Borelli's Wine Bar & Grill
Borelli’s is located in the historic Borelli Yard near the central car park, which features a beautiful courtyard under a magnificent Indian Bean Tree and provides seating for fifty people with heating in the evening.
We are the only wine bar in the town offering the widest selection of fine wines from boutique producers all over the world.
Our restaurant offers a New York inspired menu produced by our Head Chef Robert Hartley and his team for brunch, lunch and dinner.
Our wine bar at weekends becomes a favourite town venue with great music, cocktails, premium beers and spirits in a vibrant atmosphere till 1am on Fridays and Saturday nights.
Great service and lovely food. Atmosphere was very nice also.
Excellent service. Very attentive waiter. Food very good and reasonable price.
Tea pots don't pour well and end up dribbling tea all over the table. Poor design.
Apart from that very good.
The food and service were good, but that’s were it stops. It seemed as if Borelli’s Wine Bar had somehow managed to get an exemption from the face covering rules, well upstairs at least. Customers were allowed to walk around without wearing face coverings, whether this was going to the loo or outside for a cigarette it didn’t matter, they were clearly exempt. The staff were really no better, well that’s not quite correct 2 female members of staff attempted to wear face masks. One had a face mask hanging off one ear like a giant earring, reminded me somewhat of Dame Edna. The other female wore it around her neck like some sort of costume jewellery. At no time did staff ask customers to wear face coverings whilst walking around. Is it any surprise that the rate of COVID is just going up and up.
Lovely pizzas we all were very impressed .happy friendly staff
Great food and great service from the staff
Friendly staff and efficient service. Think 12.5 per cent service charge is a bit steep, although optional. Full menu on offer and food was fine.
Food was lovely as ever but sadly the service was not up to the usual standard
Great atmosphere continues regardless of Covid. Only real issue is that in the restaurant the service was slow taking 25 mins to get a drink. Downstairs the service was also slow and staff could be more aware of tables without drinks.
The place is not Covid secure. Not a single person that served us wore a mask all evening. By 10pm, groups of younger people started congregating in and outside. Social distancing became non existent. People where allowed to stand and drink x
Lovely food and a good night out, despite quite a wait for pudding.
Rude staff members, clicky atmosphere & waited 20 mins after being seated to receive service whilst the staff stood around chatting. We were the inconvenience for them.
Really enjoyed this first meal out since lockdown thank you!
My friend and I had a lovely meal and thoroughly enjoyed the experience post lockdown. Only criticism was the main menu was not available so no home favourites like sausgage and mash etc
But the evening was thoroughly enjoyable.
A lovely relaxed restaurant with friendly staff. A wine bar but has a wide variety of drinks
First trip out to eat post lockdown and was just perfect....if the sun was shining today we would be back again!! X
I would definitely recommend the food and service, but the restaurant was just so quiet that it lacked any atmosphere - not really what I expected on a Friday night!
Always a warm welcome and good food, well served. Thank you.
The restaurant was nearly empty when we went, however we still had to grab the attention of our server to ask for the drinks and food menus (separately) and the bill when we were ready to leave. It is a stretch to class this restaurant as a "wine bar" as it feels more like an upscale pub and the staff did not seem any more knowledgeable about the wines on the menu than I was.
Had booked a table for 12 on Fathers day. Food was very good, particularly liked the Whitebait, but the most impressive thing was the service from the excellent waitresses, it was outstanding.
Really lovely food and service
Got to say this is one of the worst meals I've ever had. The menu on here is nothing like that on offer. Cheap pizzas, frozen nibbles and dry unseasoned chicken is the fare here. Ordered some tempura prawns s which were frozen and the cooked, only to come out soggy. Our salads were so so awful. A caesar salad with salad cream sauce and mixed leaf including carrots and onions etc. Obviously the chef is either so new that they've ever cooked or it's literally the service team doing the cooking inbetween orders. The wine isn't worth the money so if you want something of a night to remember, I'd go elsewhere. It's a shame as the menu on here showing fish dishes etc is the reason I wanted to go a d had enjoyed it before. God knows what's happened in this sorry place now
Such a delightful restaurant in a lovely quiet spot. Food was delightful. service was excellent. Just the place for a quiet Sunday lunch if you don't want a roast.
Very friendly and meticulous staff. Nothing was too much trouble and nothing was forgotten. Food was lovely. It was a really nice evening.
First visit and on first inspection it looked a little tired, but very friendly staff and lovely simple bar food at competitive price point made it somewhere I would definitely return to.
Limp side salad, dry bread, overall not terribly exciting
Very friendly and efficient waitresses, good value food and a good selection of wines for a reasonable price.
We had booked a table pre our sons wedding, when we arrived there was no booking, I had my email confirming the book, it was good job that there was a table available. Food was very good and service.
Noisy and characterised by party goers. Anyone wanting a good night out with friends would be disappointed if you are not rowdy, heavily drinking and occupying the bathrooms due to overindulgence.
We will not go again, no matter what occasion.
We didn’t really enjoy our food. There was a loud table next to us so that didn’t help but the waitress did all she could make our meal a good one. Sadly we won’t be eating there again but we will definitely go for a drink as the bar is very lively.
Average = food service and ambience - would go again but nothing to write home about
Excellent food and service in a pleasant atmosphere
Good atmosphere, good food, good value, good and friendly service but it did get to a point where my friend and I could no longer hear each other speak due to the size and exuberance of groups of people standing at the bar. Maybe sitting right next to the bar wasn't the best choice for catching up with an old friend. Will definitely be back but might try a different table. :)
Customer service generally good, some staff were friendlier than others! Food took quite a while to come so had to rush to eat it as was on a lunch break but was cooked fresh and tasty when it arrived! Good selection of wraps and sandwiches and a nice small list of wines. Liked being able to sit inside but within the large open doors with the sunshine coming in.
Brilliant! A wonderful evening of excellent food, great venue, friendly and genuinely helpful staff, well stocked bar - overall a really excellent choice for any occasion, well done all for helpfing to make the evening as fantastic as it was. Thank you.
Don't miss the fishcake! Good ambience and value for money
always go there in a group of friends for my birthday
Lovely night with friends. Food & service great & good value!

Great food and staff. Lovely atmosphere, we will be back.
We had a lovely table with great service from the staff
