Boxcar Butcher and Grill
We are a casual dining restaurant, with a small area of outdoor seating, main dining area, rear dining area under a full-opening skylight and a lower-ground seating area for 18 covers overlooking the kitchen and charcoal grill.
Team looked after us well and the food was delicious...we had a friend's baby with us and he was a bit noisy but it didn't cause anyone a problem!
We love this place. I've been a few times now and try to go every time I visit London and in the Hyde Park area. The steaks are second to none, the sauces amazing, the chips crunchy, and the ambience perfect. Oh, and the cocktails are wonderful!
The quality of steak was not as good as before. Burger of Boxcar was one of the best in London if not the best. This time it was a bland, pub quality patty. Definitely not up to the standard before. Service was very indifferent as well, not friendly at all.
Came for the Sunday roast. Was really great! The only complaint we had was the cigarette smoke from the outside diners who were seated right next to the door.
Loved every bite! Great food and kind service.
The food and good service always satisfies at this restaurant. Truly a hidden gem. The chicken pot pie is fantastic and the Sunday roast is delicious.
Nice slightly hipster atmosphere in this restaurant near Marble Arch. The steak was decent, albeit a little tough. For the price, there are better restaurants for steak. Wine list is a bit sparse with only a couple of good selections. Although we didn't have one, the burgers looked like they may be good.
Been a few times and yet to be disappointed. Small select menu but great quality food. Early evening deals excellent value.
Have been a few times, always great. Really good burgers and steaks.
Amazing service from start to finish and the food absolutely to die for, them burgers and them chips so tasty that I want to go back again
It was a good experience, good food and great service. Although there was something lacking, ambience perhaps? Starters option were little.
Very tasty food but quite pricey... Quiet on the day we were there, which was nice!
Beautiful little restaurant. We managed to bool snd get in at last minute. I had a fillet steak which was amazing. Good service and intimate dinning experience.
Good Sunday lunch
Service a bit casual given it wasn’t v busy, nice relaxed atmosphere, not bad value given the area ( where everything is expensive!)
Great place. Good in summer. Open windows. Good food and wine.
Excellent Sunday Roast.Quality of beef superb , and plenty of fresh veg.
Seems to have lost it butcher shop feel and passion. Just another steak restraunt.
Waiter did not know anything about the different cuts of meat, just handed us a menu. Only we had been a few times before don't think we would of know that there was an different cuts on offer.
Over £100 for 2 burgers and a bottle of wine seemed a bit much to me. There seemed to be endless additional charges.
Cute little neighborhood place. Good food and good value.
One of the best Sunday roasts ever!! My wife said the same. This place is a real gem.
After their Deli earlier in the week (Great food, service, coffee, value etc) this meal was a let down. Positives - superb Olives and super foods salads) negatives small chicken pie (cold in the middle) cost of sides so an average steak tops out at £35+ and hyperactive waiter. Walked out cross rather than disappointed.
Great little find with the best burger and rosemary fries. Cozy and quaint.
I read the reviews and had high expectations and was not disappointed. My table had the fillet, sirloin, ribeye and lamb and all were cooked perfectly and delicious. Highly recommend!!
Quit, casual place with great food / steaks in particular.
Will be going back
Got back for Sunday Lunch! Had high expectations after previous visits for lunch and dinner. Not disappointed. Went early and it was pretty much full by the time we left but still felt calm and relaxed with all sorts of different folks in enjoying themselves without it feeling busy or noisy. Don't understand people who go for SUNDAY LUNCH and have a burger. It is just wrong!
The rib-eye was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a great steak. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is also very nice. The service was also very good.
Always great experience, especially if you can snag a table outside. Excellent meat, salads and beer & wine list. Yum!
Great food, delicious cocktails and attentive service. Highly recommended!
Last minute booking on a Friday evening. Table was too small for sharing the cote de boeuf that we wanted but service and food were very good. We went for steak and a selection of sides. Steaks were very flavorful and the superfood salad was excellent. Wine was reasonably priced too. Met our expectations and will look forward to going again.
Like the atmosphere. Good ingredients and execution. Good wine. Service a little slow but it was busy. All in all a good experience and would definitely go back.
Best steak I’ve ever eaten!!
Excellent food, very good service.
Burgers were top notch.
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to give my daughter the meal she was hoping for, even though it was not a Sunday menu item .
A great little place with some tables outside for a pre dinner drink. Amazing steaks and very tasty side dishes. We love a menu where peas heavily feature !! Great service too.
Very happy with the overall experience. Steaks were well cooked and presented. Wine choice was small but with a nice selection. Would highly recommend this establishment.
Overall to be recommended. Excellent quality food and wine for the price with comparable ambience and staffing.
Negative points-being charged for still water in an open jug at £2 a pop and the 12.5% service charge. 10% is more reasonable.
Not enough to put us off going again however...
Went with colleagues. Great steak and burgers. Will come back.
Nice staff but small tables and not great value for money.
Really relaxed, simple offering delivered very well. Very nice staff made us genuinely welcome in a pleasant atmosphere. Casual dining at its best. Good value in all respects.
Impressive Lunch for the price, well presented and genuinely filling. Peas could have been ever so slightly sweeter with the pie, but that might just be down to personal taste.
