Bourgee Norwich Steak Lobster Luxe Lounge
Spoil yourself with affordable luxury whether joining us for a weekend brunch, great value £10 lunch, afternoon tea, dinner or just a glass of beer or bubbles in our stunning luxe lounge bar. Maybe try a wonderful cocktail created by our in house mixologist.
Central to the Bourgee experience is our seared beef steak
- tomahawk, strip loin, fillet, rib eye, pave, our daily guest appearances or own twist on Bourgee lobsters.
Sunday luncheon and our finger tapas in our luxe lounge bar are firm favourites - so book or arrive early as we fill very quickly.
We booked for the lobster - there was no lobster, they advertise as a steak and lobster restaurant some of the steak was off and no lobster at all. The staff were great but for a celebratory meal that cost a fortune the choice was shockingly poor.
You can expect a good steak house experience when going to Bourgee Norwich. The food is always good but the setup may be reaching too far. It gives the appearance of a fine dining establishment when it's far more simple, great steak, good crustaceans, and decent sides.
This visit was better, but the wait between sitting and seeing your food can be somewhat long. They're always accomodating and polite.
When visiting be prepared to pay good steakhouse prices and get good steakhouse fare.
Amazing service and lovely food. Good pricing especially when you’re ordering from the house menu 2 courses for 17.50! I also loved the open kitchen and the way it was run.. reminded me of Hell’s Kitchen . Except the person running the kitchen was lovely and didn’t swear lmao ! Made me excited everytime he said “service please!”
Great late lunch with friends
We arrived was sat at our table and drinks menu given . Ordered our drinks then ordered our food. 50 mins later was asked if placed food order and was told misplaced our order and given complimentary drinks for inconvenience and our wait. Another 20 mins went by and received our meals. Good food but small portions for my liking and price.
We eat out often in NORWICH. This was the worst experience we have had. The restaurant is dark with no atmosphere . Plastic tables with bits hanging off. Lobster speciality yet no Lobster bits starter at 7:30 !
We will not go back again.
The service at the restaurant was poor had to wait 20 mins for drinks an hour and a half for food was a disgrace and value for money was poor. Food come out cold will not being going back. Booked a table and they didn’t even ask for my name when I walked it to be seated for me
Service was poor and food was poor very poor, tiny portions and I ordered meduim well done steak and my friend rare and neither of them came how we would of liked both came we’ll done.
It took 25 minutes just to get our drinks.
The restaurant was very quiet not busy at all and there wrre lots of staff doing nothing but it still took ages to get service.
Shambles, no draught beer starters I ordered wasn’t available nor were 2 of the main dishes , side dishes didn’t turn up chips were not cooked properly and presentation was awful bill was wrong 3 times and the gents upstairs toilet was blocked apart from that enjoyed
Completely messed up our order so was sent back until all ready at the same time
We ordered lobster which was cooked and then reheated so was like eating chewing gum
Asked for steak to be cooked medium but was cooked well done
Over priced for what it is. No lobster avialable (despite being a lobster and steak restaurant) and the steaks were fine. Have had better elsewhere.
Went on Saturday night and were told a few items were off the starter list, then told there was NO lobster. (it's a steak and lobster restaurant, main reason we came was to have a lobster.) No one called in advance, or even told us when we came in. It was just casually mentioned when they asked if we were ready to order.
There was no bar staff on upstairs or a DJ (which there used to be.) So felt flat for a sat night.
Was also sat under a freezing cold aircon unit which wouldn't be switched off.
Used to love this place. Feels like it's got new management who don't care?
This is our second visit here. This time it was for my husband's birthday.
The food was brilliant, Lobster was off the menu, but for us that was fine we all ordered steaks - different types and the steaks were lovely, cooked as requested and extremely tasty. I had toasted sesame vegetables, which I did enjoy but they were a bit too hot for me.. all the food was hot and well presented. No draught beer which was disappointing but ample bottle selection.
I did feel that the serving staff weren't sure what they should have been doing and when But they were polite and eager to please - perhaps a little more training required so that they didn't fall over each other's feet
Without doubt we will go back there again and soon.....
Food was average for a steak, asked for medium well, some over cooked some blood, took us 20 minutes to get ours drinks, ordered another drink which we never got personally wouldn’t come back. Music wasn’t suited for the atmosphere
Booked this restaurant for valentines expecting a great dining experience to share with my partner.
Table wasn't set, water was never brought over to the table, getting any attention to order food took far too long. Poor selection of starters. Food itself tasted good once it eventually arrived. Ordered half lobster to come with my steak but it was never cooked and when questioned no one knew what happened to it. Staff weren't aware of which cut of steak they were serving and how well it was cooked.
Overall just generally disappointed with what I was hoping to be a nice meal
Disappointed with portion size of starters. Disappointed with sides that came with main (tomahawk steak). Sides were a very small portion of droopy chips and a dauphinois potato round which are frozen and available in the supermarket. Steak also was just a load of chopped up steak next a some still on the bone, large portion but not worth £65. Service also was slow, early died of thirst waiting for 3rd drinks and also £6 for bottled ale is extortion. Don’t mind paying for quality but overall quality was poor.
Really enjoyed our food and service, a couple of loud customers but wouldnt put us off returning.
We had the tomahawk steak and it was delicious, also added the half lobster and that was very average.
As a starter we had the pork scratching sticks with apple sauce and they were amazing.
Dessert we had espresso, ice cream and baileys which was incredible.
The only noticeable problem was when we went to the loos there was a socking wet carpet out side the lady’s loos at the bottom, but other than that the place and food and drinks were great 👍🏻
love love love it here. i work across the road and we tend to have the set menu at lunchtime . it is fabulous x
Unfortunately we did not even get to eat as after waiting ten minutes at the front door with out acknowledgement from a single member of staff we decided to leave. However we were acknowledged by a couple of customers in the restaurant who advised us not to bother as they said the menu availability was poor as they had run out of items. The noise from a big male party was really loud and they had waited over an hour for their food.
Really good value for money with the 2 courses for £10 each before 5.00.
Shame the New Zealand white wine was out of stock and had to order red with our fish.
Nice waitress server but disappointed we couldn’t put a tip on our card as she said it goes to a charity..
We have tried steaks which are tasty and really nice but everything which come with it it's not so great. There was no draught beer as well and the lady who served us had not so much knowledge about what she's serving. Would not recommend if u wanna steaks. There are better ones in Norwich. For everything else cannot tell.
Nice venue, with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. The quality of the food was excellent, but was not very hot, which was a disappointment, and mentioned to the staff at the time. On the evening of our visit, there was no house lager on draught, so had to order bottled beer, also there was no speciality coffee available only filter coffee available.
Run out of draft lager then run out of bottled beer, run out of lobster which we weren’t told about until after we ordered our starters. Then asked for the bill because we had specifically gone there for lobster as it’s advertised as a steak and lobster restaurant, then waited nearly 45mins for this and when it finally came it was the wrong bill, this was changed for the right bill eventually but no one questioned or apologised for why we where leaving due to the fact we could not order what we had specifically gone there for and considering this was our 6 year wedding anniversary meal we where both disappointed and frustrated. We went across the road to Middletons and ordered the meals we wanted but the bourgee restaurant was very disappointing and would advise don’t waste your time or money on this place much better restaurants available
Laughable.....£28 steak and paper napkins, no wonder the place is empty on a Saturday night.
Whilst paper napkins is not a deal breaker, it is a really clear way to demonstrate the lack of attention to detail.
Go somewhere else..........
Enjoyable evening with very nice food. Nice, friendly staff.
I booked two tables; one for a group of 10 year olds celebrating a birthday and one for the adults. Food great for all, caring service and nice atmosphere despite the late afternoon booking.
Good value set lunch. Christmas songs still playing but didn’t effect our lunch . Will come back to visit
Service very good, food not overly hot but tasty , nice atmosphere
The Sunday Roast was presented beautifully, a good varied choice of vegetables which complement the beef which was lovely and tender. The only criticism we had was that the food was only warm.
Restaurant had a great atmosphere unfortunately the food put a downer on that, medium rare steaks came out rare/almost blue, not an issue as I’m not fussy but the meat was tough and the sides came out on the wrong plates. For the price I expected better, would not recommend or visit again. Crispy duck starter was enjoyable.
We ordered 4 bottles of wine and had to drink out of martini glasses as they had no wine glasses.
The restaurant wasn’t even half full.
We also had a drip constantly from the ceiling onto the back of my friends coat on her chair.
We had to request the bill 3 times before it arrived.
Very over priced! Had the tomahawk steak to share, was mainly fat, and the lobster was tiny, NOT SUITABLE for 2 people sharing. No check back on our food to tell them the issues. Had better sharing steaks with no fat on in tgi's for half the price, will not be returning.
We were told no fillet steaks left and just 3 rumps. Noone offered to take our coats which stayed on the floor near the table the whole time. The staff were eager and attentive but also gave the wrong people the wrong dishes. The steaks were good but overpriced.
Lovely meal is with friendly staff not the cheepest of restaurants but deffenlty a high class restaurant
Chewy steak which the waitress agreed with when we complained. No filet steak on the night as the steaks were too bad - terrible for a steak house! Meal was sent back 3 times as served cold. Table edging coming off. Really would avoid this restaurant
Poor from start to finish,
Long wait for drinks, longer wait for food which then arrived cold.
The service was poor as kept forgetting our cutlery so waited 5 mins each time after food was served so became cold. The food wasn't worth the price I paid the same price when I was at The Ivy in Norwich and their food was sublime. The music they were playing didnt match the price and beautiful building and the decor inside. Couldn't fault the lobster starter but my tomatoe, avacardo started was bland and the steak main wasn't seasoned enough for me. I wouldn't go there again.
Service was shocking, took about 20 mins for someone to take our drinks order, and the same for the food. Wasn’t busy so I don’t know why it took so long? Food was just average nothing special. Table next door has a chocolate bomb that was just smashed all over the table which cream splashed over and went on my friends dress. Waitress didn’t seemed bothered. Then had to get up to ask someone for the bill. Lack of service. Will not be returning and will also not be recommending .
