Bourgee Chelmsford Ratings and Reviews
We went with another couple on Friday 8th December and was happy to find we had a table on the ground floor. It was busy and had a good happy atmosphere. We were greeted by a very friendly and professional gentleman where our coats were taken and were shown to the bar.
The bar man was very polite and welcoming. The food was lovely. Steak cooked to perfection and a choice for my sister in law who is vegetarian. I was at the opening night of this restaurant in September 2016 and good to see that it has ironed out the few teething problems it had. One being the smoke from the Jasper grill has been controlled. We all enjoyed the food and atmosphere and loved the decor. Very modern and classy. It isn’t the cheapest place but well worth the money but definitely not the most expensive place I have been. Good for couples and groups alike. Highly recommend to others.
I visited for afternoon tea with a friend for her birthday. This was the best afternoon tea I have ever had! The food was amazing, everything was delicious and so lovely to have something different other than sarnies and scones! I shall definitely be returning, especially as it was also easy in the purse!
The only thing i would say, is that i paid cash and a man come to take it and said he would return with the change, but didnt!! Just the assumption that it was a tip bothered me, even if it was! But it was the girls that served us and then came with the card machine.
We was welcomed into the modern and slightly posh atmosphere. We had three pushchairs so wondered how we would be received but the staff were very accommodating. We Never felt pressured to hurry or vacate our relaxing sofas. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was our coffee wasn't very hot but the waitress offered us a replacement. Also the pancakes Wearnt hot, but still very tasty. Defo returning. Maybe go for something sauvory next time.
We had a lovely celebratory meal here and enjoyed three courses of e cellent cuisine. Only negative were the mushrooms in our appetiser lobster profiteroles, they weren't listed on the menu hence we ordered the item, only to be disappointed that they seemed to be the main filling ingredient.
We make a point of having a date night at least twice a month and since moving to Chelmsford 9 months ago, we have made Bourgee our night out. From the welcome at the door, friendly greeting from the now familiar staff - its perfect. The steak and Lobster based menu is perfect, service is timely but above all, we are never rushed out-no matter what time we book. We live part of our lives on Mainland Spain and have travelled extensively ( for work and pleasure) - Bourgee has been a real find and one of our favourite places to eat - any where!
From start to finish the staff we met were very friendly, flexible and knowledgable.
We enjoyed the little extras that turned it from just a lunch to an event.
For example, the main meats and lobsters were brought to the table and explained to us. My wife wanted the seafood burger without the bread. This was well presented in a lettuce leaf. The expanding hand wipes and finally the waiter pouring the strawberry coulis further example of good service so often overlooked.
All small details but memorable.
Our food was excellent, cooked to perfection for us. Hardly anything went back.
True, this was by no means a cheap lunch, but the quality could not be faulted.
We will be back.
First time I have ever had steak and the beef was perfectly cooked, really easy to cut into and seasoned very well. The accompanying vegetables were good and the garlic and herb roast potatoes were fantastic. An added side of cauliflower cheese made the meal even better
Excellent food. The vegetarian starter & main were lovely. I understand this is a steak restaurant, so don't expect more than one veggie option, but to eat here regularly, I would need to see the veggie options are changed, as I don't like eating the same thing every time I visit a restaurant.
This was a very special occasion, our 50th wedding anniversary. We had already had family celebrations previously. This was ournight out on the actual date. My wife's favourite dish was your lobster social, great stuff, great low key event. We both enjoyed the experience. We had previously visited your Southend venue. First time at Chelmsford, thank you.
This was our first visit to Bugee and we're surprised at the ambiance and comfortable surroundings. Food was superb and of high quality. The food was pricy but for the atmosphere and quality of this restaurant this would be expected. Look forward to our next visit.
