Bottle & Glass Inn
The Bottle & Glass Inn is a lovingly restored pub from Alex Sergeant & David Holliday, focusing on a seasonal menu, a great wine list and a well loved beer selection.
Our ethos is to serve the best food and drink in a casual, friendly environment, without pretention and stuffiness.
Customers of all ages are welcome at all times in all areas of the pub and garden, including four-legged friends. We only ask that you respect our other guests and ensure dogs are clean and well behaved when visiting.
Always a friendly warm welcome with equally comforting food.
Not great ….
Delicious meal, particularly the prawn and crab cocktail which was packed with fish and flavour. All food stylishly presented. Lovely ambience in the restaurant, and really warm and welcoming. Really competent and cheerful waitress, very helpful. Couldn't fault the whole experience. Will return soon.
Lovely pub. the food is excellent. really enjoyed our experience and will be coming back.
Food was enjoyable but not outstanding. Service was quite slow and a long wait on food considering the restaurant appeared fairly quiet but the staff were lovely. Definitely worth a visit though.
Awesome service, excellent food, and brilliant playlist in the background. Fire was on keeping us all warm enough
Ambience slightly spoiled by a cantankerous guest who was self opinionated, garrulous, unreasonably demanding and difficult. Made the waitresses life very difficult. None of this was the fault of B and G Inn
Would certainly revisit
Good well done Jenna
Why do you insist on a book?
We’re local, we were turned away by a very snooty waitress at the barn, to what appeared to be a very empty barn, to be told they were only taking bookings (we’ve never had an issue with walkins before), in the meantime we tried to get a takeaway for the children in our party from the barn who were very hungry and getting restless, this was turned down too. We walked away, booked online for the pub (next door, same operators). Why wasn’t this open given to us… in the end we had to leave due to it taking too long to get seated by which point the children were far too hungry and we decided to leave for quicker food.
We’ve taken many guest to the barn in the past and enjoyed the experience. Staff training needs improvement. We went to a pub in the centre of Henley in the end where nothing was too much trouble for them, offering a high chair and accommodating a last minute booking.
Lovely sunday lunch on the patio - great food, great service, great ambience!
Absolutely lovely meal all the girls absolutely loved their food.. definitely going to visit again with family
Excellent overall - you can see why it's in the Michelin guide. Great place for an informal gathering or a celebration meal
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again.
Fabulous. Great food, excellent staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Not hurried at all. Good access to facilities.
A real gem! Great food and service. Would visit again.
Starters were good and the Bread excellent, but all 3 main course mediocre
Fish and chips, the batter was so hard and The chips were overcooked and dry. ( better fish and chips at the chippie !The sole was also overcooked and the broccoli too raw. The place was not too busy either!
The kitchen skills needs some serious improvement to honour the price of the food!
Very much over priced. I wouldn’t recommend. Food was average. Venue is nice though.
Small menu but excellent food and service. A reliable place for a night out and good value
Love the vegi burger
We’ve wanted to eat here for a while. Slightly disappointing that our table flowers were dead - not a big thing but a detail that is hard to overlook!
Food in general was lovely, children’s pasta was a lot for a 3 year old.
Roast Beef tasty - even the bonus string on my portion!
Overall an enjoyable lunch but for the premium price more attention to detail could be paid.
Absolutely delicious roast shoulder of lamb for two. Bit pricey £70 for two for one course with a couple of drinks but it was lovely.
All the staff were really courteous and light - lovely evening and a lovely surprise having complimentary fizz because it was our anniversary very nice touch - we had a lovely evening - thank you
This is a lovely barn and the atmosphere deco very welcoming.
If you like burgers it's perfect with good quality meat and veggie burgers and nice trimmings. Good range of drinks. Busy on a Saturday night but plenty of space. The pub tables/seats would not suit older customers but the menu is obviously pitched at young customers and families. The quality of the burgers is very good. In the Winter I hope they will offer a wholesome soup too. My family said the ice creams very nice too.
We had a great time. The atmosphere, staff, burgers, beer 🍺 everything was great.
Lovely atmosphere and very friendly, professional staff. Food was excellent except the Sole which was a little bit dry
Lovely quiet lunch in the sun
Maybe put up the umbrellas for shade but otherwise lovely
Beautiful pub in a lovely setting with excellent service and delicious food
What’s not to like about this place.
Staff are friendly courteous and in the ball. I had the scotch egg to start the pork loin, egg and cups for main abd a cheeseboard to share for dessert.
All the food was beautifully presented, piping hot and delicious.
We told the staff we wanted a long slow lazy lunch as we weren’t in any rush.
We were left to our own devices but plates were cleared quickly.
I have eaten here many times and just cannot find fault with anything about the B and G.
We had a nice walk from Shiplake up to the pub for a Sunday Lunch. B&G looked after us very well.
The food wasn’t worth the money.
The service was good
My biggest grip was a a bottle wine on the menu which was £10 turned out to be £40. Wasn’t told this when I ordered it which they should have done.
We had a great evening and the staff were very efficient and helpful. There was a large party of us and the food all came out really quickly and at the same time. We had a great time - thank you!
A great place to come in a group with children. The staff were amazing and not phase at all herding a rabble of 20! Food was delicious. A great evening
Great atmosphere in the barn with the fairy lights & open fire. Amazing service with friendly staff.
Fantastic food and served by warm and friendly staff
Having been to the restaurant several times, I enquired about covered areas. I have several chronic conditions and am unable to go inside anywhere.
I was told about the barn which was a big airy space…..,but….I wasn’t told that the barn had a completely different menu. We were bitterly disappointed as we hadn’t been out for a meal since the beginning of lockdown so this was to be a special event. I really think this should be made clear, also that we could have driven to the barn, please make this clear when booking people into the barn.
We mainly had the Sunday Roast. The portions were huge and we ended up bringing most of the lamb home. It was all delicious.
Best burger I’ve ever ever had! Friendly and welcoming staff. Would highly recommend!
Food was good but problem was with booking system. We booked the pub and were advised through Open Table that it was outdoor table which was fine. When we arrived we were told that we weren’t outdoors at pub but in the burger barn and that had only burger menu. The staff were apologetic but said they couldn’t do anything about it. The burgers were good and in different circumstances it would have been fine but we were taking older relatives out for Sunday lunch. We would recommend the pub but not the booking system and recommend you phone pub direct.
It was brilliant, great food and super good service from all the staff
Should always have the fire pit on as so cold ! Great place though really loved it
Lovely meal as always at the Bottle and Glass. Can’t fault food, service or ambience.
