Bottle & Glass Inn
Everything was lovely. We were surprised another table were allowed to have a dog at the table with them.
Delicious Sunday roast and excellent friendly staff.
I have eaten here a few times on a Sunday now and always had a pleasant experience. This time round is seemed to have newer staff. I had a table booked for 12.
One young man stood with his hands down his trousers whilst talking to the other staff. All I kept thinking was ‘please don’t be the one serving my food’They all seemed more interested in talking then serving.
Waitress having a cold was a bit off-putting worrying about germs! Otherwise fab!!
A pleasant lunch, but over cooked burgers (like rubber) put a downer on the experience.
My soup was luke warm and the Ribeye steak that my wife and I ordered gave us upset stomachs. Disappointment on Valentine's night.
The B&G was recommended to us, the food and menu were good but the service was awful! They were not even busy. We waited a long time to be seated, we waited 25 minutes for our table to be cleared and only when I went up to find a waiter, did they come and take our plates away. We then waited a further 20 minutes for someone to come to take our dessert order, but no one did.....! In the end we got up, grabbed our coats and payed at the bar. I explained to the bar staff we were not happy and they gave us a 15% ‘Locals discount’. It’s a shame if it wasn’t for the terrible service I would go back again and recommend not worth going there
The second time I’ve have eaten here, the first time there was a two course lunch for £15 which was amazing value. That wasn’t available this time and so more costly but I’m not surprised they can’t produce food of such good quality cheaply. You get what you pay for and I would definitely go back for special occasions or when I don’t have to pay for the whole group.
Enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch food tasty and plenty of it, wine list substantial and staff attentive. All round 1st class.
Lovely space, fresh flowers and very light. The service was on the slow side but the food was very tasty. We would go again
Very friendly and professional staff, great food, beautiful restaurant. No complaints at all!
Sunday roast was truly excellent. The beef was excellent quality and perfectly cooked, the veg was very tasty, and the dessert was incredible. Decent wine list as well. One of the best I've had.
We came to the pub to celebrate our anniversary as we’d been to the Harwood Arms and loved it. The food was absolutely delicious but the waitress didn’t really seem that engaged or add to our experience, if anything she dampened it. She managed to pick up her energy at the end but it still wasn’t great. Hopefully it was just a bad day and not a permanent state of play.
Unfortunately went for Sunday lunch on a very busy day. Starters were good, but then we waited an hour for the main course which was barely warm and the veg were uninteresting and/or plain not nice. Real shame and not our previous experience at the restaurant.
Nice ambience and good service, but food underwhealming. In particular, the 'veggie' main of roasted root vegetables with barley was seriously lacking in flavour. We wondered whether the head chef was having a night off! We'd recommend it to friends but with reservations and warn them to select their menu choices carefully.
A lovely warm fire to warm up after walking the dogs, friendly attentive service and exceptionally good food. My friend said it was the best meal she had had in a very long time! Congratulations B&G!
Had a great lunch with friends. Very good service. Very quiet. Fab food. Will definitely be back!
Service was poor and the portions of food for the cost extremely disappointing. The waitress did not understand the menu, several options were unavailable on a Saturday night and we had to pay for extra vegetables when the dish we ordered was already loaded with them!!!
The Partridge dish was tough and overcooked as was the steak.
We had a lovely family meal for 6 celebrating 4 birthdays all this week and it was very enjoyable. There was a little delay due to another larger party, the only special starter was unavailable and I thought the overall value for money was a little high. All that said the staff were very friendly, the food was enjoyed and we will definitely go back :)
Loved it! Went for Sunday lunch and had a v good time. My only observation would be that they could have more variety of cheaper wines Esp for those served by the glass. I noticed most people were not drinking wine and maybe that is due to the prices.
Excellent lunch, nice service and beautiful walk beforehand
Food was good but service incredibly poor. We had to ask for everything which none of it was done with a smile. It wasn't even busy and therefore no excuse. Very disappointing as have been a couple of times before but would not rush back.
The food was fine but, the service was terrible the girl that waited on us didn’t smile once, she didn’t ask if we’d like more drinks just kept walking passed us, we didn’t get asked if we would like to see the desert menu and it took absolutely ages for her to ask if we wanted coffee made us feel, very very uncomfortable it's a shame because the front of house in the bar area was excellent that’s the reason we decided to go there, we’d been for a dog walk the day before and popped in for a drink and the staff were excellent so we thought let’s try the restaurant.
A mix of comfortable modern restaurant and traditional pub. High-end food and drink choices although vegan options very limited. Hopefully Veganuary will spur them on.
Excellent food and service as usual.
Lovely cosy local pub. Very tasty well cook tender beef with our roast on Boxing Day. Would definitely go again.
A nice pub which seems to be owned and run by a fellow on his own most of the time. Good parking, lively location with great walks from the pub.
The first issue is that the open table website does not keep up to date with the changing menu at the Bottle and Glass.
Having arrived we ordered, but there was no indication on the menu or at the time we ordered that one of the dishes would take an extra 20 minutes. That said the staff did what they could and brought us out extra snacks to keep us going.
The food was amazingly good.
However the beer was off and about 8:30pm they started noisily moving tables around - if you need to rearrange for a second cover then have two people lift and carry the tables.
The food was brilliant, as it has been before, but there a few bits they need to learn from.
So I decided a special breakfast with my family of 7 for my Birthday. Well I can honestly say it was hugely disappointing. The sour dough toast was rubbish sliced bread. The poached eggs were hard. 1 sausage. The poached eggs and salmon were on one slice of sliced rubbish bread. Pitiful. I didn’t complain as I didn’t want an atmosphere.
I guess it explains why you were empty for breakfast. The coffee is out of a push button machine and lukewarm . People have said you are good. For me you have a long long way to go.
Sad as i thought you would be special Coppa club for me next time. Head and shoulders above you.
Compliments to the chef. Food was excellent and would highly recommend.
Great food, warm atmosphere and friendly service. Couldn't drink because I was driving but wine selection looked pretty impressive.
Absolutely flawless we loved it! We can’t wait to go back.
Wine list is too extensive and expensive . It would benefit if there were a greater selection of good quality House Wines at realistic prices . In the main most people who eat out regularly tend to judge their experience on this issue , as the highest item on the bill will be alcohol !
Fabulous festive meal.
The food was superb - wonderful flavours, great choices, just the right amount.
Service was attentative but not obtrusive. Good value for money.
Couldn't fault it.
I did not like the reminder email. What would you have done if I hadn't responded - cancelled the booking? Not everyone is checking their phones and gadgets regularly. And quite unnecessary as there were many empty tables. You are the first restaurant we have been to in Henley to have this awful practice.
I didn't like the automatic adding of 12 1/2%. I realise it is not compulsory but the need to point it out spoils the enjoyment of the evening. Tips should be left entirely to the customer and in any case the standard in the UK is 10% not 12 1/2%.
The meat was tough - I realise it was not your best but one could get much better for £16, and with vegetables included. Portions (except for the meat) were very small.
All in all, I had the impression of a money-grabbing approach to running the restaurant.
PS. I note this has a spell-checker programmed to US 'English'. Can't we use our own spellings or do you think the USA is superior to us? I have lived in the states and would not agree.
Great meal. Lovely food (although a bit salty for mine and my wife’s pallet). Service was friendly, but didn’t ask how food was at any point. Would go there again.
It was my birthday. Lovely evening, very relaxed
We were the only people in despite being unable to book a table for the time we required. One girl (very pleasant) didn’t know what she was doing. Food was just edible. Costly.
Excellent as always, the food was superb and the staff are always friendly and polite.
Extremely slow service.
Roast beef was undercooked and quite tough.
