crowded, but we definitely would go back and already have recommended this restaurant to friends.
Las porciones son muy pequeñas. Bien sazonadas y sabrosas pero pequeñas y, a los precios establecidos, resulta una comida cara.
La atención del personal fue muy amable y eficiente.
The food was delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant is lovely. I think that the price of the food may have not been worth it considering it is ~$30-40 per person for brunch without alcoholic beverages, but nothing was disappointing. I'd say value was the only questionable character.
Additionally, the staff were smiling, happy, and helpful. The waitress was very professional and took good care of us as well.
I’ve been to many tapas bar and lived in Madrid also. I give this place a 7/10. While it’s a tad better than Jaleo and Barcelona. The small stingy portions will not gave me run back.
It was a birthday celebration and the very rushed help didn’t even recognize it even after I reminded the hostess.
Rushed ackward service leaves me not longing for more.
One of my favorite places to dine when in DC. Never a disappointment and customer service is the gold standard...how it should be.
Food was great. Nice takes on diverse tapas. I like the Gambas al ajillo even better than Jaleo's classic. Patatas bravas were lively and spicy. Cheese platter was pricier but included tomato bread which was tasty and filling with the different cheese slices. Enjoyed a pitcher of sangria -- Triple Sec gives it a more complex flavor than the usual. The big problems for me, which may be features for others, are the noise and the seating. Almost all the seating is bar stools and high tables. Being older I find that kind of seating extremely uncomfortable. The other options were large group tables. The hostess kindly seated us at a large shared table in the back (which is slightly quieter) and did not place anyone else at our end. The cacophony in the rest of the restaurant was deafening for me. On the other hand, maybe this energy level attracts younger customers.
Food was good and service was also good. I did think that the prices were a bit steep for what we ordered.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC. The food is delicious and best churros in town!
Enjoyed brunch here over the Labor Day weekend. They have a good variety of food and drinks that came out pretty quickly. We opted for bottomless brunch, and I was surprised that the servers were not more attentive, we were often sitting for a while with no checkin from the staff, which was especially frustrating since the brunch has a high price tag. Overall good experience.
Great dinner for my girlfriends birthday.
Brunch here is fabtastic!! Everything we had was delicious and Gloria, our waitress, was amazing!
Really excited that they expanded to the Penn Quarter location. Its much bigger, food is amazing. The service is great. The spiked chocolate milk is to die for.
