Boulestin is an elegant and convivial Restaurant in St James’s serving classic French dishes inspired by the 20th-century food expert and first TV chef, Xavier Marcel Boulestin.
The brain-child of renowned restaurateur, Joel Kissin, Boulestin brings back old-school dishes such as Jambon Persillé and Soupe de Poisson, using M. Boulestin’s original recipes, and couples them with impeccable service. 23 year old Head Chef Elliot Spurdle is continuously inventing and developing the menu, with dishes such as Iberico Pork Pluma, Razor Clams & Chorizo being an immediate hit. There's also Ballotine of Chicken with Truffle Compote, and Grilled Blackened Rump of Welsh Lamb.
With a Private Dining Room and pretty outdoor terrace-style Courtyard for al fresco dining, this is the perfect destination, whether you’re after a celebratory dinner, special event dining or pre/post theatre meal.

Boulestin Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately our experience was not one to be repeated! The menu confused with odd combinations to the extent we both ordered Dover sole - was nice - but suddenly the restaurant staff started to serve shisha to 4 women behind us and the stench was horrible so much so that we rushed our desert and left - a clear act of desperation in a French restaurant to serve this. Not an experience to be repeated
My adult son and I ate here on Nov. 2nd. We were visiting from Florida. Boulestin is one of my favorite restaurants, so we had to pay a visit. Id been raving about the restaurant for 2 years.
Boulestin, ma cherie, you did not disappoint. Our visit was everything I'd hoped it would be. Our meal was flawless. I had a starter which contained grilled octopus. I love it, but octopus can be tricky. If you dont treat it right, you get a mouthful of hot rubber bands or tires. No worries, it was lovely. Both of us had sea bass with a gastrique that contained squid ink. Again, if you dont treat that right, its a mess. Nope, no messes, just lovely flavor and color.
Our servers were professional and efficient. It was a very busy night, but we never felt rushed. I would have liked to talk with them a bit more, but thats ok.
We will be back, but we don't know when. Until then, thank you for the wonderful meals and the irreplaceable memories.
Beautiful restaurant with real 'Parisienne' style. Superbly attentive waiting staff and Maitre 'D without feeling intrusive in any way. Fantastic menu with wide variety of dishes to suit foodies and the health conscious. Food always so beautifully presented - some dishes you would love to take home and hang on the wall as art if it were possible. Great wine list with plenty of refills of water without charge. Overall a brilliant dining experience where you are always made to feel very special - fast becoming our 'Go to' place when in Central London.
Boulestin is a wonderful place for evening dining. Great for a get together with friends / colleagues or date night with your loved one. Food is terrific, classic cooking done really well. They also have an all day set menu, which is great value - duck dish was fabulous. Overall a great evening and will definitely return.
I have eaten at Boulestin on several occasions. I have enjoyed them all. I have had lunches and dinners. I have dined solo and with colleagues.
The menu is interesting and imaginative with a strong classical French influence.
The wine list is good with several fine wines available by the glass.
The service I have enjoyed has always been impeccable.
I thoroughly recommend Boulestin!
A very beautiful private courtyard just off St James's made for a very pleasurable relaxed dining experience. The food was excellent and well presented with attentive serving staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the maitre d who made my wife's day by serving an exceptional white lady cocktail. We certainly intend to return when next inLondon.
Loved Boulestin and so did my fellow diners who can be picky! Superb and elegant food, the turbot was divine, as was the fish soup, asparagus risotto and the Iberico pork. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and this is a lovely restaurant who know what they are doing.
Our first visit to the Boulestin and we were delighted. We chose to have the tasting menu with accompanying wines and enjoyed a sumptuous meal. The presentation of the meals was excellent, and food of excellent quality. Service was attentive without being intrusive. It was relatively quiet for a Saturday evening but that didn't detract from an enjoyable evening. Happy to endorse.
This is a delightful restaurant in the heart of St James's that always delivers delicious seasonal food cooked well. If you like French food you'll love this place. The service is also excellent, my request to change table was quickly handled and does with charm. I will visit again soon.
I love the welcome, the elegance, the style, the simplicity, the food, the drinks, the presentation, the ingredients - it gives me e feel good factor. I can comfortably go on my own when I need a nourishing snack break from the office, I adore the breakfasts, and it is a great place to meet for lunch and early supper with my partner who loves it there too or with friends.
I go to Boulestin regularly for breakfast, coffees and lunches as it is nearby my office.
The food is delicious, the staff very friendly and the atmosphere bright and relaxed.
This truly is a local favourite for me and I love the home made madeleines they serve with coffee.
Boulestin is such a lovely little place, on a warm and sunny day the courtyard is unbeatable, on a rainy day it is just charming and cozy - but always stylish! The food is wonderful classic French food; and the staff is lovely and always happy to cater for specific food allergies.
My friends and I now regularly visit the Boulestin and it seems to get better every time. The staff are delightful and the food is exceptional. Whilst we usually opt for the fixed priced menu because it is such good value, we chose from the a la carte last week and we all remarked on how delicious our meal was. It was our 'Christmas get together' and did not disappoint. The ambience is always warm and friendly, one of the party said it was like coming home. We shall not be able to visit again until the Spring, but we shall definitely be returning then!
A wonderful elegant addition to the London restaurant scene, the service was impeccable & accommodating and the food excellent - in particular the classic fish soup. Sometimes I get tired of establishments owned by the large corporate groups, as they do all feel the same. I could tell this place was independent and run by a passionate restaurateur, not an accountant, who does justice do the 'Boulestin' name. The original restaurant I remember dearly.
This was our second visit and won't be our last. The food was absolutely delicious and the ambience lovely. The service was impeccable and the manager/maitre d'hotel was friendly and attentive without being familiar. Situated in the heart of St. James's this restaurant meets all our criteria. A memorable evening.
I entertained two clients at a business lunch at Boulestin. We had a marvelous outdoor table. The staff were attentive but discreet, and the food was delicious. The wine list was a bit on the pricey side, however, so a few budget options would have been appreciated. Overall a really memorable lunch!
