Delicious menu, attentive staff, perfect portions combine for a lovely dinner! Thank you!
The soups have been varied and excellent for 3 visits. The duck confit and steaks are exceptional. The eclairs were delicious and unique -- keep them on the dessert menu.
Expensive -- but very good -- service was terrific and the food was outstanding --
Mussels and scallops were delicious!! Wait staff were friendly!
We didn't like our table. When I asked for a quiet table in the back they said they were all reserved. But no one came to those tables while we were there and we were there for 2 hours. So we were bunched up between two loud tables. Not nice.
Great tasting menu. Great location. Really fantastic cheese selection.
The ambience and the service were good, but we had brunch and the coffee was pretty bad. Also, frankly, for the price, the American Breakfast was poor. The eggs were done by someone who doesn't know how to fry eggs, though the potato pancake was tasty enough. Additionally, we had to pay extra for bread. Certainly the prices were high enough to throw that in!
I enjoyed my dinner at Brabo. I've dined there three times and the food was always on point. I was not pleased with the service because I was there for almost an hour before I received my food. I ordered the Sea Bass and my friend ordered soup and the crab salad, so there was no justification for the delay in receiving our meal.
Great restaurant, excellent food and service. Would definitely go again! Very nice cheese selection, great seafood.
Very much average across all aspects and very noisy
The duck and scallops were delicious and cooked to perfection. The Pear salad is the best. We will definitely return.
Great food and great service. We had the cheese plate, octopus, duck confit, lamb shank, halibut, and short ribs. Everyone was happy. Flaming baked Alaska was fun and tasty. We will be back.
Ended up eating here for our 2 nights in Alexandria. Great food, lovely atmosphere and excellent service. We enjoyed both nights equally and I definitely recommend for a nice dinner.
Nice date night spot! Only wish the noise was a little less in your face but still overall a nice place to have a great meal and great service.
Brabo was very good, however, I had the mussels and I was quite disappointed. They were cooked is white wine with a "touch" of cream. It looked and tasted like milk - my husband had a steak which was very good - so it just depends on what you order. The wait staff was excellent.
The filet and lobster for two was amazing. The steak was cooked as requested as well as the tender lobster. Will definitely return.
The server was not very attentive and the restaurant was really not that full. There was music playing above us and it was a bit too loud and we felt like we were in a discotheque. We asked the server to have the music turned down but not sure he did anything since he didn’t mention it again. The drinks are a rip off since we all agreed that they were light pours. $20 for a bourbon old fashioned is steep!.
Drinks were overpriced and not particularly good, food was expensive but not outstanding quality (had to send mine back and order something else due to the whole meal being super over cooked and mushy), but the ambiance was nice and the cheese platter and mussels were fantastic.
The food was great and the staff was very attentive. I would say that the only downside for the entire evening was that it felt almost factory like in the efficiency of moving people through the meal and out the door. It was Valentine's Day, so I understand their desire to make as many couples feel welcome and well served as possible...but it was a little too rushed, in my opinion. In fact, I heard the wait staff mention more than once that they had forgotten to give people their "gift box" of macarons. The food was wonderful, as usual, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. It all just felt a little rushed.
My husband and I have eaten at Brabo's many times, but the food and table seating was not very good for our special Valentine's dinner which I had booked on OpenTable 2 weeks prior. I'm not sure we will return.
My wife and I had dinner at Brabo on Feb. 13. Service was very slow and generally inattentive, including a 15-minute wait for a glass of wine. We waited well over an hour to be served our main courses, despite ordering shortly after we arrived. There may have been a problem in the kitchen, but our server never advised us of the delay; someone from the front of the house finally came to our table after we had been waiting about 65 minutes to say that our food would be out shortly. It took about 10 minutes after that until we were served. And when I received the bill I noticed that I had been overcharged for my main course.
To Brabo's credit, the food was very good, as usual. We have eaten at Brabo on a number of occasions and enjoy it. This was a very disappointing evening that could have been prevented by more care from the service staff and management.
This is a lovely restaurant. Great vibe and amazing service. The food is above average. Our server Billy was just perfect
The dining experience was disappointing. Brabo, in its original formulation, was an elegant and sophisticated addition to the Alexandria, Virginia restaurant scene. The current embodiment is loud, cheap, and tasteless. We were expecting a typical higher-end French brassiere experience. The scene that spread out before us, on Saturday evening, reminded us of a pizza parlor. Conversation was, difficult, at best. Service was inattentive. Food quality was poor. Appointments and comfort level were all second-rate. There's little value in the experience.
Great Alexandria spot for a nice dinner. Great food and stellar service!
Delightful evening with a quiet table, excellent staff and great food/drinks!
We have been here prior to this past weekend and the food seemed much better the last time. The mussels were overcooked and came out in a different method which left them, small, dry and no flavor.
Two of our party had the lamb and it seemed it had been so stewed that any flavor the meat had was gone.
Everything is always wonderful at Brabo and this night was no exception. The wine, food, and service were excellent. I had the scallops which were the best I've had in a long time. The apple crumble for dessert was just ok, but all else - fantastic.
We ate dinner at Brabo during Alexandria Restaurant Week 2020 and it was delicious. Food, service, and ambiance were first rate, just as its been in all our previous visits. Restaurant Week dinner is a very good value and the menu choices were really good. We will be returning.
Great food, service and overall experience, highly recommend Brabo!
Ambiance was warm and welcoming. The bar offered up some unique libations and the Food was outstanding and creative. Service was attentive and friendly. We were there for restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Noise level was quiet but escalated rapidly when a large jovial party arrived as we were leaving. This restaurant is the upscale sister to the equally excellent Brabo Tasting Room next door. We look forward to returning.
The service was excellent. Our server acknowledged my food allergies, and made sure I was accommodated. ( that does not happen in many establishments).
The timing of our courses was great--did not feel rushed, or waiting extremely long for the next one.
Te staff did check on us , refilled beverage glasses without needing to flag them down. The staff was attentive without being intrusive or annoying.
The food was delicious, creative and good size portions.
Awesome food, great service but very very expensive.
Wonderful Bartender, drinks and food.
Service is very consistent and good.
Amazing food. Great service. We loved the experience of dinkng at Brabo.
Restaurant week menu was slim pickings. Food was average. They sat us in line of the front door and every time someone opened it, we were assaulted with a freezing cold gust of wind. There were plenty of tables available elsewhere.
Rockfish entree and pear salad were both outstanding. Excellent service.
My 3rd time visit here and it seems that restaurant week brought more customers in. I always enjoy my dining experience here. Every people that work here is spot on and very attentive to their guest. Kudos to the team and way management run the restaurant. Food menu seems to change but a nice a change, not that old menus was terrible. Food was delicious as usual. Probably one my favorite restaurant in Old Town for French food.
We were really looking forward to a high quality meal at Brabo but found the food to be lacking, with unimaginative, flavorless dishes. The service was excellent but the food let us down.
Restaurant week. Entre’ was good. Appetizer average but dessert was unpalatable. Service was very good.
